This game ended up being way more immersive than I thought. I like all the references to Japan urban legends and pop culture with the feeling of "Oh hey I know that one," it was fun seeing the first part before bed too.
My favorite part is that the guy who made this (a Polish dentist) used MS Paint as his graphics editor to replicate the '80's Macintosh graphics.
What an absolute KING.

Its hard to be scared of this game when the music slaps so hard.
I knew nothing of this game's existence until Vinny played it and now I am extremely interested enough to buy it.
Many in the gaming industry cannot grasp this concept.
imagine if that moron from stadia had his way. Roughly 80% of game purchases over this year for me were streamer recommends, and the other were sequels I'd already been looking forward to after seeing someone stream or let's play the first. No joke.
@@Romanticoutlaw This is exactly what I mean, streamers literally help games that can't afford the advertising that big companies can. Like I'll know for sure when a new AAA title is coming out without streamer assist, but for games like these? Unless I'm in the right social circles, at the right times, rip.
I rarely ever buy a game now without SOMEONE recommending it to me, or me watching someone play the first 30 minutes or so. There have been so many flops or hyped games that never became what they promised, I need to know I get what I'm buying.
I saw 5 minutes of vin streaming this and immediately purchased the game. Sometimes a game looks so fascinating you will literally put the stream down and go buy it to play yourself. So I don't wanna hear a thing about streamers lowering sales, if a game is good people will buy it
Vinny is 100% the reason I bought Hades. It had sounded like a neat concept, but seeing it played is what really made me want to buy it.

Is it a long game??? I was thinking of picking it up, but if I watch Vinny play through the whole thing won’t it ruin the experience? Or are encounters and events RNG?
@@ChickenFriedVice it's a roguelite, so how long the game is depends on how long you take to complete a run
If you're inexperienced it might take a few tries, but it's perfectly possible to finish a run in a single sitting
Exactly the lack of "Part 1" in the last video worried me.
Having a holes develop all along your body throughout the investigation and hiding your hole-ridden face with a demon mask… cool imagery.
Very fitting for this kind of story, stopping the call of the old god right in time before you perish from the curse.

I do give people a heads up when they’re considering playing this game that there’s eye trauma, body horror, and mentions of suicide, as those are common things that make people uncomfortable.

@@digiquo8143 I mean, I know some really generally un-squeamish horror fans who have very specific “triggers” that make them feel so nauseous and shaky that they can’t function or finish a piece of media that contains them, because it reminds them of a traumatic event in their own life. I’m not forcing them to go through that.

I've been playing this game for a while now, and with about fifty hours or so on it seeing Vinny play it and all these "bought the game because of the stream" comments makes me really happy. I really want more people to enjoy this game.
Personally I have it on my wishlist and am waiting for the finished release, but Vinny sold Part-Time UFO to me the other day.

I thought that was the whole idea of the monster. Still mad that Vinny didn't stand an fight(wonder what clapping would have done to it), but I guess the doom he would have accrued would have killed the run.

@@enriquejoseantequerasanche6180 Combat rituals are for ghosts, not eldritch enemies. In order to kill Oetaru, you'd need a gun, but that still just gives Ending B. Ending A requires you to sacrifice an ally to Oetaru (And Kana is flagged as important and cannot be sacrificed)
Curiosity got the better of me and I checked the wiki: Vinny did well by running, you can only defeat Oetaru by doing contextual stuff(no way to kill it by direct fighting, the devs fixed killing it a few patches ago) that the wiki didn't explain and I don't want to know, but pretty sure he couldn't do it.
It's pretty amazing how Vinny ended up struggling more with the easier difficulty... though ending up with two unwinnable puzzle fights in a row probably didn't help.
having seen all the content in the game before this update, there are definitely some cases that aren't impacted by difficulty much. Maybe they could implement some weighting system to affect the likelihood of situations like that?

@@Romanticoutlaw Well he also has prioritize new content turned on, which probably does impact what mysteries the game serves him on easier difficulties.
This game is getting interesting. It shows the japanese folklore and horror tales and mentions the manga writer with such genre, like junji ito even.
And i do wonder if the acid can is Vinesauce-brand Hand Sanitizer.

I'd choose the spider god more often since I rarely run from combat, but the spider bite frequency makes it a steeper cost than I'd like versus paying doom to cast spells or faster combat outcomes, both of which have potential upsides built in. Goizo's the only one I won't choose over spider, including the unlockable god, since I tend to rest frequently

This game is so fun (and spooky)! Man is it brutal, though, even on sceptic you can die pretty quickly if you get shitty luck. Can’t wait to see how it grows as it moves towards its full release.

The only way I've found to complete a run in this game, is if you know exactly what each story requires you to do, so you can plan ahead and figure them all out in an order that works. Only random encounters and the Old God events make it "hard".

AFAIK Something Truly Evil can appear regardless of difficulty, Vinny just got a full dose of Let’s Player's Luck and managed to avoid rolling all of the event flags in random events before clearing the run.
I've unfortunately had experience with puncturing an eyeball. It's actually pretty damn impressive how well those things heal. Admittedly, I didn't have eels living in mine, but Kana will probably be fine.

I think “sceptic” is a typo, but I don’t think the dev’s first language is English (and the rest of the dialogue in the game is as good, if not better than some games written initially in English), so I’m willing to forgive it.
There's also a "recieve" instead of "receive" at one point there, also a mistake that we ESL speakers tend to make a lot. But it really doesn't matter, given how good the writing is otherwise.

Edit: after buying the game and playing myself, i have learned that you can give one point to either your stats or to your stamina/reason.
You can only choose a stat up OR stamina/reason gain. Not both.
