I have every one of my friends driving it to share the joy and give them to chance to experience it as well. Kudos on your videos mare. They are great! Oh and the 2018 has keyless start stop button and as for sheer driving experience, I have own a 400 hp mr2 so I was just tired of trying to not be killed by my car and wanted a sporty yet driveable car. So RS3 was perfect for me and I bless life for having the chance to drive one every single day!
Great video, thanks for this comment 🫡, been dreaming of being able to afford the Rs3 since 2012. Almost ready and I truly just want it for the 5 Cylinder Sound, I plan on having an aftermarket exhaust fitted to bring the sound alive, it won't be "Soft"
@@zumbib3479 The RS3 is more practical, more comfortable on bumpy roads, and the DCT is better for town driving. But, who buys a £50,000+ hypercar because they are practical, comfortable, and easy around town ? BMW for me every time. Much better drivers car.

The RS3 is a very fast car,no doubt! The RS3 just doesn't look different enough from the S3 sibling whereas the M2 does stand out more so from the M240i.Ashley Oldfield's summary was spot on.
Only reason I would take the RS3 is because it has 4 doors. I would actually take the hatchback! But it I was looking at a weekend car, M2 all the way.
Not really a fan of luxury hatchbacks, because it makes you look like you're trying too hard to buy into the brand. The sedan body is very well in the game though, looks great and even the small RS3 can sometimes pull it off as an RS4 in the eyes of all but the very discerning ones.
I owned a DCT M2 and swapped after 12 months for a 2018 RS3 sedan both are phenomenal however they are very very different cars. They are very hard to split and I think the choice over which is “better” comes down to which is better for the owner. For me the RS3 is the car to commit to long term
I love the fact that Audi allows you to make use of their performance cars on everyday roads so you enjoy what you pay for whereas the problem with BMW M cars is that they are NOT for everyday because you need to know what you’re doing with a rear wheel driven performance car and on public roads if you don’t you more often than not total your expensive performance car..#facts
Hello from the UK, comments aside for the review, I have an M2 got it 20th December 2016 Xmas pressy to me and done 12,500 miles as my daily to date and it cuts it in all aspects, just changed the rubber on the rear from Michelin to Continental and made the car more comfortable and lost nothing in compliance, so hope that helps..
dude i daily my viper and my rubber is 355 Pirelli Pzero corsa and not a single person said the viper was a daily car but i say if u love your car enjoy it or someone else will, its dangerous only when YOU'RE driving dangerous,Yeah its not that comfortable, not fuel economical (its very noisy even when stock) but its a viper it should be, plus no matter how shit was work that day it always makes me smile when its time to go home and see it parked and ready
The M2 is just more of a sporty race car than the Audi. If you look at all old sports Audi they just don’t stand out. Take a look at all M BMW cars and they just look spectacular even through the ages

The RS3's exterior is simply an S3 and deserves a much better treatment to be part of the RS family. Interior of the RS3 wins hands down, but nothing will ever beat a manual and rear wheel drive for sheer 'driving pleasure'.
No it's not. To you M2 exterior is simply an M240i then, S3 is simply an A3 etc. Both the RS3 and M2 have had the same things done to them, same chassis as the A3/2 series but with a body-kit on top.
Let's not forget the all important automatic transmission. You know there's something wrong when the like of Lewis Hamilton want to see the return of manual transmission in Formula 1. RS3 drivers are probably begging for the day their car is autonomous.
Well the S3 comes in either Manual or S-tronic but if you did your research, you'd know that RS3 drivers are thankful its only in S-tronic. I got a 2017 S3 myself and having previously only driven manual cars, was looking to get a manual S3 but thankfully I did research before I got one. The clutch Audi put in them (and VW put in the Golf R) is too weak for the power and it starts slipping within the first 10-15k miles. People have to put a Sachs racing clutch in with their own money. Look at any Audi RS car, all of them are either S-tronic or Auto for a reason, they don't make manual gearboxes that can handle the power. I wish they did but they don't, the S3/TTS is the highest power car Audi make with a manual gearbox. No RS3 drivers aren't begging for the day their car is autonomous, they want a 4wd car with a good engine sound and a lot of power that can be put down in the real world, not just the 1% of the time when it's dry in the UK. Not everyone drives on the track.
