This is exactly why this fight and his fight against Wyald somewhat mean more to me than when he obtains the Berserker Armor against Grunbeld. We see Guts, still a man, technically the same man that fought Zodd once and lost heavily, now here keeping up with Zodd and matching him as an equal. Him, the Black Swordsman, a human, matching the demonic, superhuman Beast Swordsman. Guts is the personification of badassery

I typically love the sound effect used for the clashing swords, that's pure metal in my ears 😂 I'm glad they didn't use the classic sound effect used in movies for swords battle !

I like how people gripe about the clanging noises despite the fact that Guts is literally just swinging around a giant piece of iron, and the manga itself acknowledges that
I believe the clanging would only make sense if the inside of Gut's sword were _really_ hollow, which I really doubt it is :/

Despite CGI I always get hyped watching this. It’s the only animation we get for such a good fight
Finally someone who understands. Like just knowing this epic scene got animated is enough for me, and it's pretty solid at showing just how inhuman and insane the duel between Guts and Zodd is.

Agree . . . . This fight is good
My first instinct is that it’s the brand. Casca was practically broken; but she was already losing her sanity and hope just before Guts returned (holding back tears when one of the officers finally talked her into relaxing and eating a soup). Guts had time away from all that to focus on his mind and improving his prowess. This was probably the most peaceful time of his life as even in the peak of the golden era, he was still constantly going with the Band into a battle somewhere, or running a violent errand for Griffith. Then Guts is presumably faster shortly after arming himself with something that outweighs him by almost twice over - if not more - than how he was with a 40 lb sword which he was already used to. Then we have Zodd - who is likely the most formidable non-Godhand member in the series. Grunbeld is perhaps stronger; but Guts defeated him in their first encounter. Skull Knight is far more powerful than any apostle (he can survive a direct fight with the Godhand whereas Guts is like nothing in comparison against Femto); but he’s a heroic character so it doesn’t matter. Guts was able to take on Zodd in equal footing despite being more weighed down and not as strong (Zodd’s weapon is far lighter, and his clothing is probably 20 lbs at the heaviest while Guts is probably wearing up to 200 lbs of gear and clothing/armor - without even counting the Dragonslayer).
Honestly the choreography isn't bad in this fight. Sure, you have to dig through nauseous shaky-cam, wooden CG, and CLANG to see it, but it's there.

Apparently Godo used all of Midland’s pots and pans to make the Dragonslayer, or atleast that’s what the studio that made this disgrace of an adaptation had in mind.
Hopefully they bring back berserk but do it justice this time.🙄

Now it looks tolerable with the increased framerate. Reminds me of Guilty Gear Xrd or Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Berserk 2016 and 2017 was awful, there is no way around it, but I gotta say it had it´s redeeming features.
I think that the sound they made for the dragon salyer sword is quite good, I don't think it should sound at every opportunity, like when guts grabs the sword, but when the sword cuts through anything or clashes against another sword is fine.
Every time I hear that sound it really makes me think that the sword is gigantic.
If they took two years to work on each season everything would’ve been better
