Mid 20s, multiple kids, at least one of which happened in their teens. No insurance. She was named 50% responsible because she likely ran a red but officers couldn't definitively prove it. Literally are making all the wrong choices in life.

I've had lots of car insurance over 54 years and the ONLY times I have not had car insurance was when I didn't pay. Even switching.

They’re paying $18 an hour at warehouses in Memphis. FedEx is paying a $7 premium on weekends. She’s lazy. Work from home jobs paying $15 and you set your own schedule. She’s getting foodstamps is what it sounds like she’s dying to keep qualifying for

But people who drive without insurance are the best and safest drivers.

This is true. I forgot to sign up for health insurance in late 2019. Guess what happened in 2020!

I worked with a guy that was saving up $1200 to file bankruptcy on $2500, lol. He's in his mid 50's and just never seems to have grown any brains.
if you wreck your car, you DO NOT have to let them take it to storage. have the wrecker take the car to your house and leave it in the driveway.

@David H. no, when they impound owner changes if no insurance or must show proof of insurance. Many sign cars over to the lots.
Depending were you live this can be a problem and can cause fines. Especially if the neighbors make a big deal about it being an eye saw, etc etc

Being "in between' insurance coverages mean she didn't pay on the one and was trying to get new coverage in place, but was basically driving uninsured. What was she spending her money on?
Yea I was confused-was it the other persons insurance that declared her half at fault since she didnt have any coverage?

She's not even making minimum wage, but somewhere in their finances, they can pay the car insurance because they were doing it before the accident. It was just a dumb mistake to not have new coverage in place before cancelling the old one.

In HS 26 years ago I used to be able to bring in $500 a month working part time at $5.75 an hour, there is no excuse to only be bringing home a grand right now on today's market

My mom didnt have this kind of problem but she is a textbook example of what happens when you let life happen. She never acts until a situation is life threatening or a financial disaster is at the door. Never looked for a better job. Always just went wheree the job put her until it was out the door. Never saved for retirement alrhough my wife and i implored her for years to fund a 401k. Now she scrapes by on $17K/year. Shes good at being cheap but good heavens.
Americans marry way too early. Or rather get kids too early. Better to save up some wealth and get married/have kids in early 30s with a good nest wealth built up. Having two kids that are 6yo in your 20s will be so so tough on these guys. Probably paycheck to paycheck for the next foreseeable 25~30 years.

My ex-wife had us declare bankruptcy on $7000 about 20 years ago. I was making minimum wage and every time she even made the effort to get a job, she would come up with an excuse to quit.
I made basically minimum wage but she would always have us take out loans for various reasons.
How did the bankruptcy affect your life? I ask because maybe it can provide insight to us and the caller.

It feels more like they tried to explain it to him, and he was not getting it, or maybe that’s what she told him happened, and she’s lying.

Hey, Sid, if you get disconnected in handling a business transaction, you need to immediately call back and resume the conversation. If you got disconnected again by the same company on two calls on the same day that should have been a tip-off that they weren't legitimate, and you should have immediately gone to another insurance company. If they were going to jerk you around while you're trying to sign up to get insured, what do you think they're going to do if you ever have to file a claim?
This woman was driving around in an uninsured vehicle that she has a sub-prime car loan on, from one of these corner lot dealers at 15% or higher.
