The show’s budget was too small at the start and by the time we got to the later seasons it would have been weird to introduce people and houses other than the main ones we saw.
They also just dont matter all that much no more. They were already in decline by the time of Roberts rebellion and with him on the throne they lost almost all influence. Their liege stands held em on a short leash as well I am sure

So in the real world, it would be more logical if the dragon riders were primarily dark skinned to begin with. Either way, the books don't really mention skin color so the only reason why people complain about Coryls Velaryon being Black is because of racism, plain and simple. Unfortunately for bigots, they don't get to decide who plays these roles, let them cry and be helpless to do anything about it because the show will go on regardless of their racism.

The HBO series made such a mockery of the Iron Born. Turning GRRMs "Vikings" of westeros into a bunch of fools weaklings and cartoonish pirate's. Culminating in Euron Greyjoy behaving like Jack Sparrow on steroids, instead of literally the most dangerous man in Essos & Westeros, who's about to awaken a legion of ancient Lovecraftian horror's and turn them loose on the world. At least I hope he does that, I hope it's not all talk. I've had too many dreams of Cthulhu battling Drogon for it all to mean nothing

There are black people in the lore, called summer islanders. So if they wanted more black people in the show, they should be from that region rather than westeros. Being said, I don't really care if Corlys is black, he's still a cool character from what the lore states. Maybe the show should have retconned House Velaryon to be half summer islander half valyrian, just my opinion though

For example, daemon and laenas daughters look completely black but theyre supposed to be 75% white since daemon is 100% white and laena is 50% white due to her mom rhaenys. Those daughters definitely don't look 75% white and not even mixed. They just look black. They really couldn't have hired 2 girls who were like half/half? There's no example in reality where someone 75% white looks 0% white. That just sound strange to even fathom.
