    Use your hate for your job to motivate you to find a new job or develop yourself so you are eligible for the types of jobs you want

    I really don't agree with the conclusion here. I don't think the answer to "I hate my job" is "Continue working your job, but don't think about how much you hate it." That sounds very counterintuitive.

    If you don’t enjoy something, you won’t stick with it.
    If you don’t stick with it, it won’t compound.
    Being interested precedes the results.

    I can relate... I work in the Records/Registration's Office at a local college and I feel the exact same way..... but the free tuition is not a option. I love our students but I'm ready to move on.... no growth, no raises, no appreciation, ....

    I can relate. I started at my company when I was 23. I’ve been there for almost 14 years now and I dread going in almost every day. Over the years I’ve slowly watched my company go from a thriving workplace with opportunity and many different faces to a cutthroat survival island that is a shadow of its former self. Many good people have either jumped ship or have been laid off. The culture here is very negative and depressing. The only positives right now are the benefits, vacation time and the pay which isn’t even that good by today’s standards. The stability hooked me in and I’ve become very complacent.
    How does a man in his mid thirties make a complete career change, especially if it requires more education? I can’t afford to make the wrong choices at this point in my life. My bills still need to get paid.

      Wow the fact that you have survived that long and even started at young age really amazed me. I cant even started my own since 25 and now lost at 33. Hardly even to stabilize and been jumping doing odd jobs. But I believe it is okay to make wrong choices. Maybe there are ways to get education that you want less expensive.

    There are many gurus who tell you that you shouldn't hate what you do. But does hating your job actually hurt your other planes in the physical, emotional and spiritual realm? As I told my own subscribers--yes it does. If you despise going to work that is eight hours of your day you are unhappy. Plus the getting up in the morning for it and getting back home is another two hours. Which would mean most of your day, most days of the week, most of your life--you hate doing what you do. This will affect the emotional plane and lead to the midlife crisis earlier than expected. It will drain your energy and then guess what? You stop taking care of your physical plane as well. Then your spiritual plane will fail as you see yourself as just another insignificant cog in the universe. So if that life in the high suburbs is destroying your planes my suggestion is to either laterally change careers or downsize so you can at least be content in what you do---most of your time. Hope this helps someone out there---Charles

    Sometimes it is good to re-frame your thinking about your job. What is something interesting or new that you could do at your current job? Could you transfer to another department? Could you develop any new hobbies outside of work, to make your life more enjoyable?

      What if you just hate every job and all work?

    • @klnmn3722
      @klnmn3722 3 года назад +5

      My two cents: sometimes reframing doesn’t work because a bad job at a bad company is bad. A company could be set in their ways, small enough to not have departments (or do not allow such switching), and/or be such a drain on you that you’re a zombie out of working hours and unable to pursue hobbies, which don’t do anything for your job in itself anyway. People should be made to feel way more comfortable with quitting. Again, my opinion.

    • @deanalbertson7203
      @deanalbertson7203 3 года назад +4

      @@klnmn3722 In my opinion, it is pretty easy to find a problem, or something you don't like, at any job. People who quit their job at the first sign of a problem usually don't do very well in the long run. It is usually better to expect a certain number of problems on a monthly basis, and find effective ways of dealing with them. Problems are just a part of life, you can run from them or deal with them.

    • @klnmn3722
      @klnmn3722 3 года назад

      @@deanalbertson7203 I didn't say to quit "at the first sign of a problem". I actually presented at least 3 crucial problems that can absolutely all be present at same time and said some situations are best left behind.

    • @deanalbertson7203
      @deanalbertson7203 3 года назад +4

      @@klnmn3722 Well, in the case of this caller, her child's reduced tuition is apparently tied to her working there. So, her options would be to re-frame her situation, or quit. If she quit, then she would likely be on the hook for thousands of extra dollars in tuition, not to mention out of a job. So, if you think that is a good option, well, it is probably not. It would seem to make more sense to focus on something new and interesting about her current job, or to change her job within the college. Colleges are usually large enough to have some lateral or even upward movement, which might help her feel better about her job over the next 4 years. Again, it is often good to expect that one will need to deal with a few problems each month, so when the problems show up, you are ready to deal with them.

    Golden handcuffs..... I feel like I'm in the same position. I love what I do just not where I work. I'm scared to even go on an interview for fear of losing this job. I never thought I would be making or doing what I am doing and I guess the fear is in I don't think I would be taken seriously somewhere else. No degree and a GED I was hammered my whole life "need to go to college to be successful" which is untrue but I feel like my generation (millenial) was indoctrinated into thinking college equates to success.

    Honestly this whole scenario sounds very "first world problem." Like some people literally get assaulted and potentially die as part of their jobs. I am an introvert that hates office politics and government red tape as much as the next person, but I still have enough perspective to know I have to do my best with what I am given and/or create my own opportunities.
