I think the iPod and the base iPad have various industries that use them regularly, and they have a reason to be consistent products. I work with kids, and iPods are still great for certain activities, not even mentioning iPads, which every kid has and uses significantly. Having a cheap product, with long term security support that IT doesn't have to worry much about, a simple home button and headphone jack even the youngest of kids can understand, and a smooth no hassle interface makes a lot of sense to use with kids. Some parents find the iPod to be a great gateway phone for kids. They get the technical experience to operate phones, they're cheap, they're the perfect size for tiny hands. I imagine lots of kids who get this will probably stick with iPhones as they get older, just out of familiarity. Similarly with iPads, especially now that they're getting more computer like and can be used for mostly everything you need. I imagine Apple will be keeping these around for a while longer. I think too many people and industries would complain if they suddenly couldn't rely on Apple for these cheap products.
I've been using mp3 players basically since they came out decades ago. I'm surprised you didn't notice when buying yours but they do have a 256GB model available. The main reasoning for me choosing the I-pod touch was the combination of available capacity and an external speaker in an mp3 player type of product. I can carry the majority of my audiobook collection with me separate from my phone and not worry about battery life for either device. I'd love to buy another generation if they'd increase capacity to 1TB.
Still have my 4th gen ipod from way back in 2004, still works despite the numerous drops over the years & i still use it, it's sturdy & reliable. I also had a green touch ipod first gen but it wasn't constructed as good as the first & went to the great tech heaven in the cloud.
I've got this one that was gave to me it was run over by a car and did not break and been through the washer a few times and yet its still going strong.
I recently picked up a 32 GB Gen 6 IPod Touch for less than 20 bucks. I love it! Even though my IPhone SE2 is comparatively small, the Touch makes it seem huge! It is incredibly easy to carry around, and using it saves wear and tear on my much more expensive phone. I still use my IPod Touch 4 in the car, because if I leave it on the seat no one is going to break into my car just to get it. In fact, just having it there seems to send out the message “Bro, this guy obviously has NOTHING worth stealing!” It is amazing tho just how much utility is left in those old, unsupported units. They are still great for listening to music and for watching the movies I buy off of ITunes. (BTW, the Ipod Touch 4 still runs the Web version of RUclips. That’s insane!) The 6 can run most of the apps on the App Store. The 7 can run them all. Will I get a IPod Touch 7? Definitely! Just not until I can get one for less than $50.
I love the idea of an ipod touch. I used mine especially to listen to music. If you are out and about and like sitting outside of a concert venue queuing all day, you don't want to drain your phone battery. Having an iPod touch, you would be able to go through the day without draining the battery of my phone. ☺️ Even the thought on the daily, Being able to go through the day and listen to music and such, an iPod touch weighs a lot less than a battery bank and the thought that an iPod Touch would help prevent you running out of battery for an entire day.
Good to see the ipod get some love. I used an ipod as a phone as a teen and I still love using them in my car with my music library. I'd love to see an updated version for enthusiasts.
I still have one with the click wheel. Bought it at Walmart maybe 6 years ago and still works. Audio was great on those old iPods dedicated to music only.
I have an iPod touch. Originally I used it because all my music was on iTunes and I didn’t know how to work it on an android phone, but now I’ve gotten used to having it even after getting spotify.
My car has a USB port, so I keep a 128gb stick plugged into that for music on the road, but I also modded my old 30gb 5th gen iPod with a big SD card for kicks. Still works great. The main reason I hardly ever use it is my profound hatred of iTunes.
I'd love to see the last one be like the classic, in regards to space. I really wish mine didn't go too the wasteside. I use one everyday in my vehicle as well. I personally like to keep my music and cellphone separate. I'm sure they'll be a day I can't as technology keeps moving forward. 👊
It's cool that you're keeping dedicated music players alive, MJR! I was a fan of the iPod Touch in high school. Used it as a music and internet browser before I owned a smartphone. These days, I just stream all my music off my phone from Spotify out of convenience, but keep around an old Samsung Galaxy S10 loaded with an SD card full of my personal MP3 collection for situations like airplane flights like you described.