Zombie Head, have you tried it? It's far from shockingly bad, I'd love to see you drive worse cars and see what you say about them. The best interior in its class, but that's shockingly bad? More tech than its rivals, but that's shockingly bad? Understeer only matters on the track, that's why I like reviews from people like Hamza who tell you how cars drive in real day-to-day conditions.
Sure it's your opinion, but opinions can be wrong. Those roads are what 99% of daily driving is like, its what I'd be using my car for 100% of the time. You really think 90% of 'other people' track their cars? It sounds like you only read the video titles and not watched the videos themselves. He's always changing his mind because it's always his first time driving a car. What is he very bias towards? Ok then you specifically need a car that's good on the track but the RS3 was never built as a track car. Try the RS3 LMS if you want that. Yes interior and exterior is a matter of opinion, but to say that everything other than the engine is shockingly bad is a false statement. Compared to the other German cars, they most likely are the kings of understeer, but to most people understeer will make no difference to their daily driving.
If I had the money...id get both cars. They very different cars. But they both do what they do with their different drivetrains better than any other car in their class. But if had to choose one it would be the M2. And just drive my Suzuki Ignis during the week.
I personally think that the RS3 is the perfect car for the road, especially in the UK. Aventadors, Bugattis are cool but where would you put that kind of power down? The RS3 is a sweet spot

My opinion. If you ask AUDI you can have electric seats not manual. And also If you want to check the sound when you are stopped, you should put N on your Gearbox and the DYNAMIC mode to get the real LOUD sound. The engine and the sound is incredible in the AUDI, better than M2. The AUDI RS3 with launch control 0-100km/h in 3.7 sec not 4.1 sec. So the RS3 is faster than M2. With a stage 1, only with repro, you can reach (480cv / 0-100 3.0sec / 600Nm of Torque /max speed 310 km/h) When Ashley appears, in the first minute you can see the problems of the rear wheel drive. I don´t like that when I put my car on its limits. Ciro talks about the KEY of the AUDI RS3, it looks old. But what about your impressions when you are inside the M2. It looks like a BMW of ten years old. The VIRTUAL COCKPIT inside the AUDI is much better.
Burton Reed Not in this case. The m2 is much more fun and this fact is well know amongst all professional and non pro drivers and people who like sporty driving in general. What's fun about Awd? Awd is safe yes but fun no. It's actually boring and horrible to drive. It kills the fun. I race cars almost everyday and i own an rs and a turbo bmw and guess which one i gave to my wife? The safe Awd audi...
Audi's are just too soft and safe when compared to M cars and Amg's. That is the reason I left Audi's and went to Amg. Audi's are perfect cars for what they are for, which are great practical cars for daily use. I owned an Audi s8 and other Audi's and it was just something missing from my s8 that I couldn't figure out at first, the power was there, the luxury was there but it was just too tamed and too predictable. It was just a fast sedan for commuting, every Audi I owned felt that way. Now I own a cls63 Amg and that raw power is on another level, now I know what I was missing, that driving feeling and excitment.
Marwan Hassoun I've owned and own Bmw's also, I never owned a M car though, currently own a 7 series, so its not comparable to a M car. I'm sure M cars are great driver's cars like they are made to be, but for some reason they never interest me. If I would to get a M car in the future, it would be a f10 m5, because I am more into powerful sedans than just all out sports cars.
I honestly don't get this thing about "keyless" or "push button" start. You need a security device. You needs somewhere to store it in the car while you are driving. You need a knob or button to start the engine. Why not just combine them?
