The "nimrod showed off the SAS" comparison is actually perfect to show the issue with stadium. The sas were "shown off" by killing dangerous people and saving lives, not playing live action counter strike
Yeah, his point was retarded It was also a very stupid idea back then too, since the terrorists could just turn on the tv and predict their tactics from their points of entry.. Not to mention that operation was really messy
The real SAS built a replica embassy kill house to train in relentlessly before the mission, which is probably where the idea came from. But the only demonstration of skill that mattered is when they took down the terrorists and saved the hostages for real.
The Crowd in the Stadium makes also no sense because normal citizen can literally see the Tactics they use. So Rainbow shows all tactics they have to the rest of the World and bad people can just go in the Stadium and see how the Operators work and how the gadgets work
I absolutely love how there will always be the constant argument between whether Siege's lore is good or bad but both sides will always agree that the stadium was the worst part of this game's history
Also YES. R6 needs more singleplayer or at least narrative focused, PVE content. Just like a PVE event every season where you do some sort task that advances the game's story would be cool to have. But I'm no game dev so I don't really know the time/cost of doing something like that but it would be nice. Also I would to somehow see Patriots be made in some form since it technically did happen in the lore. (I know this is impossible but I'm just kinda speaking my mind here. I would honestly take a 6 issue comic run explaining what happened and be satisfied)

I was thinking more just like how we have events for cowboy stuff and the halloween stuff in R6, we could a short mission/event where you execute a mission that would advance Siege’s story. Basically just what Article 5 did but every season and its new and different
You say that, but there's like several points where Deimos has attacked public facilities, like in Ram's trailer and comic, or in Fenrir's release comic. Bro's *intro* shows him letting a bomb detonate even though he had plenty of time to disarm it, he is the literal definition of a terrorist.

@@Wumbonington If the point of the lore is to explain why these operators are endlessly fighitng eachother (it's airsoft) then how is ingame gameplay separate from the lore?
Rainbow Six Siege is a Tom Clancy game. Tom Clancy has been known for his amazing story telling in books with action packed sequences and high stakes. He has enough books to keep people on the edge of their seats for years. I can't imagine how disappointed he would be at the direction they went with this game, I don't think he would've even allowed it to happen if I'm honest. The main issue I have with you calling the White Masks "just another enemy" is the fact that the White Masks are more of a realistic threat. That is what made Tom Clancy books AND games so intriguing and engaging, because the stories they told were actually possible and some of them were based on real events too. I love rainbow six and still play it but I absolutely hate the story and how it feels like high school drama BS every time something in the story happens. There are no stakes, nobody important dies, Siege has turned into a giant cartoon.
18:35 Yea gameplay is gameplay for a reason, thats like asking unironically how Mira can carry around 2 big ass one way mirrors or how Ram can carry 3 mini tanks that shred the floor under it and basically anything in its way, yea like sure they use their gadgets in lore too, but thats not really the same since they are setting up safehouses or just showing them off, unlike ing where mira can run around and just pull a black mirror out of her ass whenever
I partially agree. But I also think some asks in regards to "gameplay reasons" are easier than others. Like, where is this character storing an entire arsenal? Well we nearly always are willing to overlook that for numerous games. But making the big bad work right next to and with the team is just dumb with how they did it. Because they didn't even try to make it make sense even though they surely could've come up with something.
@@DragonbornMike-ym2er I mean, it's a common thing with hero shooters tho, in Overwatch, even though there are some voice lines implying they are not fond of one another, you can play as Widowmaker with a Tracer on your team, when in lore they would just try to kill each other on the spot. At some point, when you create a hero shooter, you create characters you want to make playable for the fanbase and you don't want to limit how they can play it for lore reasons like "BEEP ! You can't lock in Deimos because you have 1 or more Rainbow operator on your team." + You can't really make a separate roster for Rainbow and Nighthaven let's say, since operators switch side quite often and also for obvious balancing reasons. Overall, lore is cool but it can't affect gameplay.
@@DragonbornMike-ym2er "Gameplay reasons" for a multiplayer shooter has to be the most pathetic reason to ever complain at, jeez. This is overlooked for any goddamn multiplayer game ever made. It's a fucking GAME for a reason.
Currently R6 is in a weird situation where the lore was at its peek with the White Masks, then it dipped into borderline stupidity with the stadium, then it spiced up and got pretty interesting with Yahatta's death and Deimos, and now things are uncertain with Deimos going to work with Rainbow. Sure the lore isn't perfect, but I don't think that it's "the worse lore in gaming."
they removed them because night maps were a whole separate map and not just the map with engine time set to 2:00AM or something, effectively doubling the game size. siege has never had a built-in day-night cycle and they're probably too lazy to implement one.