I found a 30 or 80gb gen 2 classic and used it in my car daily, if you go into areas without service often you can utilize the rear USB port on many aftermarket headunits and just tape it under the dash as a fallback instead of carrying CDs.
My car doesn’t have a CD player. So I use Sirius XM or stream on my iPod Touch 7th generation. So I don’t have to use my iPhone. I love this little device. I have a lot of iPods. But, this is my first iPod Touch.
My first and only Apple device was the 4th gen Ipod Touch and I loved it to bits, great for kids to use! It was such a great device back then when phones were still clunky and had limited functions but now its hard to justify an ipod. The only reason to get one tbh is for the built in high quality headphone jack and the wired ear buds but then I get angry because they dont include that in their phones.. dongles dont provide the quality of a built in jack from their previous devices and its even worse on android phones so it irks me to see that they can do it but they willingly neglect things.. good to see the ipod but it feels like its forced exclusivity to earn more by this point.
Definitely had no idea they were still making iPods! Gotta agree with you, the product red looks fantastic and it's for a good cause. I also didn't know you could play mobile games on them. Might have to get one, especially if it is indeed the last model they end up making. Thanks for the vid!
I have one in product Red too. Works great. To be honest. It’s just a cute toy for me. I didn’t need it but I wanted it. It running 15.1.1 I think. Or the latest software and it runs very smooth considering it has a A10 fusion chip in it.

I still use my classic iPod from like 15 years ago. Still works perfect, no issues. I never use the touch, the classic is so much better. I can control it by pushing the buttons through my shorts. Don't even need to take it out of the pocket
I have a Ipod touch, I left in in my grandmas couch cushion when she sold the couch. The people who she sold the couch to called her and brought it to us about five years later we got it back and powered it on It said it was disabled for 67 years/ 26 million minutes 😥😪

I been using an iPod touch heavy since finding it in a lost n found at work one time in 2016. Bought a charger and started selling on ebay with it and made like 18k in 2yrs and listen to the music in it all day everyday. The battery is impressive still too...only a DSlite battery outlasts it

Ahhh memories of 2004, sharing an earphone with a friend in class, listening to Dream Theater and Metallica on the ol' click wheel iPod. Nowadays I wouldn't touch an iPod though, instead I'm rocking an iBasso DX300 - more expensive, but well worth it for audiophiles
I still use my iPod touch for music. I wish they would come out with a new version with a current generation processor in it and I would get another one just for games.
I Literally just ordered one something about the Simplicity of it plus it reminds me of the earlier 2000s fashion may not have been the best but this right here was one of the biggest things
I'm in the group that is surprised Apple is still making these, especially when smart phones are mini computers that are capable of doing so many things.
This is the same mini computer, just without the phone part. Lots of people would be happy with just the computer part for as little as $200 new without having to deal with the whole "phone plan" part of owning a smart phone.
Music streamer, gamepad, camera, camcorder, smart remote for TV and smart home devices, pocket computer for looking up info or doing homework… yeah, iPods are great, and the A10x processor still puts many android processors to shame. I bought an android-based DAP last year, and it still has hitches and doesn’t run as smoothly as my first iPod Touch from like 2009. These days, you could connect an iPod to a display and get a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and never need a home computer or laptop at all.
Nothing is more annoying than listening to music with a speaker then all of a sudden the music stops and your phone is ringing. Especially when its a group of people listening like at work. Having a dedicated iPod is so much better. Music noobs just don't get it
@@ArmadilloAl That's why they will never stop selling these. They fill a niche that is easy for them to supply. It's all the same parts they are already making, it really isnt that much more effort to keep cranking these out.
