C21 Update: Time runs short for Senate, Minister Mendicino?

- C-21 remains before the senate, where it's being debated before the second vote is held, which will (all almost all likelihood) send it to the Senate's Standing Committee on National Security, Defence, and Veteran's Affairs; otherwise known as SECD.
Thing is, scant days remain in the Senate's calendar before they rise on the 30th of June for the summer recess. Can the Liberals get it through in the remaining time? What happens if they prorogue to duck questioning about Chinese interference?
And how do the recent calls for Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino to resign (due to... well, a litany of reasons but most recently his ignorance/lying around the Paul Bernardo prison transfer) likely to influence all these events? And of course, what does it mean for the reconstitution of the Canadian Firearms Advisory Committee - charged with producing a list of firearms recommended to be prohibited, if a new Minister is parachuted in between sessions?

The scary thing is that people are not waking up to the NDP.
Oh I dropped my affiliation the day they voted with Drama teacher mussolini to invoke the Emergency measures act against peaceful protesters. I was mad about the coalition, but that made me sick. Unregistered from the party that day. I'll be voting for Poilievre next federal election. Trudeau is a fascist, and the NDP prop him up so long as he throws them some scraps. So neither of them are deserving of my vote.

Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Legal Rights: Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search and seizure.
We saw how the Charter worked in Ottawa during the trucker protest. Charter means nothing. They want the guns, they'll take them. The police don't follow rules of procedure. As well, A PAL is a preauthorized search warrant. Most PAL holders just don't realize that.
Our government proved with the invocation of the Emergencies Act (not to mention covid mandates) that it doesn't care about the Charter. It's nothing more than words on paper to them.
self defense rights need to be added to that charter

Prorogment did not kill C-21 the first time so don't count on these technical "flaws" to get rid of it.
100%. That's sorta why I tried to couch by comment around prorogation with lots of "who knows," because while I can read up on everything available about it, I gotta admit I am far from an expert. I mean hell, I'm reticent to say proroguing kills C21 because I don't trust this gov not to OIC basically the same thing into law!

Well, we heard back from our contacts today, and got confirmation that C21 is unlikely to reach the SECD committee before the summer break - which tracks with the prognostication in the video. But I totally appreciate your frustration with clickbait and sponsored content in news (which is why we don't do either of those).