For years, I jokingly said Siege was becoming an anime; but thanks to the corny Netflix-style animations and ridiculous world building they’re doing with the characters, I hate to be indirectly correct in that statement.
I think you're totally misunderstanding his points. For example: 14:37 "Well, they infiltrated nighthaven to gather more evidence" Yeah, which is still a MASSIVE and hamfisted overreaction. He's not saying that it was a revenge mission at all, but that it was a dumb way to gather evidence. I can already picture how Tom Clancy might write this - observing Nighthaven in the field, see who they're working with, who are they working against, who their clients work for, who is suplying them and for what ends - an actual investigation, where you keep your hands clean as long as possible so as not to tip nighthaven off if they ARE up to something. Rainbow's first step was to jump into the hornet's nest headfirst. It IS dumb. 15:17 You're missing the point that the operator whose special skill is to be invisible on camera - was caught on camera. No one cares how nighthaven tracked down the lead afterwards, it's that they got that particular lead in the first place. It's lazy. 16:11 Well, the reason why Rainbow went to nighthaven was to say "I know from your perspective Rainbow has been provoking you for no reason, but please don't start a war with us while we might have a different threat to distract us and divide Rainbows attention. Uh, also, don't get involved." If you were Nighthaven, how might you take that? etc etc etc You're coming at it from the wrong angle. You've got the details of the lore down, but what's being pointed out is the broad foundations of the lore are faulty.
Exactly! Glad im not the only one who noticed that. Seems like he was a bit nitpicky by saying he skipped some details in the lore also. Doesn't matter if he skipped a couple things cause the point is to show that the general direction of the story and the writing is plain bad
It's the common mistake a lot of people who are usually invested in a franchise fall in to. "If it's explained, it's justified" regardless of how poor the explanation is.
Isn’t it explained in the animation that grim cut part of nøkks mask and disabled her anti camera tech? The other two are decent criticisms but that one the explanation is just left out and replaced by criticism of ‘how did they see nøkk on camera’
Not only does showing off a secret counter-terrorism unit in a stadium reveal their tactics to the world and enemies. It also gives terrorists time slots as to when they can commit their acts of terrorism unmolested by team Rainbow. Also civil war plot is pathetic and childish.
Well to be fair, her ability doesn’t last forever, and on top of that if I’m not mistaken, that was post violent knife fight Nokk so it’s not like they didn’t know she was there. She was probably in a hurry and got a bit sloppy.
They just asking for a terrorist attack on that Stadium with allowing the public to come in and watch. Its kinda crazy dangerous to put such high tech military equipment and operators all together in one spot with thousands of randoms around them.
I think a lot of the problem with how people understand the r6 story is that its all so spread out. Theres comics, 2d animations, cg animations, text blurbs, etc etc etc...but not all of it is even in game, and the stuff that is is not always at the forefront. I have a bit of a similar problem with apex, but there they at least try with the treasure pack quests and all the legend interactions. Over there, you get both the what and the why just from playing the game. In rainbow? I just have to piece it together unless im actively looking for it. I think this just leads to a lot of confusion.
Ngl, I lost interest in the lore before the whole Harry and stadium dumpster fire. Ever since they started making the operators like marvel characters with boring backstories. I grew up with rainbow six Vegas 1&2 and the focus was never on the characters. Bishop and his squad were fairly one dimensional as were supporting characters. The villains had a little more depth, especially in the sequel, but the thing that made the Vegas stories so gripping was the feats of tactical prowess rainbow performs. In other words, large incredibly dangerous terrorist groups plans get thwarted by the most elite counter-terrorism military group stopping them. None of this character bickering, politics and over the top backstories. Focus on the threat and how rainbow deals with it, not on which character has beef with another.
@@drax065 you people overestimate what good actually means either way I never directly called it a good story but this guy flat out admitted he only likes to see good guys kill bad guys which by itself is not a good story
The thing I hate most about lore is changing what rainbow was about they used to be a secret organisation every operator never had a identity you where just a blank face among many others
18:30 I mean.. Nokk is missing, Ash was in coma the last 2(?) seasons (poor ash mains), you can literally play Grim and Nokk in the same team like. Grim: "Where is Nokk?!" Nokk: "Main Lobby" Grim: "Okay :) " And when we start more nickpicking.. Why we cant _burn down_ some walls? They are literally out of wood and we have 3 Operator with Fire Gadgets and when i see how big the fuell canister is on Goyos Trap. "Yeah about the Objective.. MAYBE some things get out of controll." *Burning Chalet in the background*
15:50 The fact she was caught on camera at all is the point here. I haven't read the comic so maybe they have some super advanced cameras that were designed to get vigil and nokk on camera after they were on team rainbow but if not then her being noticed on camera is his point. The only reason grimm would have a clue who did it was bc they saw nokk on cam.
