  • In this video I am providing guidance how to change front spring on VW Touareg. Please note that this is not as easy as it looks like as the spring is extremely stiff and powerful. Touareg weights over 2 tonnes and it's not just ordinary SUV as this one is designed to actually deal with some serious terrain. Hence the undercarriage is build very solid. I would recommend for those of you that haven't changed spring in the past, simply to take out the front suspension out yourselves (to save cost) and take it over to local garage with new spring to swap over the spring by specialist press. With the proper machine this task takes only 10 minutes. Then install the suspension yourselves back on. This way you have the best of both worlds, saving £ and have it done quickly as well. You can still do it home, but please be extra careful and never face the spring towards you but always sideways. Good luck.

You can leave the droplink on the strut and undo the bolt on the antiroll bar instead of removing the bolts on the driveshaft

Did the new spring sit a little both than the other side once you installed it. Even though it was the correct spring?
    Thanks

Don't get the tool he uses here. You're unable to use a torque wrench with it which IMO is critical. Best to get the Schwaben socket.

Is there any requirement to compress the spring as you put the control arms etc back in? Do they have to be jacked into position?