I’m still using my iPod touch since 2013 (I forgot which gen is it hah). Used to still buy music from iTunes but I’m currently using Spotify. I still prefer to have a separate music player instead of using my phone together. So I hope Apple will keep on releasing iPod touch! Or perhaps they’ll still continue making em
That's dedicated! I dug up my old iRiver after one of your other mp3/iPod videos. I love that it's basically just for listening to music on. It almost gives that similar feeling of putting on a vinyl record, just music and no other disractions. :)
He’s actually very right with the parents choosing an iPod for their kids cuz my very first smartphone was actually a 4th generation iPod touch when I was around 4 or 5 years old :D i had soo many weird games on it and it was the very first device that taught me about an app called ‘RUclips’. I binged watched every single mickey mouse episodes I could find on the platform (even the 20th century mickey mouse episodes) Can anyone relate?
This is funny since I was just looking at them last week and have been contemplating buying one for about a month! I wish they would just update it and make a big deal about it. They would still sell well enough... probably better than the Home Pod.
They were updated in 2019… the A10x is still a beefy processor. The iPod Touch 6th Gen supports the current version of PUBG, and Metal Jesus got the 7th generation.
I had the last ipod touch to have the 15 pin connector. Even not using the official apps I can pull up and start my music, even while running another app. In several ways it's still better than my current stuff. Sure not as powerful, no longer supported by any apps that have had updates, but most of my apps that aren't just skinner boxes (and the blockheads, losing that on Android is rough) were made to be downloaded once and run perfectly forever.
I put SD memory in my Ipod video for the car. It used the best DAC (a Wolfson) of any Ipod. It's got 128Gb and a clear case now and new battery. The Ipod videos have a big refurb scene so finding cheap good parts is easy. I use an Ipod touch with bluetooth headset when I am in the bath.
I bought the iPod Shuffle back in 2005. It was an amazing technological evolution for me as it was the first time I could listen to music on the go that way!
Back in 08 when I first saw the ipod touch I was amazed like how u would see a xbox series x or ps5. I was so jealous of people who had it and didn't get one till I got a summer job and spent a weeks pay on a second gen ipod touch. Good times 😁👍
As an unabashed collector of dedicated music players - iPods in particular - I’m gonna be quite sad when the day comes that Apple no longer makes them.
The iPod touch has ALWAYS just been an iphone without the phone. I remember when I bought the very first iPod touch, I also bought a case that had a battery and a sim card in it to effectively turn your touch into an iphone.
@@lolitkanovel6415 you thought that was a lot? Mate you could go uo to 10 thousand songs. And with flash modding, some people can go up to 50 thousand songs, albeit with a little bit of weirdness happening since the RAM is overloaded, and the fact that you absolutely cannot shuffle 50,000 songs on the 7th gen otherwise it'll just crash.
I would be absolutely thrilled to see Apple make a dedicated music player in the same vein as the iPod classic that competed with lossless music players we see on the market today.
I'm really considering getting one, so I can go to the gym without my phone, not worry about running out of storage on my phone as well(since I like to download the entire catalog of the bands I listen too) and etc etc. Your video came in handy! Can you talk a bit about the battery life? I don't really plan to do anything with it besides listening to music, btw. Thanks in advance!
What a waste of money. If you have an iphone or any smart phone, especially now with storages big enough, storing music isnt that huge in terms of files anyways
@@jponz85 the thing is: I don't WANT to bring my phone and I use FLAC archives, which takes up more storage than other kinds of files. Even tho my phone has a nice storage, I have to keep an eye on it so it doesn't fills up, and forces me to keep a rotation on the records I got downloaded.
@@y-hola it's a really nice idea, but it my case I like wired headphones/in-ear phones, which I combine with external DACs and amplifiers(got some portables too). But I'm really interested in testing out the Ipods DAC as well, I've read that it's better than the one in the iPhone.
I grabbed one a 256gb one of these in 2020 and am still using my 120gb classic from 2007 or 08, as I feared the jack was going.. There's nothing better (IMO) as a dedicated music player, at least not for a relatively reasonable price.