I will agree on some aspects. Yes, the stadium threw a wrench into the game. On full display to the public? They're covert operators. Not gladiators. Nokk is my favorite character for her lore. The infiltration of Nighthaven, stealing data, was a hit and miss. Yes, Nokk is caught on camera, which is counter to her ability. Kali knows it's Rainbow, but she doesn't ask the former Rainbow operators, now on her team, what they know of Nokk? That brings into question, loyalty. I figure Rainbow is so large, and constantly active, most operators would not know each other intimately. Maybe remember a face and a name, but not much beyond that. Considering Nokk normally works alone, and her bio is largely classified would make it possible. At the same time, that doesn't mean ALL the operators don't know Nokk. What if Smoke and Ela and Pulse saw Nokk's image, recognized who she was, but remained tight-lipped, or just lie to Kali, saying, "I don't know who this person is?" Which brings into question, are these defectors truly loyal to NIGHTHAVEN?
In the lore, Nokks identity is a complete secret from everyone but the director of Rainbow, they keep her file secured at NATO or something like that, so loyalty aside, I just don’t think any of the ops know who she is or what she looks like.
@@miceatah9359 The Crossovers are the hardest parts of that game, and the R6S mission is one of the hardest, just like Sam Fisher and Future Soldier. Deimos is literally the reason why I got back into Siege. I kinda wish he didn’t get captured so soon, but other than that he basically was my reason for reigniting my enjoyment for this game. I kinda didn’t like the “esports arc”. The whole stadium part of the story is kind of why (as well as the balance changes that followed) is why I quit for like 2 years.
The issue with the "key parts" is that they all basically depend on the horribly dumb and convoluted main lore to work in the first place. Also, turning a lore-heavy franchise into a competitive PvP e-sports game is the reason why the lore became dumb and convoluted in the first place. It's basically butchering the stablished franchise lore just because they wanted to bank on the Rainbow Six IP instead of coming up with a new one.
I don't get this idea that the Stadium arc has to define Siege until the end of time. I ended up jokingly likening the game to an anime at one point and said if it's an anime, the Stadium Arc was pretty mid or at least borderline filler and that's okay. They shot the guy who came up with it on screen. I don't think they can get much more direct with what they're trying to say than that.
@@miceatah9359You could just as easily apply that logic to Twilight as well if that makes it easier for you to understand. I'm sure you had your favorite and least favorite arc. Don't be a dick
The books, Tom Clancy wrote are beautiful, and I highly recommend you read at least one of them. When I bought siege, I loved the counterterrorist aspect of it, but as they transitioned to this tournament style law, it lost my interest, hoping with Deimos they’ll revert back
Especially that Morris is back as Deimos puts a fun twist in it. Actually for me back into siege because I think it’s cool to see a classic character come back
Deimos joining Rainbow is definitely something you can’t overlook. “It’s something to overlook” is a wrong way to justify a guy who hates the group, to join them. We didn’t get to play Harry, so I don’t see why they had to add Deimos.
Honestly I think the best way for siege to move forward, is to have the ranked 5v5 be the main game. But periodically have events which are like story/campaign that progresses the lore. One example I think they can take inspiration from is the outbreak event. The event can be a pve/narrative based.
I wish they had voice lines at the start of rounds depending on the characters you choose kinda like overwatch. Like if you pick ash and kali they say something to eachother, or maybe if you kill pulse as hibana she says something short. Not voicelines that would clog up your audio too much but just a little something. I think it would make more people interested in the lore, most of my friends that have been playing for years have no idea about the lore of the game.
I always imagined the audience in the stadium as veterans or currently enlisted members of military/CT forces Would make sense they'd go and watch their fellow comerades in arms compete for their homelands
"basically a rip off of Talon from Overwatch." Comparing a self interested PMC to a terrorist organization that wants to "make the world stronger" through starting a global war is just ridiculous.
I feel like it's a half decent comparison when you look at their effects on the story, both serve as the main, sort of at-the-same-level opposition while also not being the main antagonists, as well as both having recruited current/ex members of rainbow/overwatch.
