The winner in civilized society is the one that can deescalate and talk the best, followed by fire a taser or pepper spray the best. MMA vs everything else it’s already been done. Facts are MMA stemmed from all of the best of many styles that proved to work. Most often people go into MMA knowing 2 or more styles usually grappling submission based and a stand up base style then learn and adapt from there on based on what works. So even the baddest of one style can be beaten if they aren’t well versed on all styles that don’t anger to as many ring rules but more real life situation rules. Johnson’s really good rodtang is one of the best in his field yet he lost. The man never loses. Even gave him the first round his way.

You could tell Rodtang only did enough practice in MMA to know how dangerous it would be to be grabbed. Johnson didn't try to go full kickboxer to win. He needed to keep his pacing up and wait it out.
I saw another fight yesterday that was quite the opposite. It was an MMA match in which you could tell one guy trained BJJ almost exclusively. The Thai fighter was good at "just get up." So he neutralized the ground game and got up to keep kicking the BJJ guy.

If Rodtang was fully trained in the Thai martial art of Muay, he would have had done much better than that. But, he did exceptionally well for the agreed upon rules and was a real champion after his defeat.
In Rodtang's defense, a person who has truly learned traditional Thai martial arts, Muay Thai is for sport. For fun and betting. A way to earn money and pass the time. To gamble and provide for your family.
True practitioners of Muay, Muay Boran or even the teachings from the Chapasarat, are fully versed techniques of self-defense meant for war and combat. It was MMA before MMA became popularized.
Striking with the limbs, joints, feet, head, and the posterior of the body to hit all areas in self defense including the eyes and genitals.
There are also grappling techniques. Not exactly the same as what the world knows but similar. To subdue and/or break limbs.
Lastly, techniques with weapons. Like Krabi Krabong. Dual swords, dual spears, sword or spear with shield, knives, and tonfas'.
Basically, a person similar to a young Tony Jaa (Jaa Pahnom) who is in fact a Master of Muay Boran.
To me, MMA is like becoming Frankenstein. An amalgamation of the best parts of numerous different systems, but not a true martial art in the traditional sense as a whole.
Yes, learning the best parts is good, but if you don't understand the weaknesses that come along with them also, you're cheating yourself on improving. A jack of all trades, but master of none.
Those in MMA are great fighters none the less. That can't be taken away.
Everyone will have different thoughts on this and that's ok.

Now if these 2 met in the real life time as enemies about fight. There isnt gonna be ok we fight Muay Tai first then MMA next. MMA coming out the gate. MMA is clear winner no matter what. 1 art vs all arts.

Johnson was getting shitmixed in that fight. Got lucky to get an advantageous position on Rodtangs back for the choke. Had that fight remained strikes / on their feet Johnson was done for

The only way you ever get better is when you lose I hope the Muay Thai fighter learns from this and decides to learn some grappling. I believe if he can learn to grapple, he will be a very good UFC fighter he definitely has the conditioning and the experience. I don’t think it will be too difficult for him to become a good grappler,, maybe two or three years under some of the best trainers and will be ready.. another good thing from this is that it took some of the arrogance that a lot of the Muay Thai fighters seem to have by claiming that their system is the best / in the UFC or MMA , There are no rules you can do anything you want you can use. the kryptonite of MT is grappling against the grappler you gotta learn both. If you wanna be a complete fighter. Best to use striking arts in the streets because you never know who the guys friends are that might sneak up behind you while you’re trying to do a rear naked choke and people decide to start kicking you in the head, even worse - weapons. Thailand people have a very great pride in their arts and in their country. I’m not sure that this contest will make them see that they need to learn grappling. Hopefully they will.. because I think Thailand has a very good supply of good fighters. If they are trained in the MMA systems they can really dominate. They just need to lower their ego whether they are champion or not a champion and if the American guy wants to learn MT he has a whole new skill set to learn and train but MT is only good when you’re standing up.

In a stand up fight, there is almost nothing more scary then these pro mauy Thai guys! But once you being them to the ground, they become white belts.

The bite and other deadly target areas are the way out of those elementary grappling techniques. Obviously not part of the fun in the ring, but don't be choked out and curb stomped in the street
Better to be judged by 12 than carried away by 6
    Interesting fight anyways
I wonder why the boxer came out slow in the 2nd...

He got lucky cuz Muay Thai has no ground game at all. Maybe that was the plan all along.
