We just happened to be on our way back from an Alaskan cruise and docked in Victoria BC the night of the lights. At about 11pm I stumbled upon dozens of passengers up on deck with their phones pointed at the sky. With the naked eye it just looked like wispy vertical clouds but as I passed the people and looked at their phones I was able to see the bright colors. A kind stranger took some photos of us with the lights in the background and we watched until probably 12:30am and then went to bed. At 2am we got a wakeup call from the ship that the lights were out (we had asked for one). Troy stayed in bed but I went out on the verandah and back up onto the deck where the photographer that had stayed the whole time mentioned that there was the brightest display of the night about 10 minutes earlier. Funniest thing is that in our current hometown of West Seneca NY people were able to see them quite well. 😂🎉
Thanks for sharing the region. We loved what we saw of the PNW from our train ride up to Seattle before the cruise and will definitely be heading back there when we get our truck camper in a couple of years.

Good to see you two (three) back on the Oregon coast. Ah yes, cheese curds. We had an old creamery in Gallatin Gateway that sold fresh cheese curds. So dang good. I did not stay up for the Northern Lights. I’ve been working out very hard since my knee surgery. I’m exhausted by 8:30-9:00pm. Folk said they were pretty cool in Bozeman, but way better over in Livingston. Having lived in the far northwest part of Alaska in the early 1980’s, I was able to see them up close and personal. They are truly amazing. Hope all is well?! Be safe and when in doubt, Carey On!

There was a creamery in Ronan that my grandpa worked. I’m sure they were better way back then:)

@@CareyOnVagabond I think our little creamery was shut down in the ‘80’s to early ‘90’s. I still miss it. But then, the Bozeman I knew as a young guy has pretty vanished as well. Oh well, things change, whether we want it to or not. Carey On!