@@GrandsunoThey're essentially Overwatch's dodgy backup whenever they need something done that would typically put them in hot water. Whether it's espionage or even to assassinate a target of interest.
I don't feel like the video is "missing key parts" I think it's trying to summarize the story as fast as possible while also pointing out things that just seem weird or outta place. Like Nokk getting caught on a camera or harry being a self insert for the writers to "fix" the story. If you need dive into the super micro details of a story for it to make sense or be "good" it's doing waaaay too much. (especially because they didn't even care about the lore for like a year or 2)
@chogboogus I don't really see that as a key part of the story tho, yes he got that information wrong, but in the end the sister rivalry was never a hugely important part or cornerstone of the lore. Sure now ela left and now they're using the sisters POV to explain each side which is cool, but they could've chosen any other operators who chose to leave or stay and the points would remain mostly the same

Just a random question but how come we can't play the other stadium map, I havent checked custom games I guess but I haven't seen the other stadium map since the event
The Deimos part I mean is no different than you playing a fighting game like Marvel Vs Capcom and having a Hero with a villan on the same team (Like Dormammu and Ryu) and then going by lore "Oh those 2 would never work together that makes no sense", lore might have some small impacts on game, but they shouldn't at the same time and that is the case for most games with such themes like Hero's and villans. 9:43 so the problem with the idea of her Recruiting form rainbow is that these Operators would have to wait till their Military contracts are up. Since most nations don't just let their soldiers quit. Plus most won't let them take their Secret government tech with them 😂

@@jamwasd yeah it’s obviously not a 5v5 shootout, but my point is that a public competition with international CTU’s meant to demonstrate their capacity skill and tactics, isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility
Ah yes 9 years of history only to come to a villain that is supposed to represent the community and say "Well this sucks". And what? We got a villain supposedly worse than white masks? Where's the counter-scaryrists part of that? What, the villain now kills only the special ops? The whole point of rainbow narrative now is that "We must stop him till he kills more of our operators". What happened to civillians? That's just what shooters came to be: Super heroes in SWAT uniforms. "HE-HE WHEN I'LL KILL ALL THE OPERRRATORS THE WORRRLD WILL BE MIIINE"
Saying that they messed uniting lore and gameplay is a bit silly, consid ering masterchef is in the game. Think of every other game with "lore" that doesnt correlate to gameplay (warzone, fortnite, apex. Ecc)
Apex is a good example of lore and gameplay going hand in hand. One of the few great aspects of that game. Characters will remark on past events. My favorite example is Revenant and Loba. Since Rev killed her parents, he has a ton regarding her. The best one being if Loba gets kill leader, he will say, "New Kill Leader Loba? I have at least two kills over you. Mommy and Daddy" Also, the characters are being copied so only their copy dies. It has one of the most lore accurate multiplayers, besides Deep Rock Galactic. The only issue is there being multiple of copies.
The difference is Rainbow Six is part of the Tom Clancy universe which is grounded in the real world and was a more serious level of fiction compared to Call of Duty. The Rainbow Six game was released alongside the book way back on the Nintendo 64. Master chief shouldn't have been in there in the first place and actually highlights the issue we see in a lot of media now. Fan service aiming for a cheap distraction to make up for incompetency
All of those examples are bad. None of them have even passable stories. With Cod it's so bad, it even leaked into the campaign. Live service battle pass storytelling is a failed experiment, and going "well everything else is bad too" doesn't make it good
the stadium stuff definitely was to cash in on esports but its not like competitions for groups like these don't exist UAE has a SWAT competition for teams around the world
Even if stuff is being omitted, the lore itself is convoluted, doesn’t actually play well with every character playing together in game, and a lot of the story having no … point. It’s continuity for continuity’s sake, without any awareness. You want lore being congruent with gameplay? Look at CS, Team Fortress for giving eternal conflict a small (if not somewhat tounge in cheek) explanation for why it’s happening, why it’s still happening, and why anyone’s there. Deimos mocking then joining with Rainbow is such an easy blow and subject to mock, showing a key fault with conjoining lore with the core gameplay loop. Now they just have to keep the wheels churning to make more characters to the roster, all contextual logic be damned. People can like the game, but my hairy ass has more “grounded military narrative” than Ubisoft’s writing room.
Siege's comic and story telling is much harder to access than most other MP games. in a game like TF2 a comic release was a major event in siege i will never hear from an official source that there's a new comic book released for the update. the season reveals and showing off the game content with the cinematics and animation are good. we should at least have a link to view the comics from inside the game if not viewing it ingame.