Yeah, there are a bunch of great Chinese HiFi music players, and indeed they broke the $1k barrier awhile ago, but not many can claim up to 40 hours of battery life, support for HiRes lossless streaming for $10/month, and a processor that can scroll through huge music libraries so fast and smoothly, letting you see the album art. I don’t have a nice pocket-sized iPod, I have an iPad Pro from 2016, and this year I picked it up from my nightstand to see that the screen had cracked overnight somehow… but it still works so good connected with USB to my HiFi setup ($500 PS Audio sprout to my $300 speakers) or I can take it to my home office reference setup ($1400 Sennheiser HD 800 and $2400 Sennheiser HDV 820). Definitely audiophile-worthy.
@@evshrug I'd rather have a Sony Walkman NW-A105 for $329 . Up to 45 hour battery life . Upgradeable memory up to 2TB . Compatible with all the big streaming apps including Apple Music . Can easily handle huge music libraries with cover art . Onboard USB Type-C .
Wait, they still make these? I still have my older one and it still works like a champ (also I’d love a new 90s PC game episode, i just played Decent for the first time and i love it, kind of a take on DOOM but your flying a little gun turret at the same time)
I still use my old iPod touch everyday. I have all my music on it and I use it when doing any outside work. I don’t like to use my phone when cutting grass for instance. I like it better for working out also. I think I may upgrade to this new one because mine is really slow and it doesn’t get updated anymore.
Apple doesn't sell ipods anymore.. which is sad for me because my first ever 'smart' device was an ipod touch so I love them. They give me bad memories and good ones like the memory of me breaking my last ipod I ever had within like 2 days of getting it.
Nice change of pace. I miss having my iPod touch. Good times. It's too bad that iOS stopped supporting so many of my classic games collection including Resident Evil 4. I bought the GTA trilogy bundle a month or two ago before the remakes were announced for modern consoles including Switch and I hear they may be shutting down those games because of the remakes so I'm afraid to update my iPhone. Hopefully if it ends up forcing an update I still have access to my Chrono Trigger and Castlevania Symphony of the Night games.

@Retro86 well constructed piece of kit which I suppose most would regard as retro by today's standards.
In fact, just having it there seems to send out the message “Bro, this guy obviously has NOTHING worth stealing!”
It is amazing tho just how much utility is left in those old, unsupported units. They are still great for listening to music and for watching the movies I buy off of ITunes. (BTW, the Ipod Touch 4 still runs the Web version of RUclips. That’s insane!)
The 6 can run most of the apps on the App Store. The 7 can run them all.
Will I get a IPod Touch 7? Definitely!
Just not until I can get one for less than $50.
That's a hell of a deal
i hope you managed to get it in time, because they discontinued it
I love the idea of an ipod touch.
Mine is about 15 years old, works like new. I use it daily
I love iPods. I still have a blue iPod touch 5th generation that I bought years ago. Works great. Very useful if you have almost thousand of songs. ☺️
I know hey. I still mine too and it’s still in pristine condition.
I understand your logic. I have a 128gb phone in my car that I use for streaming my downloaded music from Spotify and for navigation. It works great!
I have an iPod touch. Originally I used it because all my music was on iTunes and I didn’t know how to work it on an android phone, but now I’ve gotten used to having it even after getting spotify.
I got that one a few years ago for Christmas. I've always liked to have a dedicated music device instead of using my phone.
same i had one but now i want to get one jist for my music
My car has a USB port, so I keep a 128gb stick plugged into that for music on the road, but I also modded my old 30gb 5th gen iPod with a big SD card for kicks. Still works great. The main reason I hardly ever use it is my profound hatred of iTunes.
the ipod touch with the reflective back was my childhood!
It was great... I think it still had cover flow before Apple stopped doing that
My favourite iPod had the simple circular pad. I remember when the first coloured version came out. I still preferred the old one
Good thinking
I found a 30 or 80gb gen 2 classic and used it in my car daily, if you go into areas without service often you can utilize the rear USB port on many aftermarket headunits and just tape it under the dash as a fallback instead of carrying CDs.
