Also it seems like the guys behind this have a track record for shady businesses. You can look this up. There's a couple videos investigating this.
Established Titles is a scam. Some RUclipsrs have even done extensive videos over it. Scott Shafer did the first big video this year, Legal Eagle did another.
For those who haven't done so, PLEASE read the manga. It's 2,000 pages spread over 6 volumes. Believe me, you'll enjoy it. It'll also fill in all the details that aren't in the movie.

I would recommend reading the manga after watching this. It will give you more information, more characters and a badass lady. There are other plots and everything will somewhat make sense. The plot also gets darker and more complicated.

This movie was so much better then I thought it would be. 10/10 would reccomend
The animation is top notch and the plot is extraordinary but it falls flat in establishing characters. The only 3 dimensional character is Tetsuo. Kaneda is your typical anime protagonist. The supporting characters are also one dimensional. The story also doesn't explain anything. It also doesn't give you the satisfactory answer to why Kaneda cares so much about Tetsuo. But, I will agree it is a visual masterpiece.
@@Justaregularslime I already have. It's actually far better than the movie. The movie was created before finishing the manga, which I believe was a mistake. It easily could have been a 2 part and flesh out the characters a bit more.

This is the stuff we used to get in old anime. Compare this to every new anime artstyle ever. And then watch some other old anime from the 80s and 90s. Isn’t the protagonist called Kaneda and not Akira?
Yes. Technically, both Kaneda and Tetsuo are both the protagonist to this story. However, Tetsuo becoming hungry for more powerful psychic abilities is what turned him into an antagonist by the end of the film. That and we never really "see" Akira. We just hear about his uncontrollable psychic abilities through past tense. This video doesn't really dive deep into the backstory of the psychic children. In a flashback, we are shown that the children were experimental research test subjects on the limits of the human brain and psychic powers that the government hoped to use as a weapon. After the incident with Akira, the project was shut down.