No tv show or movie that has multiple seasons/sequels will be perfect writing wise, they have to change bits to fit the narrative. Writers are human and will make mistakes, they forget things and add subtle changes. Here's an example. In How I Met Your Mother, Robin tells Ted in Season 1 she was never good at sports and gave a heartfelt speech to him, yet later in the show. We found out her father wanted a boy and she played Peewee Hockey. Anyway, Siege is a 10 Year + game where they add so they don't have a story driven arc, its like Kudos said it's in battle passes and comics ECT. Also they had to find a way of adding all these operators to the game that made sense, Such as Sam Fisher. I started playing Siege in 2016 and I never knew there was a lore for years I just played but when I found out I was invested, its unpredictable and keeps you thinking what will happen next, I think Deimos is going to join Rainbow not as a member but they use him for the dirty work, things the others aren't going to do. hes their gun and they use him, For all we know, Deimos was working as a pawn for a much worse person. maybe the mastermind behind the White Masks or even someone new. Ubisoft have a habit of linking games, We have Splinter Cell in Siege and there was a Siege mission in Ghost Recon Wildlands. These games are all under the Tom Clancy banner and can be linked as we've seen. Maybe there's something coming that links the game more and Deimos is just the beginning. Sorry for the ramble it's 01:00 and i'm on a night shift..
Warzone got a coherent story during mw2019, bocw, and seasons three to six of mw2, everything fitted with the theme and settled things, and warzone is a game as a service
@@Wake.Up. as much as I hate Valorant, Siege pales in comparison. Siege has the destruction engine, but the gunplay of siege fundamentally does not work. @@dethgnome I've seen a bunch of pro tournaments in valorent clips that tell me otherwise. But the fact that seige is still going strong although being an 8 year old game is commendable
honestly game modes similar to article 5 to show off different "normal" operations the operators go on would be great, because a high class high level org such as rainbow wouldnt be the *only* people fighting a threat as big as deimos alone, and rainbow would be sent on countless CT missions everywhere that can be turned into small PVE events to show how much a *worldwide* CT team they are
The arena is definitely stupid lore-wise because that many people while the ops are busy shooting eachother with bb guns is a really easy target. That, and the "showing everything off" thing
We dont even know, what the ending of that comic implies. Im very much interested into what Ash is planning as I very much doubt that she would be fooled by Deimos that easily
@@marcusorban2439 the writing is pretty clearly on the wall, there setting up a Deimos redemption arc and in the process ruining all the good lore from the last year
One of the ways it can be explained why Deimos is training with r6 is they Confocatesd his equipment and had someone else wear it so they can train against him without the threat of it being him and dying same with death watch it can be someone else who is using it so that the team can figure out how it works and how to counter it
11:30 I do not want to rewrite the original video but i feel he means that they builded up in an unexistant beef. Yes they were diferent and were harsh on eachother, but it felt more like family competition than actual drama, and to me the point thing emphasise that: They're proud of beating eachother, that does not mean there's actual hate involved
What I dont get is why Bartlett University is considered a bad map to be played in CASUAL yet Stadium and Plane are fine. Each have their issues. Honestly idk why the pre-reworked maps arent available in customs either. They clearly have the maps since they constantly bring back Theme Park for Doktors Curse as well as Consulate for Containment. They even admitted that Emerald Plains was originally a rework for Bartlett University.
They should just retcon the crowd being there as something the operators felt in their minds, I could see them having a lore video where one of them s talking about harry and the stadium and saying how it felt like it was a sport with crowds of fans or something
I understand why most people don’t like the stadium lore but I enjoyed it. Imo the gadgets were already getting out there and stuff like kali using a sniper doesn’t make sense so i just enjoyed the cinematics that came with it The whole nighthaven thing seemed a bit too drama driven but again I enjoyed the cinematic so yeah. Either way i chalk up both to Harry’s mistakes, hence why he splits them into groups leading themselves.
it was done poorly, it could've just been an abandoned stadium that they trained on that was recorded and monitored by rainbow executives/employees to improve tech/strategies. but instead it turned into real life esports
Not quite the same, but if you're interested in what is essentially the real life version of the whole Stadium thing, the 'UAE SWAT Challenge' has police and security forces from around the world competing against each other in front of the public.
One good way to connect lore to gameplay is to give client side only opponent skins. I.e. opposing operators would dress like they're from Deimos's faction but only from the player's point of view.
Reason I loved the chimera event was because it was portrayed as a serious event. Not some goofy whatever this was in the stadium and Harry. They are supposed to be counter terrorism units. The best of the best. Not goofy characters
This lore sucks because nobody dies, only non operators which is lame, Idc about white masks or even plot at this point cause the amount plot amour every character has is crazy.
