Forgot to mention a couple of other things as well. Low kicks are also allowed, and you can kick, punch, knee or elbow the entire body (minus the groin), including the back and the back of the head.
Elbows are usually taught to be arc down unless you do it from behind then it’s arc upwards towards the head with your opponent behind you. Knees are also arc upwards when clinching your opponent and you can also block kicks with your knee cap
There are quite a few techniques they didn't show here. One is a knee strike to the face after jumping up from the opponent's leg. Another is similar, but instead of coming up with the knee, you come down with one or both elbows to the top of the opponent's head. Someone mentioned Muay Boran. Yep, even more hardcore, although possibly not the original. Muay Thai is the "safe" version, but people still die in matches...probably with a lot higher frequency than any other "official" combat sport.
So that move that you are speaking of is not meant to be practical what so ever. It was used for shows to demonstrate (muay boran techniques)… in order to launch off of your opponent’s leg and knee them in the face, 1) you would have to have significant forward motion and 2) you would have to be fighting someone as slow as snail and as stiff as a statue. The same goes with the double elbow move you are speaking of… not a soul on earth would sit still in the perfect muay thai position while somebody launches off of their leg, into the air and stays still long enough for their opponent to perfectly execute an in air elbow or knee.
Muay Thai has long been used in various battles and wars in the past. Each of them was extremely life threatening. Muay Thai today is much safer than ancient Muay Thai.
scary stuff. I remember a Muey Thai fighter kicked 300 pound monster man Brock Lesnar in the ribs and dropped him! A kick that can drop him would probably kill a normal guy.
Muay Thai can only be used in a self defensive situation if you have trained in it for 6 years or more to have proper developed shins. As for myself I train on Heavy bag only due to not being able to afford Muay Thai training at a gym neither the transportation! I trained in Muay Thai conditioning as of now just a few days/ times now and look forward to continuing!
Ive once kneed someone in the stomach/chest while fighting and thats when I realized how dangerous it is when done properly because the person I fought couldn’t stand up... then I watched this and it says the knee strike can put 2 tons of force 💀 damn, I feel it now
Muay Thai in the olden days Used to kill people in the war. In the war is called. Ja-tu-rong-ka-brad To protect the elephant and the king. Therefore, each of the skills of Muay Thai will knock the opponents become unconscious or die in a one skill.
...sounds like you believe a little bit too much in the fantasy. No single strike guarantees a knockout, especially since there are plenty of strikes that don't actually aim to deliver one, even in Muay Thai. For example, the elbow strike that was shown will actually very rarely result in anything remotely close to a knockout, what it's meant to do is use the sharp surface on that part of the elbow to open a cut, typically over the opponent's eye. It's a move that disorients and debilitates, thus letting you set up other moves that are much more likely to actually end the fight. Also, killing techniques do exist, but not in Muay Thai, at least not in its modern rendition. It's also a long, long way from being the only martial art used for warfare. Japanese soldiers were commonly trained in Karate, Judo and Japanese Jujutsu, in fact, most modern Judo throws had to be dramatically altered because the original techniques they were derived from were designed to have the opponent land on their head or neck, thus killing them. Traditional Karate also has a litany of strikes to the eyes and throat, the latter of which can also result in killing an opponent. Chinese soldiers were often trained in a style of Kung Fu, although Kung Fu is an umbrella term for Chinese martial arts, and that has far too long and varied a history for me to make any comments on specific techniques. Either way this training commonly included weapons, and the unarmed techniques from these styles have in some way influenced most of the martial arts that came out of Asia. It's unfortunate that a lot of the Kung Fu styles used in warfare have been lost to time, and that there are so many people looking to cash in on it, but there are still places that train legitimate Kung Fu, they're just increasingly rare as time goes by.
Watching all these "ain't got shit if they pull a knife" arguments and I have to laugh. Muay Thai was originally developed as Muay boran, as a way of fighting armed opponents while unarmed. It was pretty successful. All of you can be ignorant weeaboos all you want and talk all the shit you want about Muay Thai but keep in mind Muay Thai itself is actually the cleaned up SAFE version of its original art. Muay Thai is the sport form that had many techniques lost over the years due to high amounts of deaths involved with it. On a separate note, you all can fear the gray people but I feel bad for the real people you see getting SLAMMED the fuck down before they show the gray people breakdown. Like fuck are they alright?!
I've studied and mastered in Muay Boran and don't take Muay Thai to lightly a lot of the techniques are still there and still just as deadly if used properly.
Yes. Having the learned moves, speed, strength, agility, [extreme] pain conditioning, determination and cool head is all the difference between life or death. A lot depends on the attacker too, but chances are on the side of the trained for surviving. One simply wants to get away, or if that's not an option; get a more fearsome weapon [a wooden chair is devastating in tossing and stabbing..], not kill the dude.
So practice Muay Thai but add some of the highly effective concepts from western boxing and practice BJJ but add some of the highly effective concepts from wrestling. Got it
It really depends on the fighter, not the art, that determines whether or not a strike is strong. Anyone can learn how to use the Muay Thai roundhouse; it's not truly exclusive to the martial art, as Karate and Taekwondo will testify. Muay Thai tends to train the practitioner more in terms of physical exercise, which is why it tends to hit much harder. But if you take a Muay Thai newbie against an experienced fighter regardless of martial art, the fighter will often be the one with the stronger kick. Your day of knocking people out in one blow will come if you train hard enough. It's not the art that makes you strong, but it's you.
Personally I think Muay Thai is one of the best self defense sport. Some moves might appear simple but they are very effective and can break bones. I train Muay Thai at home not a lot but it’s very effective especially when you fight someone bigger than you
I dont know bro. Thats quite unrealistic if you ask me. If a bigger opponent also knows how to fight even without martial arts backgrpund he can also beat a martial artist. But since MT is a hand to hand cma iys quite very obcvious that a bigger person will win in a fight if you only rely on being omgbak and MA. Sire muay will win if we will talk about stand up combat with scoring rules with points but if that same bigger guy goes all out...Yo gotta watch your back. Remember MA is only like a book of lnowledge its not basically a weapon. YOU ARE THE WEAPON.
@@raymundbalce4550 Literally one kick to the knee/ribs or a single elbow and the bigger guy is gone. You have way more range aswell since people who don't train will almost never go for kicks
@@tarambukis-c2q the reality is unpredictable my man. Tge best defense is just to avoid fights PERIOD. Reality is no joke when adrenaline comes high. One kick? Really dude?!
@Keyboard Legend i cant find any videos of that kind of muay thai but there is one i think you will like that was used in the 20th century where muay thai had flashy moves like spike elbows and karate kicks
@lelennyfox34 There are some legitimate moves that are very, very likely to kill someone. Most throws in modern Judo for example, were adapted from older techniques, however the throws themselves had to be drastically altered because those older techniques would have the opponent land on their head or neck, which in most cases was lethal. There are also a lot of strikes to the throat in martial arts, but very few of them are actually lethal, for the most part they're just supposed to buy a person a few moments to land a strike, although there was one that I saw from a Chinese style that essentially tore out a person's (in this case a dummy's) adam's apple. I feel like that would do the trick. Yes all that "touch of death" stuff is bullshit, but there are a lot of things that a person needs in order to function, and not all of those things are well protected. Learning these still won't really help anyone as a martial artist, in my opinion. All of them rely on things that would get someone banned from even the most brutal competition in an instant, and if someone's the kind of person that wouldn't hesitate to tear another person's throat out, I feel like they were dangerous enough without martial arts.

