MSP is very unique and i hope it gets more love in the coming years, as an illustrator myself i'd love to have it more welcomed for people to jump back to and work in
It's a rudimentary tool, but if you have a good idea and good workflow, you can do amazing stuff with it.

if you wanna just play around with it, press ctrl+e and click black and white mode.
if you make something you seriously like make sure to save often, since for some reason only b&w mode has a tendency to corrupt without warning, and you can’t recover anything
I remember when the anon who made this game was pitching the idea on /x/ and /v/ years ago. Played all the betas he gave us and was really involved in giving him as much feedback as I could and now this game feels like the child of a good friend that I've watched grow up

You know, for as much as 4chan has changed over the recent years, in many ways for the worse, there's still many people who are just seriously into a hobby or niche interest for the love of it, and they still to this day create by themselves, and help others develop, just for the pure passion of it, and I think that's great.

Things which I think have made it less fun over the years is how it attracts more and more attention, from less and less interesting and fun people. More and more you see annoying assholes who look at 4chan primarily as a platform for driving whatever social change they desire, online activists and people looking to advertise whatever virtues they hold, leading to a lot of worthless performative 'discussion' and "personal army" rallying, along with (in more recent years) all the shilling by corporations, government groups, and organized group efforts by the worst of the worst of the previously mentioned online activists (though some people just put organized effort into being a fucking cunt because they enjoy being a fucking cunt, without any kind of agenda).
If you noticed how the atmosphere on the internet overall grew a lot more tense with the 2016 American elections, that effect was very pronounced on 4chan, and by far has had the worst effect on the website than anything else in its history, worse than Project Chanology, worse than GamerGate, and I say that as someone who sympathizes with many sentiments commonly expressed in those movements.
The game is getting Steam Workshop modding support! Can't wait for 2-bit Meat, Quintinuple Dreeb, and The Scungili Man to make an appearance in part 2.

Abnormal arms has the biggest junji ito vibes to me. It's like the story about the girl whose stalker crawled in the pipes of her house and died there, and kept groaning and shit.
Wait, i felt like i have read this storyline before. Definitely not a Junji Ito's work but it's eeriely similar
I think the stalker in that story i mentioned did die in pipe, but often the stalked victim would feel uncomfortable around the kitchen sink. It's almost as if someone was watching her through the sink hole. The said stalker is also blackmailing the victim lady with her 'suggestive' pictures captured by him.

The fact that Vinny looked around a bit more at the end and then asked for more about the game meant he definitely enjoyed it.
I'm super looking forward to him playing more runs of this on occasion. It's my favorite horror game of this year and I'm excited to see more updates for it as well.
It'd be really nice if the game started to pick up steam due to Vinny playing it too. It's honestly a great game, might be more incentive for the devs to give a bit more insight into updates to fans.

Yeah once you get past the initial hurdle of its complexity and sheer info overload (not necessarily, but it is a lot to look at)
It looks really good honestly. Makes me think about Organ Trail, that's another game that's a little 'rogue-ish' like this, and it has pretty damn good replay value.
Finally, Vinny is playing World of Horror! I really hope this isn't a one-off.

@@subrosian2323 its hard to find the optimal balance of knowing enough to know to be unnerved/frightened, and not knowing too much to make sure you still have the lovecraftian mystery. Its a hard balance few people can manage.

this happened to me not just the other day, and it was a surreal experience.
I like how Vin always plays roguelites at YAM hour, and the one that requires constant reading he plays after one of his longest streaming sessions. Glad he enjoyed it tho, this was fun.

@@SamuraiCaveman The legend is that it appears while you're doing your business and offers you toilet paper with deadly consequences. It's pretty absurd if you're not fighting it like in the game.

Fun Fact since it’s spooky month: In the 90’s, there was a series of games called Madou Monogatari, a RPG series about a young magician whose name is Arle. The games contained disturbing elements such as when Schezo(a dark magician, bad with words and described as a pervert) is decapitated(only in the PC-9801 version), but he is still able to fight due to his magic, or when Arle’s kindergarten classmates’ faces melt.
Most of the characters would then go on to continue their stories and adventures in Puyo Puyo, a spin-off series that is still around today. Other characters have stories or traits that could be perceived as disturbing or creepy by some, like Rulue being in love with Dark Prince(Satan in Japan), and Dark Prince being in love with Arle, or how in 20th Anniversary, Lemres goes into a dangerous withdrawal without sweets, and how Feli uses his withdrawal to her advantage, where she talks about doing anything she pleases with him, like going on a date, but it soon seems she wants much worse as she then attempts to force Lemres to eat a cake filled with salt, which would’ve likely made his withdrawal much worse. The games mainly remained in Japan and most still do, but there are a few games released worldwide and localized.

Yup, only the PC-98 games were like that though AFAIK - except for the melting kids, they stay the same in most ports for some reason. The other ports were generally much tamer and are fan-translated (probably because PC-98 is not well-known in the West).

The interface in this game seems a bit frustratingly confusing/unclear sometimes, but the game seems so cool and I really like it!

When Vinny was first buying items, and he got the compass on his first roll, I was sitting here chanting "buy the compass, buy the compass", and then he bought the goddamn camera! Just so everyone is aware, the compass is a really good item, especially the earlier you can get it; it gives you extra exp every time you explore, and you explore a lot in this game, allowing you to level up faster

It reminds me of those Cthulhu themed board games where you are racing against time and insanity to defeat an old god (can't remember any of the names of those games...). Kinda has a little Hand of Fate too, with the set up phase
The visuals are excellently stylish and striking, though it does seem to add a learning curve to using the menus

So basically this is the Junji Ito version of Dark Seed plus Darkest Dungeon.
I honestly think this is a lot better than Dark Seed, because Dark Seed's entire gameplay is to memorize and carry out an exact route after trial and errorring the game over and over, a lot of the puzzles are just nonsense.
I like coming back to this playlist every year around now, during Spooky Season™ and doing a few runs in the game myself. It's the perfect mood for Halloween.

Honestly watched the first twelve or so minutes and that was enough to get me interested enough to buy the game. Can confirm that it is really cool and worth the purchase if you like 80s Japan stuff, Lovecraft, Junji Ito, retro gwafix, and roguelikes.
I played this on game pass before it was finished. Really love the games aesthetic. Games hard though.

The peephole mechanic is so reminiscent of Silent Hill 4, people say its bad but imho its one of the best in the series. Hopefully Vinny gets back into Silent Hill sometime in the future.

Now that I think about it, it's kind of ironic that as he's getting less Reason as chat is leading him away from the more reasonable stat option.
Geez, Vin went on a stabbing spree in the second half. Judgement Cut' any fool who got in his way (except the ghost, who was too spooky). I guess going unga bunga can suffice when all you have to do to save Earth is beat up some nerds and break a telescope.
Also, it wasn't clear because of how this run went, but the second dude in a mask is supposed to be the omnipresent big bad, and sometimes-final boss. He's weird, and I expect the final game will have a bit more to say on him.
Brute force has had a lot of great successes over the years.
I love these aesthetics a lot, they're a cool example of a sort of minimalism, a limited resolution, with a limited number of shades, using dithering smartly for added shading.

There are SO many people I've seen play this game that seem to be completely blind. "Where's the enemy HP?" IT'S RIGHT THERE. I swear hover-overs explain most of what's going on really easily. I think people are just used to games with a dozen hotkeys or something.
it's well-organized, there's just a lot and some of it is spread out a little weirdly. i think the DOOM meter should be in the side bar, not the top, but that's one of my few complaints