My car doesn’t have a CD player. So I use Sirius XM or stream on my iPod Touch 7th generation. So I don’t have to use my iPhone. I love this little device. I have a lot of iPods. But, this is my first iPod Touch.
I remember my iPod touch, and my IPod nano, that was the elite era and I miss those old times
I still have my ipod touch 5 gen (with the loop) to this day. I got this ipod from my parents 10 years ago and it was nostalgic.
Ordered the same one last week, with custom engraving. I love that it's 256GB these days and has a HEADPHONE JACK! :)
Enjoy, man!
\m/
With the amount of memory Music takes up, this is still great!
Aw I remember my older cousins had an iPod touch each and I desperately wanted one when I was 12 so I could play mobile games like minion rush and jetpack joyride :,)
I was surprised to see they released it around 2019 and I decided to get one recently to serve my ios needs since I use Android
I still use my classic iPod from like 15 years ago. Still works perfect, no issues. I never use the touch, the classic is so much better. I can control it by pushing the buttons through my shorts. Don't even need to take it out of the pocket
I'm so happy to see this kind of video! iPod rocks!! 🤘
The Gen1 iPod had a legit 2.5" HDD spin disk in it. RIP soldier you served me well.
I should probably buy one of these before they go away
I'm shocked they still are making IPods, might have to get one myself for nostalgia. Good video like always!
I have a Ipod touch, I left in in my grandmas couch cushion when she sold the couch. The people who she sold the couch to called her and brought it to us about five years later we got it back and powered it on It said it was disabled for 67 years/ 26 million minutes 😥😪
Rip 💀
As an Android person I find these useful just in case there's like an app only on iphone or something
Yes!
I still have this iPod, I got it as a birthday present, and it’s in all black, front and back. Amazing piece of technology. Now I only use it for music and games
I remember reallly wanting an iPod touch in middle school 2011 when those were popular
I like those boxes. Apple used them for the iPhone 5c and I always loved the aesthetic of it (it's like...a glass coffin).
I use AirPods Pros myself.
They should bring it back it was a nice asthetic
@@LucrativecrisProbably generates too much plastic to align with Apple's current values.
I purchased a blue one begining of 2021. I love it. It does so much. Keeps me in the Apple ecosystem. I do prefer Android phones. I have a MacBook Pro and FCP. Air Drop to the IPOD to social media is so efficient. Still prefer Androids phones and I never owned an Iphone. My music library is over 90 gb. Thanks for the video. The unit is adorable.
Android doesn't do well for me...
I’m still rocking my product red gen 5! Only basic apps work so I just use it for podcasts 💪
I was so happy to have iPod touches in elementary & middle school cause ofc I didn't have a phone. I made the best of it & its amazing for kids! Now I'm 19 paying for my own iPhone 13
My first apple device was an ipod touch 2g from my cousin, first game a purchased was fragger.. life moves fast
I been using an iPod touch heavy since finding it in a lost n found at work one time in 2016. Bought a charger and started selling on ebay with it and made like 18k in 2yrs and listen to the music in it all day everyday. The battery is impressive still too...only a DSlite battery outlasts it
Put it back in the lost and found.
@@spiddyman0079 the hotel has policy of keeping things for 3mths and by then, each months lost n found goes in a bin and because there is so much, the employees get to grab whatever is in there. But thanks for being extraneous and like 6yrs after to try telling me what to do 😂
@@infinidominion anytime man.
Dam you just took me back to high school
I didn’t know anybody else besides Fiio was putting out high-end dedicated players.
@@CantankerousDave Sony does as well
Dream theater was my life in high school!!! Listening to wither on the way back from school
I still use my iPod touch for music. I wish they would come out with a new version with a current generation processor in it and I would get another one just for games.
The A10x processor in the one MJR got here is still a beast. You can still play Apple Arcade or PUBG on a 6th or 7th Gen iPod, no problem.