But why are you guys reviewing the RS3 against the Manual M2 It does not make sense to me.. As a BMW fan I have to say the RS3 looks hella sick inside, BMW clearly do not give a rats ass on how inside or interior looks :( great review though :)
Nice review. Seems as though, if you have the time and or money, the M2 is the best car to buy. That is if you can take it to a track when you want, go blaze some nice roads on a weekend, checking in at an small country B&B. Most of us can't afford to do that! So for me it must be the Audi as a daily driver. Secondly, please in your future reviews, please quote the price not only in Rands, but $ and Euro's please. That gives us some idea what South Africans have to pay for their rides. Now please check this out! A new 2018 Audi S3, with the Gen 3, 2.0L turbo engine, with an APR stage 2 tune, makes almost equal HP and actually more torque, for much less money! I bet it will smoke both these cars in the 1/4 mile!
Buying a car is for driving, not for parking most of the year, knowing that the value of cars depreciate quite quickly as well. In short, Buy, drive and ENJOY.
RS3 it is! M2 has a way better styling and stance. I like the look but the engineering behind the RS3 is phenomenal I hate the RS3 wheels. But I love this car.
..hahaha, aerial shot at 0:14 & mr-oldfield gave away the road's location, so the road is not so secret anymore!.. now i know where my next drive will be at!...
RS3 All Day, every day, any day. The Wolfsburg Beast will not be tamed by that Bavarian machine, even though it is a monster. I guess in terms of class and caliber they're equal, but some beasts are just more equal than others.
There is no comparison. The m2 you need to teach your wife to drive and the rs3 is just the same as what she had before with a bit more guts. M2 all the way that's I bought one!
One cannot really compare these two, they are so different. The M2 was also a manual. The Audi's steering cannot be expected to be as good as a rear wheel drive, because they are driven. I would have the RS3 hatchback anyday over the M2.
decent review... sound was a little bad sometimes, but overall decent review. focused on the rs a little more than the m2 though. think you could have gone into a little more detail about both cars.
Observation i noticed about bmw fanboys on cars.co.za- M4 Dtm loses to Amg Gtr on track by 2.6sec: M4 is a 4 seater daily, Gtr only for the track -- BMW Fanboys. Rs3 loses to M2 by 0.2 Seconds on the same track: 0.2 sec is a HUGE difference on a short track, M2 is the better engineered car - same Bmw fanboys. totally ignores the fact RS3 is a family hatchback to be used in all weather and snow, for a family of 5 NOT meant to be used on the track BMW fanboy logic. (a genuine observation from someone who owns both a 08 S3 8p Fsi and a 02 S54 e46 M3. i love both of them)
An RS3 owner will not let anyone drive his car, so why bother with electrically adjustable seats, steering wheel and other unnecessary things that add weight to the car?
The Audi is a great car, but as a car person I most definitely love the drivers car known as the M2. And that is what most Audi fans don't get or understand is that as every review on a BMW shows, it's a drivers car. Love BMW
Armandt Vorster yes you are smarter then every Audi driver 😂😠 Fact is: If you are not on a racetrack which is 99,9% the RS3 is the faster and way better car... If you want some fun on the racetrack take a old M3 E46 instead of the M2
derHERRderVIERringe Hahaha I would rather have the BMW and never regret it every day than have a RS3 and regret it years later. Still not saying the Audi is bad, but for me, I will always prefer the drivers car.
Video is nice, but, could you guys also do a proper *review* of both these cars? You know, like show us under the hood, tells us which one has better lap times, which is a better value? What kinds of tires do they come with? Some more pros/cons between the two cars, do they both have practical rear seats? How quiet are the interiors? How do they feel in hard turns, and what about when the road is dry? Ah, you've already done it (mostly) here: ruclips.net/video/VCyh8eLDVaw/видео.html Nice!
