Fractional depreciation needs to be considered though.
You may have bought into the most reliable jet, so all the sudden your equity is in the unit that is having the piss flown out of it.
Even at that, 100 hours bought in a jet that is split 8 ways will still will be flown more and depreciate faster.
Also, stability in the 135 space as a whole is very, very much in question.
See Jet It, Wheels Up, NetJets issues, etc.

Don't worry about that. 10, 15 years ago lobbyists greased the needed politicians.
They made is so private plane ownership became mucho more affordable.
And the industry sky rocketed as a result.
Private ownership, and corporate ownership of jets went thru the roof.

I laugh at these people who sit here and talk all I need a plane for a hundred hours Call Delta or American Air And by you a first class ticket. In my book there is very few people that are wealthy enough in this world to own their own jet, now there's a lot of people that think they're wealthy enough to own their own jet but if you have to lease the jet out to pay for it then you can't afford it It's just like rental property or a car that you can't afford. At private airfiled you still have to go thru a security check when going airside but as for a customs check it will depend if border force are doing a spot check or not.

I so get fractional ownership now. Long story, kind of sad but funny in hindsight, and for some reason I feel the need to share. Bored I guess. So... my last commercial flight was to Hawaii. I splurged and bought us first class front row. I thought we were going to be comfortable, a bit insulated, and a bonus being close to the Lavatory, meaning we could imbibe a few. So, while seated and the plane was still boarding, a sick passenger ducked right into the front lavatory, and then she began vomiting big time. Yes, we all heard her through the entire boarding process. Eventually, the FA is knocking on the Lav door, Pass comes out looking like hell not even warmed over, and she goes to the back to find her seat. Why they closed the plane's doors I still don't understand, as we all hear her start to heave from somewhere behind us. HUUUNHGAH! Heck, I can still hear it. We all felt sorry for her, but when they escorted her from her seat, she was still vomiting in her bag all the way through the plane and out the door. Never thought so much could come out of such a petite young woman, or so loudly. The FA's were LIVID she even boarded. We ALL were livid they let her go back to her seat in the first place. We were delayed considerably as they had to clean and disinfect the lavatory, thank goodness she didn't leave a trail on the aisle. So, never used the Lav, I held it all the way to Hawaii, hardly drank anything on the flight... I could still smell the lingering stench of vomit from the Lav. Wish I could afford fractional!

For some dumb reason most humans fall for this and don't see it.
Pay more attention in the future and see what you think.
Maybe not the answer you wanted or thought you'd get but I honestly believe this is the case.
People are already confusing what is real and what is not...add in Ai capabilities and it really will be difficult to de cipher what is real. What a great way to control a global population hey.

    • @davidbergerson
      @davidbergerson 10 месяцев назад

Actually, at 150 hours it still is pretty much not worth it. You need to be real close to 400 hours a year to justify a plane. Most people are not aware of all the costs of owning a private plane. You have fixed costs which is the plane, the hangar, and oh by the way, you need to hire pilots, you may need a steward as well. And, you will need to keep those guys trained. Why? Because the next thing that you will have is the cost of insurance. Then there is some other minor costs, but those are your biggies. Those occur if you fly zero or 400 hours.
Then you get into variable costs. Those are your fuel costs, landing costs, and if your plane is staying where you landed, hangar space, and of course cleaning. The toilet paper doesn't just show up by elves.
Then you get into the costs for the plane. You can buy a maintenance plan on the engines that are per hour. This will cover the time that the engines need to be worked on. Or you can just write a huge check. Then, there is a schedule that the frame needs to be looked at.
Then, of course, you need a piggy bank for the unscheduled things that can happen. You can have parts freeze. You can have a bird hit that does damage. It goes on and on.
So the reason why people use the 400 hour mark is because you can take all these fixed costs and spread them out over the hours. It seems to be the magical number where it starts to make sense. That is financial sense. There is of course the qualitative aspect that for some has an incredible value. Imagine being able to pick up the phone, call the pilot and say, "I need to be wheels up to ____ in 4 hours." Imagine the peace of mind knowing that the plane has had all the required maintenance schedules and service bulletins taken care of. Imagine the peace of mind of knowing that the pilot(s) that you have are fresh, and didn't just get off a 8 hour flight. Imagine the peace of mind of knowing that the pilots are trained on that specific model of plane and do it yearly. All of those have some value to people.

The big thing for the super wealthy that use these planes is the time saving aspect of it - don’t have to go through all the TSA etc. you can drive right up to the plane and hop right on. So it can save tons of time flying private

It’s definitely a different world. My uncle had an aircraft but I was the only one in the family that knew. He claimed it was a charter. I’m in the cockpit with the pilot on a vacation and ask how long he had the plane and he tells me it’s not his, it’s my uncles. My uncle bought it with 2 business partners.
When my grandmother went home on hospice care, when it was determined she didn’t have long, everyone was called. My aunt and cousin flew in immediately. I went to the airport to pick them up and on my way out a cousin’s fiancée wanted to get out of the house and ride with me… I couldn’t just say “you’re not allowed” lol. So she asked where we were going because the airport was the other way… Oh, umm different airport… Pull up to the gate and tell them what aircraft I’m there for. She notices I know the model of plane. Pull out onto the tarmac and see them taxing over to the FBO and she’s asking me what’s going on. Most people have never experienced things like this haha. So I pull in behind the wing as the FBO workers block the wheels and as the door comes down Bill, (the pilot) sees me and goes, “Hey Alan!” 🤦‍♂️ didn’t think about that and didn’t know how to talk my way out of it… She then overhears us speaking about refueling and flying back to pickup my uncle and bringing him a few hours later when he closes the office. She looks at me and says, “wait, you’ve been on that aircraft before!” 😅
Needless to say it would have been 1-2 days before they had been able to book and come on a commercial flight due to only 1 flight a day to our location on top of the hour drive to the large commercial airport and another 30 minutes for bags vs 15 minutes to the private airport and FBO. No TSA, no lines, just drive up, leave the key in your car and the FBO staff will park it for you and you’re in the air 10-15 minutes after stepping on board. Not to mention flying directly where you want to go whenever you want, not where the airline takes you on their schedule.
