As a fan of gt series since the first game, being a wheelchair user and only able to use controllers I’ve adopted to getting very competitive time in the game.but seeing the difference and it being more immersive game play,it bothers me that it’s controller only for me.but I’m 50 now so I’ll blame my times on older eyes lol.

For the immersion the wheel is definitely worth it, but the same way you're used to using a controller, Ermin is used to a wheel. Take these times with a grain of salt, the controller is competitively viable in Gran Turismo.

Even on Logitech g29 difference is like between driving an RC toy car and an actual car. The fact that wheel uses both hands and feet makes it a completely different, more immersive experience.

Excellent comparison, as a GT DD owner you absolutely nailed it. For riding, skating or flying, leaning with sticks makes sense, but driving has always been about wheels and pedals. The fun of using hand, eye and feet co-ordination even on console to get quicker. Now with 4k and dd, it's on another level of detail.

This isn't the question you should ask at all
    1. Are you a casual racer or an active sim enthusiast?
    2. How often do you, or are able to race and practice?
    3. How much space do you have
    4. Finances?
If you are someone that wants to sim race but you don't have much time, save the time, hassle and expense, because using a wheel is like starting from scratch if you want too be fast, if you race only a few hours a week, stick to controller, especially with how much you feel on the PS5 controller.
Space, it is so important. I got a Thrustmaster, racing seat and frame years ago when PCars 1 was new, and the space it took up was huge! Even using a wheel clamped to a desk and pedals, you still need to be able too fix it in place, and have room.
Finances...... Now when i got the Thrustmaster wheel, T3PA Pedals and seat/frame... it was upward of £600.
Things are a lot more expensive.
IF you have the cash, IF you have the time, IF you have the space and IF you race hours and hours a week, then yeah... a wheel is immersive, fun and carries with it a level of realism, if not.... Stick too the controller because as much fun as a wheel is, it is also a ball ache.

I spent the first ~40hrs of my GT7 play time on the Dual Sense controller before making the shift to the Fanatec CSL DD (now with about 30~40 hrs of use) and have generally liked the move to a wheel and pedal setup after playing racing games on controllers for the better part of the last 20 yrs. If I were to compare my times between a controller and the wheel/pedal combo I feel that they are fairly similar still, but I prefer the controller for the dirt/rally stages given the wonky GT physics engine. The only complaint I have so far is that in game menu navigation on the PS5 with the CSL DD Wheel is very slow so I keep a controller to hand for that.

When I first got a wheel, I tried it out on the Crew 2, which obviously is a very easy to play arcade racer. I really noticed the difference once I tried f1 2020 with tc off like I usually run on controller. Took a lot of getting used to but with gt7 im definitely a LOT faster and smoother, but as soon as any mistakes are made on gt7 on wheel, thats it, race over. Spinning out is so hard to avoid and drifting overall feels very difficult on wheel. However on controller, adjusting to errors and the tail happy nature of the game is a lot easier imo. Drifting is a lot easier too I feel. I hit a full on 360 drift entry clip after a few tries using an rx7 drift setup on controller. Would've been impossible for me to do on wheel. But overall, wheel is a blast!

Exactly my experience. I bought my first wheel for gt7 (a g29). I could get within a second of my old times pretty much straight away but one thing that has never got easier is catching slides with the wheel. I did lap after lap of different tracks with both methods and although I could have similar times on wheel, I could push harder, easier on controller, knowing that if the back end steps out I would catch it easily. Whenever the back end steps out on wheel, 9 out of 10 times it's over.

This video really needed a control sample on the controller, considering you usually drive on a wheel. Starting on the controller and then going to the wheel was always gonna lend itself to faster times on the wheel. I'm a Gran Turismo 'Alien', and always used controller out of convenience, and it's completely fine. GT7 has some quirks, but in GTS the controller was generally competitive in outright laptime compared to the wheel. The main downside to controllers is exaggerated tire wear in cars with medium to low downforce. In GT7 there does seem to be a sizeable performance gap in very specific contexts - the R92CP License at Le Mans comes to mind, where the wheel is about 2 seconds faster. But in most situations the controller is competitively viable, albeit less immersive and fun. Certainly, if the only goal is to be faster, buying a wheel is not worth it.

The biggest thing for me is proper racing. When you are on the racing line bumper to bumper ...the controller is awful. in 25 minute plus races ... like 45 minute sport mode races, the controller is tedious . I'm not familiar with this channel but it really depends what you've been playing more on. To me, it looks like you've played a lot more on the wheel and that makes your times faster with muscle memory.
That being said, there is something to the "finesse" possible of the wheel and pedals. And on the other hand, there is also something to the ease and comfort of the controller turning by just moving a stick rather than your whole arms.
Muscle memory serves the more frequently played input choice. But spending $1500 for a few 10ths is a ridiculous concept anyway. Get the wheel for the fun and realism, not the speed, cause you'll lose to the opposite peripheral plenty of times regardless of what you're playing on

  • @NorthDevilll
    @NorthDevilll Год назад +1

The title is quite misleading. GT7 official wheels have an extra "shaking" feedback and the title made me think that this feature will be reviewed. Because otherwise official and non official wheels doesn't differ in any way.
