Us arsenal fans are extremely rash with our judgment, lose one game, arteta out, win one game, the quadruple is basically ours. If we win against bayern on wednesday we will be singing praises of everyone on our team.

It's not one game season started way back in mid- 2023.
It didn't start at 2024 how many fans like these are trying to gaslight into saying it's only one game in 2024 also forgetting we lost to Liverpool & Porto in 2024 itself. Most fans understand title is done Man City are displaying better form and have easier games.

Who is saying Teta out? The reaction is because, being realistic, we are reliant on Man City dropping points. And that is highly unlikely.
We are in the mix because of Teta and how he changed our season since Dubai.
The only thing we can do is not let the season derail. If we take a lot of points in the next 6 games and fall short. It's one of them. And not a bottle job. That is the minimum target now. Don't let the wheels come off. Stay in contention. And if we fall short, we do so with our head held high

It feels like League title is gone because of City and especially PEP. Pep set huge standarts to win a league. Small Margins. You drop points in 5-6 games and potencially you lose a title. Only 3 managers won a title challenging Pep - Mourinho with Centurion season with Real, Conte in first Pep season in EPL and Klopp with fantastic season and City getting "only" 81 pts 😅

The bottling has started. At the exact same point of last season as well & the season before(when we bottled top 4) if my memory is correct. Previous 2 seasons we blamed it all on injuries. Well this season, our injured players have actually come back fully fit. So what's the excuse now? When are we going to accept that this group of players crumble under pressure. Unless we bring in atleast 2 world class players (in the mould of a salah n debryune) who can change a game in an instant on their own, we ain't winning the pl or ucl...

We as a fanbase are far too bipolar, when City had that October-November stump you wouldnt have seen a single city fan calling for Pep's head, a single loss in an almost perfect 2024 and everybodys calling us Bottlers. Hate singling out players but Saka can barely take a step before a fullback is coming to kick him down whilst Zinchenko gives wingers as fast as Salah Sane and Diaby all the space they wanted. Ive gone through too many hardships as an arsenal fan to give up at a time like this, we'll see how we respsond against bayern, praying we at least make the semis

The off-the-ball stuff arsenal have excelled, outplayed everyone. There is a reason for that. It comes at the price of having sufficient breaks between games. Arsenal clicked into gear since the new year, think why? Out of both cups only 1 game a week till porto. Which again was a tie that showed the levels dropping. If arteta wants to become a successful manager he again needs to tweak the system and give up control. These high intensity off the ball work rate is not sustainable. Also I feel arteta's lack of use of his players is the next danger, the moment 2-3 key players pick injury together. The drop off in level will be huge. Saka/Both CB/Rice being irreplacable currently imo.

It feels like there is an issue with this Arsenal team in terms of managing themselves. Managing the highs and lows. I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty concerned about our away leg at Bayern. Its not as much the fact that we might lose, its the nature of the possible loss that concerns me. Last year against Brighton, we absolutely surrendered. If Bayern tack on the pressure early, and they score a goal in those early stages, I'm going to be very concerned. It seems like when we are on a high, we cannot be touched. We could beat any team in the world. When we are on our lows however, we cannot seem to stop that avalanche of bad results. That to me has to be something that speaks to both management, as well as the mentality of the players.
Its too early to say that this was a repeat of last year, but this week and the next 2/3 fixtures are critical to see if we have made any kind of progress. Again I dont mind that we lose to Bayern, but we should be competitive, we have that quality. And we need to get a win against Wolves over the weekend.
My goal when we started the season was getting over 85 points, and quarter finals. I'm going to amend that a little bit now to say that the goal should be to still get over 85 points, and we need to be competitive against Bayern, win or lose. If we lose, it cannot be by more than 1 goal. And this Wolves game now has become pivotal.

If we do get hammered at Bayern I worry for the rest of the season. We might take it really badly

    • @FLASK904
      @FLASK904 5 месяцев назад

@@Sdrawkcab_mi Yeah, I mean on one hand, these are the margins at the top of the table, playing with elite teams. City are very good at managing their bad games to not allow for a net effect. When they lose, they come out really strong in the next fixture. We have to get better at that, finding points from fixtures where we are not playing well. The perfect example is the Fulham, and Villa game over the holidays. If we don't concede 2 goals (1 to Fulham, and one to Villa), we are tied at the top of the table right now on points.
I think its all just a learning process. However we do need to show progress this season, we have to find a way to keep the pressure on City, and not let them get the league by default. If we capitulate again, and City win this league by game week 36/37, I will really have to ask some questions about how we are doing this year after year.
I dont like to question this about professional athletes, but I am concerned about the mental side of the game for these youngsters. I'm hoping players like Rice, Jesus, Odegaard, Gabriel, figure out a way past this mental block.

One difference between last year and this year re: Zinchenko is simply that we don't have Granit Xhaka to cover. Xhaka has a really good reading of the game where he can very easily understand when to push forward and crash the box, and where to step back and cover, allowing Zinny to move forward. This year, the balance has shifted, where you'll see Rice/the left 8 pushing really high up and Gabriel shifting left to cover the space as Zinchenko moves centrally and up the pitch. But this creates an imbalance particularly on fast breaks where we don't always have coverage. We've seen Martinelli drop back a lot consistently this season to help out, but then this means he's not always available as an outlet when we have the opportunity.

