They didn't steal anyone's slots, they didn't prevent anyone from getting in, they're an excellent way to pseudo-have characters who couldn't or wouldn't be in, and they're the Create-A-Fighter option many other fighting games have. And what's really hilarious/sad is that the fans of those games have never complained about being able to make your own characters, while Smash fans whine and moan about them constantly.

It came close with Brawl with a few characters, but even that wasn’t broken, and a really easy solution is to not play with broken characters. There’s over 70 characters. Odds are 65 of them won’t be broken, and Nintendo has a better track record than others when it comes to their fighting game. All they have to do is tweak a few things, and it’s fixed. At their worst, there’s been, like, maybe 3 broken characters in one game. 67+ non-broken characters in this game is alright with me.

They'll never admit Melee is unbalanced and broken, but they'll gladly say everything from every other Smash game is. Everything that guy called broken wasn't even close to broken
