It is not constant DC, bcoz, one end of the 7-0-7 primary winding is giving the feed-back to the base of the transistor 2N3055, which makes it oscillate (switching it ON/OFF at a high frequency), ..thus the Hi voltage is induced into the secondary winding giving the spark...!
i think for a longer spark you need to make more turns on the secondary winding,maybe 1800, but i think it cannot fit the housing so you need to use different core.. nice video brother

2 Different size wires because the amps on the primary coil will be much higher than on the secondary (p=Volts*Amps), so the wires have to be thicker to resist that and not melt. It increases the voltage just like a regular transformer does, depending on the difference in coil turns. (more turns on the secondary, more voltage)

Also he used fairly thick wire on the secondary, You could get a lot more turns out of a thinner wire, harder to wind though. The resistor is just used for current limiting to the base of the transistor.
No problem. The IRFZ44's are amazing though. I've tried the 2n3055's as well as larger IRFP250N's and nothing compares to the arcs I get from the IRFZ44's. I found a simple circuit that just uses the two mosfets and two resistors only. I'd share it but I've only seen it in one video. not sure where it is now. I don't think this is a great circuit because it's essentially pulsed DC which can saturate the core quickly. The ZVS drivers are better because they actually reverse direction of the flux as well as they draw very little current under no load whereas this one heats up quickly and will always draw its maximum current.
@@inductor1.77 can I use 1 d882 transistor, I have seen many videos that used irfz44n transistor and d882, the d882 result was slightly better, And I used 2 irfz44n transistor 1by 1 and at both cases my irfz44n didn't heatbut stopped working ,🙄 the source and gate pin is showing continuity 😭

No, 100Kv would be 10cm arcs. You could probably get 20Kv if you used a 2 mosfet IRFZ44 driver circuit and fed it 20v, you'd also need more turns on the secondary with smaller gauge wire.

How does the transformer work on constant DC? There is nothing switching the transistor.
