Actually his Dad died before the first gig - which I was at. The Live At Slane DVD, as far as I am aware, is from second gig which was a week after the first.
It is the perfect way to end the perfect concert if you ask me. Includes all the emotion Bono poured in to every song and threw it out at one last moment of greatness.
Just found out a friend that I went to grade school with past away from covid yesterday. We used to watch/listen to this concert all the time. When I heard the news I was shocked and I thought of the memories we had together which made me look this up. Peace and love everyone.
The live versions of the songs on that album far out do the arrangements of the originals… I guess that adds to the brilliance of one of my favourite bands. ❤

The DVD is from the second concert. There was more raw emotion during the first concert which was a week before this, as Bono's father had died days before. Think I recall this being called out as being for Bob Hewson during that first concert, but more than 20 years ago now so not 100% certain!