It feels catastrophic, not necessarily because we lost. But because we are 2 points behind City, with 6 games to go. And ain't no one expecting City to drop points.
Let's get this straight. Losing to Villa at the weekend didn't cost us the title. It is incredible that we even had it in our own hands, after that run towards the end of 2023.
We have to take the plaudits. Cause we are only in the question because of the incredible form since the New Year.
If this is the only loss in the PL until the seasons end. We can quite rightly say that we didn't bottle anything. We dragged ourselves back into contention. And one loss was enough for City to beat us to the line. And we will have lost the title in the back end of 23. But we are still in amazing form in 2024 and we go again.
On the flip side. If the wheels come off now. We will get top 3 but go into next season with valid arguments that we bottled it two years in a row. And that would be a shame because we have genuinely improved this season.
I can't see us making up 2 points in the last 6 games. Unfortunately. We need to finish the season well and anything is possible. But if we fall short, a couple points behind City. We haven't bottled anything. We go into 24/25 as one of the best teams in Europe. Perhaps even as holders of the league or maybe even the CL.
The worst thing that we can do from here is derail. For psychological reasons as much as keeping the title alive

Key to how we played this year was control. Apart from the huge scorelines, those with lower gaps were still from control or as what Arteta prefers to call it, dominance.
But Zinchenko overplayed his importance to the team by being too anxious to create something. Each time he got the ball he was looking to go for the killer pass and several were late resulting in offsides or loose both allowing Villa to keep the ball and grow in confidence. Didn’t help that at 0-0 he elected to play ‘gentleman’ and kick the ball out of play. Even Saka was exasperated. And when we conceded I think the team’s mentality was collectively pointed at Zinchenko having wasted too many moments and mentally drained to chase the ball for the 2nd.
It was practically all Zinchenko last night as much as your ‘objective’ pundits would hate to admit it.

Totally agree with George. Arteta's Achilles' heel has always been his failure to rotate when appropriate. Now it seems like most of our key guys are banged up and or overextended going into the stretch run. That said, while it may not be likely, it's certainly not unthinkable that City potentially drop points in one of their remaining away matches. Now, it's time for Arsenal to show if they have really matured mentally. A win against Bayern would be a huge psychological boost. Meanwhile, it's not hard to imagine where a loss could easily lead to another late season collapse.

Another observation, Trossard repeatedly seems to fail in releasing passes to more advanced players with high-lines at our mercy

Is it me or does it seem that a lot of teams rotate, rest players and give up even before they set foot on the pitch against city. They have some kind of aura that makes it even easier for them. Granted they have worked hard for a decade to creat it so hats off but its annoying watching teams just try and get through a game without spilling every drop of blood to try and get a result like they do against arsenal and Liverpool. Man city must get given at least 10 games a season at this point just by the opposition surrendering before a ball is kicked. annoying.

I can't excuse our second half performance yesterday. But it was always going to be a tall order for us to push city to the very end of the season.
We all know that city finish the season strongly and if we compare our final run-in games compared to city, its much harder on our front than theirs.
Having said that, we should have been winning going into half time yesterday. Our players missed very good chances and it just goes to show the pressure can still get to us. Yes, we have good squad depth, but it's not brilliant. We lack top cover for Saka, Odegaard and Saliba, as well as a top, top forward.
Overall, this season has been progressive (pushing the league in a 3 horse race, until now. And getting to at least the quarter finals of the champions league), but mainly on a defensive front we have improved quite a bit.
We just need a strong summer of incoming and outgoings. Then, next season Arteta needs to find a better balance of squad rotation. As even though he has improved on that front this season, he still hasnt been excellent at it. We cannot play Saliba, Gabriel, Odegaard, Saka, Rice pretty much every game. They have tired because they are playing every 3-4 days and have played pretty much all other games in the league, champions league and some Cup games. We need that quality depth to be able to come in and do what needs to be done at a top level.
I do think we have missed what Timber could have brought to the team this season and the same for what a fully fit Partey can bring as well, but we do lack a killer striker, who given half a chance will bury it.
Either way, there is still games to be played and this team is still capable of putting a strong end to the season, even if it ends like last season (finishing 2nd).

Kiwior has been cooked every game he played, no other player in Arsenal plays between the lines except Zinchenko. He even created some of the best chances but the forwards didn't convert. First goal was Martinelli's mistake because he didn't cover Bailey. Zinchenko made only one mistake ln the game but you guys are putting all the blame on him.

...then why not try playing zinchenko in midfield, playing him at LB is like a double edge sword, we know what he's going to offer us bit it comes with a cost, why not pair him with rice in midfield, so he would be free from defending wide spaces

The J5 and TP conversation is funny with regards to rice. The only reason they’re needed is because they have to babysit rice with regards to passing and build up play because if his passing was there, what is the actual need of either of them.

If Ode is taking build up responsibilities why would you play Jorginho. At least Partey is a specialist and more athletic than Odegaard

We have a GK that can’t make saves, a LB that cant defend, a ST who can’t score. Make it make sense.