I also take massive issue with the handling of Deimos as a villain. He's hyped up for what? Like a year? Then is captured IMMEDIATELY at the start of the next year, it's absolutely stupid that the BiG bAd EvIL gUY is just dumpstered immediately. I am of the opinion that the stadium can work... through the eye of the spectators being other spec ops units being able to support their country and operators and learn from them in a more "relaxed" setting
It's not immediate tho. He's escaped them a few times, including when he jumped out of a cargo plane because Brava chose to save Capitão over capturing him
I don’t really play R6, so take what I’m about to say with a giant pinch of salt. I don’t think it’s unrealistic to want PVP and PVE in the same game. We’ve seen what happens when Ubi tries to branch out PVE into its own separate game. And games like Destiny have been pulling it off (with varying results) for years. So if they’re gonna stick with Siege, why not bring on a separate dev team to focus on PVE content? They already have the tools and platform to host it. Especially since they’ve already done PVE stuff before. So they have the systems like the AI, already made. But I guess you could argue that it would be a lot of resources used. Iamlufa is pretty much spot on for the first part of the lore until stadium, and kudos is right with stadium mainly sucking due to it having a crowd and it being heavily tied to esports. Lufa is still right with Harry being a tool for the devs making story changes and it is a part of the bad writing of siege. The "small details" kudos mentions about the mission of nook getting caught is all bad story telling, the point lufa made was that on a camera, she had been found. What her identity is or grims use of force for info isn't what lufas talking about, and this same problem is all over the lore. Some things in this lore could have been changed like the purpose of stadium and nothing else would change chronologically but the story would have been better, the same can be said for nook being replaced with literally any other operator and it still would make sense and be a better story, the writing is bad, but it's because it's lazy, not necessarily because the devs are trying to ruin it or for political reasons yet.

The "nimrod showed off the SAS" comparison is actually perfect to show the issue with stadium. The sas were "shown off" by killing dangerous people and saving lives, not playing live action counter strike
Yeah, his point was retarded
It was also a very stupid idea back then too, since the terrorists could just turn on the tv and predict their tactics from their points of entry..

The real SAS built a replica embassy kill house to train in relentlessly before the mission, which is probably where the idea came from. But the only demonstration of skill that mattered is when they took down the terrorists and saved the hostages for real.

At some point, when you create a hero shooter, you create characters you want to make playable for the fanbase and you don't want to limit how they can play it for lore reasons like "BEEP ! You can't lock in Deimos because you have 1 or more Rainbow operator on your team."

Deimos isn't working with Rainbow.
He's been captured by rainbow, but he's still trying to actively destroy rainbow
Lore was at its peak with white masks? There was like, 1 cut scene when the game released and nothing else
The only "nostalgia" I want is night maps again.
they removed them because night maps were a whole separate map and not just the map with engine time set to 2:00AM or something, effectively doubling the game size. siege has never had a built-in day-night cycle and they're probably too lazy to implement one.
For years, I jokingly said Siege was becoming an anime; but thanks to the corny Netflix-style animations and ridiculous world building they’re doing with the characters, I hate to be indirectly correct in that statement.
I think you're totally misunderstanding his points. For example:
14:37 "Well, they infiltrated nighthaven to gather more evidence" Yeah, which is still a MASSIVE and hamfisted overreaction.
Uh, also, don't get involved." If you were Nighthaven, how might you take that?
etc etc etc
You're coming at it from the wrong angle.
Yea I'm getting the sense that this dude doesn't quite know how to parse truly key details from memorable story arcs that end up going nowhere 😅
Also civil war plot is pathetic and childish.
you just brushed past nokk getting caught on camera
Well to be fair, her ability doesn’t last forever, and on top of that if I’m not mistaken, that was post violent knife fight Nokk so it’s not like they didn’t know she was there. She was probably in a hurry and got a bit sloppy.
It is ironic though that she of all operators was the one caught on camera

My headcannon to explain the crowd is that the crowd are soldiers of each operators home country

Honestly I think the best way for siege to move forward, is to have the ranked 5v5 be the main game. But periodically have events which are like story/campaign that progresses the lore. One example I think they can take inspiration from is the outbreak event. The event can be a pve/narrative based.
I said this before to a friend but they should have added new situations with each season that tie in to the lore.
4:32 if thats harry's idea for the base they could have just done it all on hereford since it has all of the logistical bonuses too

Not voicelines that would clog up your audio too much but just a little something.