I know this comment is 4 months old but this is funny you basically just explained keyboard warriors
yeah because only Americans use internet
and americans are scared to fight in real life
Haha oh those crazy Muay Thai fighters and their bloody oak shins
best martial art on this planet !!!
I wouldn't say that. I love Muay Thai, but it's not the best. There is no best.
Ivan Kicks Puppys Based on what physical evidence? Can we isolate the variable of the style from that of the fighter using it?
best in attacking and defense, best of both !!
Not really...most of the attacking and defending methods are common to most other martial arts.
Defense is the same as in other striking styles i can already tell you don't even train Muay Thai.
It's called the art of 8 limbs
the best striking style IMO
This video is awesome man
One of those Martial arts that really does come In handy
Forgot to mention a couple of other things as well. Low kicks are also allowed, and you can kick, punch, knee or elbow the entire body (minus the groin), including the back and the back of the head.
I like the shadow fight soundtrack in the background. Brings back memories
Lesson learned. Now find a victim on the street, brb.

Human weapon and banged up abroad were some of best and my fvrt shows.

Thank you for letting me know what a must thai user will do 😃, now I know the best counter to it is running the fuck away
I can't wait to use these techniques for my first world champion fight.
Elbows are usually taught to be arc down unless you do it from behind then it’s arc upwards towards the head with your opponent behind you. Knees are also arc upwards when clinching your opponent and you can also block kicks with your knee cap
This gonna register all of my 5 limbs as a deadly weapon
เขาเรียกท่านั้นว่า ฤษีบดยา ถ้าลงจากหลังช้างในสงคราม มวยไทยห้ามใช้ แต่มวยไชยา หรือ มวยโบราณใช้ได้
Muay Thai has long been used in various battles and wars in the past. Each of them was extremely life threatening. Muay Thai today is much safer than ancient Muay Thai.
where can i read more about that?

I thought it sent me the “silence of the limbs”
scary stuff.
Those elbow and knee strikes are absolutely ruthless when employed properly.
แน่นอนจริงๆๆ ศึกษาถึงขั้นละเอียดละออทุกอย่าง
thanks for the tips! my wife wont know what hit her
Ive once kneed someone in the stomach/chest while fighting and thats when I realized how dangerous it is when done properly because the person I fought couldn’t stand up... then I watched this and it says the knee strike can put 2 tons of force 💀 damn, I feel it now
Muay Thai in the olden days Used to kill people in the war.

Steel chair steel chair its all over! Haha
Weeaboos has nothing to do with thai culture.
They ain't gonna have shit if the attacker pulls out a gun though
"The moon landing was CGI!"
CGI in the 2000s:
So practice Muay Thai but add some of the highly effective concepts from western boxing and practice BJJ but add some of the highly effective concepts from wrestling. Got it
Pretty much yea and you just made yourself the strongest martial art ever. Train thai boxing clinch and jiu jitsu and you're literally unstoppable
I had no idea we were this strong
It really depends on the fighter, not the art, that determines whether or not a strike is strong. Anyone can learn how to use the Muay Thai roundhouse; it's not truly exclusive to the martial art, as Karate and Taekwondo will testify. Muay Thai tends to train the practitioner more in terms of physical exercise, which is why it tends to hit much harder. But if you take a Muay Thai newbie against an experienced fighter regardless of martial art, the fighter will often be the one with the stronger kick.
Your day of knocking people out in one blow will come if you train hard enough. It's not the art that makes you strong, but it's you.

my opponent cant fight back if hes dead
Personally I think Muay Thai is one of the best self defense sport. Some moves might appear simple but they are very effective and can break bones. I train Muay Thai at home not a lot but it’s very effective especially when you fight someone bigger than you
what happesn if the bigger guy know muay Thai?
@@frkangungor wrestling also since wrestling is also taught for tough people. Well what do I know it depends on the fighter how he executes the art.

Lawrence kenshin: explosive war old style muay thai
