    Glad to hear there is finally a budget processor option. It is very difficult for people to make that transition if they don't have $6000 - $10k to buy a processor and amplification. I am currently Adding amps to my AVR and then later replace it with a processor.
    I would be very interested to see a side by side comparison with the Anthem and a Tomewinner kit with this processor and their budget amps. I am thinking they should be in the same general price range and so the comparison would be interesting for a "budget separates vs mid range AVR"

    Looking forward to the more in depth review. One assumes you can select 7.1.6 or 9.1.4. Being budget does it handle the subs like a splitter or is there true independent control? One feature my Marantz SR6012 has that gets overlooked in all reviews is DSD handling. My unit can process the signal from a SACD player over HDMI or via dsf/dff files via USB. Does this or the Anthem handle that as well?

The AT-300 paired with the AD7300PA amp is like a match made in heaven. My 5.2.4 Atmos setup never sounded this good before. I was actually at awe! Fantastic!! I can't believe that ToneWinner built a processor like that!! Wickid!, My first thought is the AT 300 with two Tonewinner AD 7300, or two AD 5180 amps .. or a combo of both, for under $5000???? That's a killer setup!! I have 2 TW AD 5180's and they are awesome! There isn't anything out there that can come close to this Tonewinner gear for the price. I am very impressed! So, a person can get into separates, with big power amps, 13 ch, balanced outputs, ect. ALL for the price of a Marantz pre pro???? JEEEZ!!! The only thing that I noticed is the OSD isn't as "polished" as other A/V equipment is, almost primitive. But it is a tool, and really, it just needs to do the correct things. At that price point, its still a "no brainer"!! It looks great, can easily blend into any system and not call attention to its self. I like it!! I am really looking forward to more on this unit, well done my friend!!!!

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  3 года назад +1

      Hey man, thanks watching. You just might see a package price with some amps in the future ;). Yeah, I agree the OSD is very plain and dated, but it is there and very easy to use. I feel that a lot of audio companies really don't put a whole lot of effort into their OSD's these days. But the more simple they are the better they operate too, so maybe that is why. When I get back home if you want to come check this processor out, feel free.

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  2 года назад +1

      Well, if you have the money to spare and a noticeable, but not monumental step up in sound quality matters to you, then you would be better served with a more expensive unit. The higher priced processors do offer a little more clarity and channel separation, but the At300 did really well in this category as well.

  • @thelittle
    @thelittle 2 года назад

    I know a $1199 is considered "super budget" on this segment, but I still hope someday even more budget preamps become available. What I mean is to provide the same preamp embbeded on $600 AVR in a separate box for something like 300 or so. This could solve some problems like having a working old AVR with perfect amps, but no things such atmos, bluetooth or 4k so you have to replace the entire unit to get the hot stuff. Also I seen lots of AVR bricked because of failing HDMI inputs.

    If be interested to see how the eARC works. HDR10+ support? I saw there is a multichannel in, can it do a full ADC for room correction? What type of room correction- in house? How exact is the adjustability of speakers (ft/in, crossover hz, db)? Can it decode legacy formats from say a DVD-ES/EX? Upmixing formats? Can you turn HDMI out off? Subwoofers in parallel or independent?

    • @RalphMoon
      @RalphMoon 3 года назад +1

      Yes Hdr10+ works and you get very useful parametric eq, 11 for fronts and 7 for remaining channels. Does the job. Dtsx pro upmixer works only with dts source but at least it fills all 13 channels and sounds much better than the dtsx neural x before we had pro. Dolby upmixer only 11 channels, native atmos 13 channels. Subs parallel but independent volume that's all. Crossover fancy 5hz steps and also slope 12 or 24db. We are still working on the firmware with the engineer, making progress but funtionalty is not on par with marantz denon yet. Unit sounds great and has potential. Hang tight 😊

    • @dan_hitchman007
      @dan_hitchman007 2 года назад

      The AT-300 may actually sound better overall to a Marantz as it doesn't have the poorly measured op-amp section of a Marantz model. Some equate the ToneWinner sound favorably to a Denon. You are going to get superior channel separation with a quality power amp, but you are also going to gain greater power and dynamic headroom over any receiver. The very best infinite separation is when you use one monoblock amp per speaker, though that can get pricey.

      This company needs to step it up though because of certain AV receivers you can turn off the preamps and this company doesn't have all the new video codecs so yeah it doesn't even have 4K 120 don't get me wrong I'm a fanboy of processors preamplifiers but yeah and who knows how good their room EQ is I find it weird no one ever talks about that on all these pre amp processors

    Been looking for something even cheaper (7.2.2?). Something like an Anthem mrx 720 with no amps. No need for phono, XLR's or wifi either. Used Anthem 520/570/710's are rare and stupid expensive. I think I'd rather a used Yamaha CXA 5100 than this unit at this price.

      I had the Denon 4700, then the 7706 which was definitely a step up in sound than the Denon. I then ordered an XMC-2 and after comparing them all for a month, the XMC-2 took the cake. The sound after running dirac is incredible and sounds like a real cinema.

    Wow I'm impressed nothing on the market offers all this for the price. I will say they should have included 2 XLR for subs or just do 3 rca. I don't get the 3 sub connection most go with 2 or 4 subs 3 sounds weird to me maybe I'll understand that in a later video. As far as room correction I'm very curious to see what they use since the mic looks high quality like Anthem I hope they didn't cut corners as it's the most important features on pre pro. I'm very excited to see the final version this is by far the most aggressive price for a 13 ch pre pro with pretty much all the mainstream features. The look of it makes me think of Integra products. Tonewinner are on a great path since last year and they will sell like hot cakes at this price. I hope they hit the market without any issues because the first impression can make or break newish companies.
    Aamir most be happy I've been seeing so many tone winner amps all over forums and groups with overall great comments.
    Do you know if the pricing is only limited time for launch or this is to be expected moving forward?

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  3 года назад +2

      Yeah I found the 3 subwoofer thing a little odd as well, but then I saw that Emotiva XMC-2 and Monolith HTP-1 have 3 subwoofer outputs. I guess Tonewinner may have just wanted to "keep up with the Jones's". I do like what Tonewinner and Summit Hifi are doing, they really want to provide great products to the budget conscious. I am looking forward to playing with the Room calibration when I get home. There is an update I need to install first, glad to see they offer updates quickly so far.