Ecc)
All of the cosmetics are merely the characters cosplaying, master chief in game is just sledge in a costume
Mommy and Daddy"
Also, the characters are being copied so only their copy dies.
Live service battle pass storytelling is a failed experiment, and going "well everything else is bad too" doesn't make it good
@@TheButterAnvil yes, exactley
nokk got detected on cam lol
the stadium stuff definitely was to cash in on esports but its not like competitions for groups like these don't exist UAE has a SWAT competition for teams around the world
the real question is, how does this all tie in to the arknights collab. Asking the important questions here 🤔
Even if stuff is being omitted, the lore itself is convoluted, doesn’t actually play well with every character playing together in game, and a lot of the story having no … point.
People can like the game, but my hairy ass has more “grounded military narrative” than Ubisoft’s writing room.
jynxzi in the top left is hilarious
Siege's comic and story telling is much harder to access than most other MP games. in a game like TF2 a comic release was a major event in siege i will never hear from an official source that there's a new comic book released for the update. the season reveals and showing off the game content with the cinematics and animation are good. we should at least have a link to view the comics from inside the game if not viewing it ingame.
I'm sure this video called "The Worst Lore in Modern Gaming" will have nuanced and good faith takes.
Breaking bad
Warzone got a coherent story during mw2019, bocw, and seasons three to six of mw2, everything fitted with the theme and settled things, and warzone is a game as a service
I was on your side until you called Siege a, 'Highly functional multiplayer game."
Compared to current shooters out rn😂 I can fairly confirm this to be true
@@Wake.Up. as much as I hate Valorant, Siege pales in comparison. Siege has the destruction engine, but the gunplay of siege fundamentally does not work. I use shadow play to clip deaths and kills all the time, and you'll see AT LEAST once a game you'll die or get a kill without ever actually putting your reticle on an enemy.
@@dethgnome I've seen a bunch of pro tournaments in valorent clips that tell me otherwise. But the fact that seige is still going strong although being an 8 year old game is commendable
the point of the video isn’t to “pick sides”💀
@@Wake.Up. Oh I'm sure Valorant has the same problem too, but for Siege it's EVERY match.
It’s a nice attempt of a defence but even with added context the story is still a bit silly stupid I’m sorry
honestly game modes similar to article 5 to show off different "normal" operations the operators go on would be great, because a high class high level org such as rainbow wouldnt be the *only* people fighting a threat as big as deimos alone, and rainbow would be sent on countless CT missions everywhere that can be turned into small PVE events to show how much a *worldwide* CT team they are
Hah! I got that vid in my recommended about a week ago. I intended to watch it, but haven’t had a chance.
The arena is definitely stupid lore-wise because that many people while the ops are busy shooting eachother with bb guns is a really easy target. That, and the "showing everything off" thing
I disagreed with that video until the new comic came out
We dont even know, what the ending of that comic implies. Im very much interested into what Ash is planning as I very much doubt that she would be fooled by Deimos that easily
@@marcusorban2439 the writing is pretty clearly on the wall, there setting up a Deimos redemption arc and in the process ruining all the good lore from the last year
@@kingjom5651you're either slow or joking... It's clearly a set up and there is no "redemption" gonna be happening for deimos.
@@tradingflame4718 i sincerely hope your right, that’s definitely not the vibe I got tho
@@marcusorban2439Ash being stupid and replacing Harry in this regard. She didn't learn anything from Nighthaven.
They should just retcon the crowd being there as something the operators felt in their minds, I could see them having a lore video where one of them s talking about harry and the stadium and saying how it felt like it was a sport with crowds of fans or something
oh wow the guy who made his career on a bad lore game defending the bad lore!!! color me surprised because i could’ve never seen this coming
I understand why most people don’t like the stadium lore but I enjoyed it. Imo the gadgets were already getting out there and stuff like kali using a sniper doesn’t make sense so i just enjoyed the cinematics that came with it
The whole nighthaven thing seemed a bit too drama driven but again I enjoyed the cinematic so yeah.
