This is by far the best reveal for a character for smash and will always be.
1) it was done before the game came out.
2) everybody thought it was just persona coming to switch or a persona spin off game, so nobody had any hints or inclinations to it.
3) the reveal was no action, just a simple turn of an envelope.

I believe both Hero and Banjo were leaked but there was far more certainty over Hero than Banjo. As for Terry though I wasnt aware I think he too was leaked prior to the 9/4 direct. But Sans was not leaked so that came as a surprise to everyone.

My favorite part about smash is even if I don’t know the character, the curiosity gets the best of me and I research and play the game that character is from!

same, now im playing persona 3 and 4
Yeah. Joker was released and a few days later I watched my first playthrough of P5. Since then i've watched about 4 p5 playthroughs from FFP, BSG, Musical and Nico, 4 P4G playthroughs from Nico, Shenpai, Johne and Nico again and 1 P3 FES playthrough by Johne. Furthermore, I have personally played through p5 clocking in at 118hrs, watched the 4 persona 4 fan movies, watched the 4 persona 3 movies in their entirety, watched BuffMaister's P1 movie and have now watched a speed run of P5R. Simply put, Joker had a massive impact on me.

I love how in addition to every last person screaming themselves hoarse, many people had the reaction to fearfully back away from their screen at the reveal. The reaction of "If I stay to close to my screen, my head might just explode from what I am seeing." And I am right along with them.

Remember what the Fighter Passes include? One new fighter, one new stage, and music to garnish the dlc. Fairly certain we are either going to get a stage from Smash Bros past, or a stage based off of Persona 5, which I find most likely to be the case.

@@KingMars47 as much as I enjoyed Persona Q, I didn't want Persona Q2. Felt like a rehash with the same gameplay mechanics, not to mention that I wasn't into my 3DS anymore at that point.
@@unLuigi all we can hope is a switch port. The 2nd screen can be toggled out since its just a map. Splatoon 2 fix this after the wii u forced you to use the gamepad. Just an example that it can be done
SageFlip it’s questionable it will ever come to switch as a port. They only managed joker because of Q2 being Nintendo exclusive. It would take some crash level background negotiations to get the core games from PlayStation.
To release Persona on the Switch alongside or near to release of Joker in Smash is actually good marketing, so who knows? It's a way to please the fans and Nintendo's wallet!

I saw a stream of Persona 5 the night before they announced Joker for Smash, and it was the first time I've ever heard of it so I was super hyped when I saw the trailer!
I love how all they had to do was put in that freaking envelope and then people explode! XD
It kills me that they didn't include Life Will Change in the music for Smash, especially seeing as it was the trailer song