@@evshrug it's just a base A10 processor but it definitely still has some oomph to it!
He’s got the Sonic Boom game on his phone 😂
I Literally just ordered one something about the Simplicity of it plus it reminds me of the earlier 2000s fashion may not have been the best but this right here was one of the biggest things
I'm in the group that is surprised Apple is still making these, especially when smart phones are mini computers that are capable of doing so many things.
This is the same mini computer, just without the phone part. Lots of people would be happy with just the computer part for as little as $200 new without having to deal with the whole "phone plan" part of owning a smart phone.
I use one when I’m working outside. I’d rather break a $200 iPod than a $1000 phone
I do like how Apple is pushing Lossless music now for pretty much everything (iPods, iPhones, HomePod speakers, earbuds)
@@MetalJesusRocks Yea, I heard they did! That's awesome!
I really regret not buying the 7th gen when it came out
I use an iPod touch 6th gen all the time, it's nice to have a device with a headphone jack
"my first smartphone was at 4 years old" no... I can't relate
This is funny since I was just looking at them last week and have been contemplating buying one for about a month! I wish they would just update it and make a big deal about it. They would still sell well enough... probably better than the Home Pod.
Same with me! Haha
Still use my ipod nano gen 1.
Hope to never see apple abandon the ipod. Hope to see a new ipod nano someday.
I remember wanting this thing so badly, the red colour with the white front especially
MJR! You like the Sounds! I love that band. Soooo underrated.
Oh yeah. I was obsessed with their "Crossing the Rubicon" album when that came out in 2009
RIP iPod Touch. 2001-2022
I see you are jamming out to Jerry Cantrell's new album! I love it
Heck yeah! Really good too 🎸
I put SD memory in my Ipod video for the car.
I was in highschool in 08 when I first saw the iPod touch. I was mind blowned 🤯
As an unabashed collector of dedicated music players - iPods in particular - I’m gonna be quite sad when the day comes that Apple no longer makes them.
But they dont even have sd slots
The iPod touch has ALWAYS just been an iphone without the phone. I remember when I bought the very first iPod touch, I also bought a case that had a battery and a sim card in it to effectively turn your touch into an iphone.
Omg smart!!!
A case with a battery? Wow, what?..
Got my dad one for Christmas he loved it it fairly easy for him to use!
Bought the iPod 7 gen 3 years ago and still works and for the first time I have an iPad, the 10 gen and loving it being my first iPad.
Thanks Apple for all the fish. I'm still using my current iPod which is a 6th gen Classic, it's LOADED with like 5600 songs and like 20 videos.
5600, wow!!!
@@resolvanlemmy GEEZ. Of course I don't have such collection, and my music tastes... I am not such a audiophile, ahaha
@@lolitkanovel6415 you'll be one one day.
I would be absolutely thrilled to see Apple make a dedicated music player in the same vein as the iPod classic that competed with lossless music players we see on the market today.
New iOS 15 allows for lossless audio quality so if this has that then your wish has already come true
@@SentinelSeptim I want one with physical controls instead of touch screen
At first I thought that the iPod was pretty useless, and after watching the video I am even more sure about it.
as legend has it he is still trying to release that ipod from the box.
I had no idea they were still making iPods. I still have my Nano and I remember it being the best thing ever.
Thanks in advance!
if your only using music at all times it actually lasts a long time. apple says it should last 30-40 hours with only music playback and nothing else
What a waste of money. If you have an iphone or any smart phone, especially now with storages big enough, storing music isnt that huge in terms of files anyways
Consider getting an Apple Watch with cellular function. Subscribe to apple music and you can enjoy music in gym!

That silver iPod was the one that EVERYONE was rocking with when I was in elementary school, my mom wouldn't let me get one though 🥲
Hopefully if it ends up forcing an update I still have access to my Chrono Trigger and Castlevania Symphony of the Night games.
you should ipa save it