Harry was the true villan of r6
Reason I loved the chimera event was because it was portrayed as a serious event. Not some goofy whatever this was in the stadium and Harry. They are supposed to be counter terrorism units. The best of the best. Not goofy characters
This lore sucks because nobody dies, only non operators which is lame, Idc about white masks or even plot at this point cause the amount plot amour every character has is crazy.
counter terrorism team turned airsoft team is hilarious though
I also take massive issue with the handling of Deimos as a villain. He's hyped up for what? Like a year? Then is captured IMMEDIATELY at the start of the next year, it's absolutely stupid that the BiG bAd EvIL gUY is just dumpstered immediately. I am of the opinion that the stadium can work... through the eye of the spectators being other spec ops units being able to support their country and operators and learn from them in a more "relaxed" setting
It's not immediate tho. He's escaped them a few times, including when he jumped out of a cargo plane because Brava chose to save Capitão over capturing him
His joke about being a Copper rank in a previous video definitely hinted at himself being a Copper rank lore guy
Blood did not digest the R6 comics and it shows
The comics just advertise new ops lol
I want to see a want mask event driven event. Kinda like an outbreak event. But white mask centered.
And that they probably wouldn’t turn a profit unless they made it paid DLC. Which most people realistically wouldn’t buy.
they have removed a lot of support for AI from siege. the new AI is built from the ground up. hopefully it stops hackers from taking advantage of things they never should have.
simplify lore can make any game looks bad, the last of us for example:
joel gets the job of delivering a girl for a group, they get to the meeting point and nobody was there, his friend tess dies and he continues his mission, he finds his brother and continues his mission, he finds the group and decides to kill every one and make all his journey meaningless
Ikr imagine doing this to a game like assassin’s creed💀 guy dressed in white with a hood doesn’t like other guy in a white lab coat, goes back as his ancestor to find a glowing ball and then the glowing ball starts killing😂 everyone
@@mr.reptarthe only difference is every assassin‘s Creed is the exact same game with different paint. It’s the same shit through and through. Siege lore was always horrible after white mask bc they had no intention of building apon it
@@jointfreeman3971 idk about that one dawg maybe the most recent but Altair and Ezio had actual lore that is the foundation, other than AC origins which shows Amunet making that more believable than whatever tf Valhalla did. You can’t really bag rainbow that hard they definitely take a fat L for the dumb esports tie in but lore definitely wasn’t on their mind, or maybe it was just a series of unfortunate events for ubi and said Fuc it we ball and did what they did for deadly omens.
@@mr.reptar that I know for sure but again it isn’t any real story telling it’s just the same thing through and through. imagine hundreds of thousands playing a game that's about oil and slapping augmented people that justifiably rebel against the completely corrupt goverment of earth
I feel like operation vector glare was kinda useless since the only reason they needed the guy was for his blueprints and for him to get them inside
While the Stadium era was off, I do like the talking heads showing off the character's personalities, if only we got that but in a different context
As much as I hate to admit it i think hes mostly right besides the weird talon comparisons. Siege just isnt as interesting as the other games in the series or even other titles like splinter cell. It doesnt help this game has most of the plot out of the game which i find to be lame whenever its done

how is that your conclusion? did you even watch the video
“Erm actually 🤓☝️” ahh video💀
18:10 in overwatch we can play reaper who is fighting 76.... so i dont see the problem
The game lore is cringe
17:13 it’s like saying, in Harry Potter, Voldemort killed Harry’s parents so Harry killed Voldemort years later. 🤣
Of course kudos thinks the lore works, his whole channel is based off of theorizing bad siege lore
His channel doesn’t revolve just around lore, and even then it’s a subjective thing, you don’t have to enjoy the lore or think it’s good.
@@Grusken19
It's what made his channel take off though. He even titled the video "R6 Lore guy Reacts to "The Worst Lore in Modern Gaming". So the point stands that he's of course going to defend the lore since it's what built his career on RUclips, regardless of whether it's good or not.
I saw it on my page a few days ago and I literally said kudos ain’t gonna be happy about this

Dude got a duffel bag 💀 candy cartel
out of topic but, seeing how ubi doesn't want to kill it's operators got me pondering, what if Fyi Shaoji took over R6S lore?
I thought at first that the tournament audience was fake. At least when they first introduced it. But i guess it was real the whole time? It's honestly a confusing mess. I have no idea what the Devs were thinking.
Issue with the original narrative: IF they wanted to "use real world scenarios", the BIG problem is political correctness.
You can't just say "let's use Russia's army!" "Let's use Iran's Army!" "Let's use North Korea's Army!" without
A.) Stereotyping those specific regions and peoples as villains (which isn't true of the people)
B.) Create a LOT of political issues. Not even for PC, but international relationships would suddenly get rocky because "WHY IS MY COUNTRY BEING PORTRAYED AS VILLAINS??" issues from major leaders from those countries.
I'm all for a villain in a story, but it needs to make sense and NOT be a major organization. Making it a known IRL entity is just begging for Ubi to get IRL bombed by a radical / extremist group or something.
