Workplace anxiety is usually due to your boss not being supportive, if they aren’t helping you feel supported or appreciated, find a new job.

This is exactly my situation in my newish job… my boss doesn’t seem to have my back & is always questioning me, feel our relationship is very tense, awkward & cold which causes me to be super anxious. :( I wish I could just start my own thing but it’s easier said than done.

This is my situation at my current job. Even if my supervisor is re-training me and trying to be helpful, she is throwing shade at me, yelling at me and easily losing her temper with me, being hypercritical, and micromanaging me. I want to quit and I also want to report her bad behavior. The job we work is already stressful enough with rude and demanding patients. Why make it more stressful for employees?😒

One thing that John didn’t address is if the workplace environment itself is toxic - and your anxiety and dread is based on impending drama and abuse you go through daily at work. What then? This isn’t exactly the best time to change jobs if your income is stable.

This. We have lost 30% of our employees 12/40 in the last year because I believe the culture is now toxic. We use to never have turnover. Then there was a shift to grow and a hyper-focus on time and budgets and now people are jumping ship. Nothing is ever good enough unless you're perfect. People don't want to live this way.

@@Firerose101 Omg I thought something was just wrong with me. Yes exactly this I don't want to live this way I'm so tired of it. Idk what to do though I'm 38 and it's gotten worse over the years. I'm afraid to work and I feel like I am in a foreign country because everyone else seems fake to me and I feel like an alien. Their were only some I felt I could trust the others I did not. But maybe it's just in my head but then I would hear the harassment and just see so many red flags that it scarred me off. The manager was very passive aggressive and I'm sorry you don't act that way when you have all new employees the fact she acted that way was pathetic it's like look lady I do not know you I just met you day off how rude. It would be like me going up to you on the street and telling you off I don't know you. It was just scary to me the way they treat their employees like slaves especially in the service industry. I'm really sad to because I really loved my job. I tell management to do something about the toxic work culture but they never listen to me they are like robots.

All of my anxiety has ALWAYS been about work. When I was in school it was school. It's basically extreme social anxiety when it comes to performance of any kind. If I could just sell my jewelry and not have to work for people anymore I'd be happy but it's unfortunately not realistic and I feel like crap.

Omg I am the same it feels so comforting to know others feel the same to. My ex says that I need medication and thinks I'm Bipolar 1 but I know it's just being around people that scare me and who are rude I can't take that kind of environment and it's sad because I really do like bussing and dishwashing but my last manager was awful and the owners did not care that she was yelling at us. I also felt as if the owner was narcissistic because he did talk about himself a lot. He said to me I'll give you $20 if you guess my favorite song and honestly I didn't want to guess his favorite song when I had just met him day off. Idk maybe it's in my head but people like this creep me out a lot. Also where is the professionalism? That has gone out the window to it's weird. I'm not as bad I'm pretty open but I will only admit stuff to people if I feel that I can trust them but I usually try to be private.

For the impulsive marriage: I got married at19, my husband was 24. 14 years later we are stronger than ever but please know it was a very challenging first 10 years of learning to compromise and really accept each other as we are. Take it slow, if it’s meant to happen it will in time. If you jump in quickly, be prepared for a lot of struggles before finding the true joy of marriage and having a partner for life. Best wishes!

I don't mind working but it's really constant and you have to rest up for most of the day off. I make it a habit to get plenty of sleep. The thing I hate is varied lunch schedules that throw off digestion. Other than that I am doing pretty well. Now about "other" things, this RONA allows you to have to tell people a special rule, ie wear masks and they may not want to. That can cause more stress than needed. So how do we help customers feel safe, cared for, understood while practicing social distancing rules?

Is this something I should be reaching out to HR about?

How about we stop trying to work around the elephant in the room and admit that capitalism and working 50/60 hours a week (especially with computer jobs in my case) is SOUL CRUSHING, anxiety inducing and most workers aren't paid enough for their efforts. This "be a wage slave or starve" society we live under is SICK, manipulative and overbearing. My job has my mental health so deteriorated that I spend my free time either raging or crying. I deal with so many people in the run of a work week that I find myself depleted and avoiding the people important to me because I'm too agitated and talked out. We're all expected to be perfect little worker bee's when our employers don't account for mental illness, upbringing, social status or the last 2 years for everyone on the planet. Corporate level people don't care about us. They treat us like batteries. Use us until we're burnt out then throw us away.. ISN'T CAPITALISM GREAT?

Agreed, as an IT person and behind a pc all day I have come to hate it very badly, I cant leave it due to the salary...and doing a different kind of work is out also as all employers think you want to keep doing the same thing forever. Its the golden handcuffs scenario and it is soul crushing.....I hate my life and am full of anxiety, depression and fear. I have never wanted to retire until the last year when it finally dawned on me that this is a winless battle....I regret the career decisions made when I was younger.....wish I would have known how things would have turned out 25 years later.

Agreed, although I think we should be specific: what is really stressful about is actually the lack of physical engagement. If you were farming for 12 hours a day getting out in the sun and seeing directly the fruits of your labor it would be way less stressful.

It's about time I listen to this. Every time someone like a manager is passive aggressive toward me (just had it happen) I end up feeling like such a child and it sounds like my father is reprimanding me. Now I don't want to work at all and feel like an alien...I'm always quitting a job. Plus I have Auditory Processing Disorder and no one understands that disorder so it's tough. And like @keepyouheadup9183 says that the work place is toxic in itself and it's abusive and I can't be around that I will shut down then go home and won't be able to sleep.