not my favourite review. apart from the relatively bad mic sound in the car, the thing that annoyed me the most is that the guys got some things wrong. first of all be happy when you have manual seat adjustment, 95% of the time you will be the only driver and you have a lighter seat. sure you wont notice but cars get unnecessary heavy because of such stupid creature comforts everywhere just to make the car suited for everyone and give away sportiness and excitement in return. which brings me to the second point why the audi rs3 is such a loser of a car, its an RS, the most sporty audi has to offer and it still is just a stupid Golf with hang-on all wheel drive and good engine. they need another platform at vw for cars like this and refocus on whats important for driving excitement. but now it can only score with everyday suitability because they made it weak by creating it for everyone. bmw is still too heavy, but at least it has proper focus on driving pleasure and thank god no dual clutch.
If you are looking for a comfortable daily, then why pay all that money for the RS3? Even S3 would be fine. But if you want a fun sporty car to enjoy, a true drivers car, then there is only M2.
Ciro did a review, an M240i just a couple weeks ago. If you haven't seen it check it out. Now compare that quality to this.. I would fire someone! Use that as a benchmark... There is no néed to go overseas for that. If there is a crew member who was let go...who contributed to that very review.. I would recommend hiring him back.. Give him a bonus an let him or her do the job. This is unacceptable...
Apart from being an pro driver, The bmw can lose the races because its manual, The fuel efficiency, The use on stop start traffic, Long distance driving, Comfort etc Those are negatives of having a manual
Not a great review guys. If it weren’t raining I am sure you would got better shots. I will have BMW though as my daily car purely because it’s all round more entertaining.
I own a Golf R which is quicker around a track than the RS3 (see Evo track battle) and its a brilliant car to do everything in. Less shouty and boy racer than the RS3, especially in the estate version. The Audi seems to be driven by idiots who can't drive well just want to floor the throttle and let the car do all the work. I had an M2 as a company car and it is spectacular. Easily the best M car on sale at any price. It's not massively hard to drive, unlike the review makes out, but needs to be respected if you want to drive it fast - but that makes it all the more rewarding and special. My gran could drive the RS3 fast but the M2 is like an old school analog beast. Unfortunately reflects in price as they don't seem to lose money second hand so I can't afford one of those :(
Mm, I'm a massive audi fan. Always have been. But that really disappointed me when he said 920 000 and the seats are manual, and it has no start button. Come on audi. That's bloody sad.
If you own the road for the day, where is the race? I bet everyone who watched this, waited for the face-off. In the wet I am sure the RS would have taken it. In the dry I would have loved to see the result!!
Super01113 it's small, light Clutch, reasonably fuel efficient, parts and service is cheap.Just what the average person would want in a city car...Unless you can afford the premium of a Polo tsi or other premium city car brands.
Take a look at this video again and take note of the not so subtle flared wheel arches on the M2 and then consider your statement again. Those flares arent just for show, the M2 is significantly different to a regular 2 series coupe.

Talkditings dem if you try to move to m power you’d love thim
Marwan Hassoun I've owned and own Bmw's also, I never owned a M car though, currently own a 7 series, so its not comparable to a M car. I'm sure M cars are great driver's cars like they are made to be, but for some reason they never interest me. If I would to get a M car in the future, it would be a f10 m5, because I am more into powerful sedans than just all out sports cars.
I honestly don't get this thing about "keyless" or "push button" start. You need a security device. You needs somewhere to store it in the car while you are driving. You need a knob or button to start the engine. Why not just combine them?
I like cars to be thrill a minute, so it's M2 all the way. There's nothing more exiting than a car that's wants to kill you now and then!
RS3 ALL THE WAY....M2 driver's car...at winter time in the bavarian alps ileft them all behind😁....
Just a poor and lazy review
I’ve driven a few Rs3’s in the US and they all have push button starts. I’m surprised in your country they didn’t install it. That’s weird.
Buying a car is for driving, not for parking most of the year, knowing that the value of cars depreciate quite quickly as well. In short, Buy, drive and ENJOY.
The review wasn’t bad, but the sound was terrible. Really spoiled the video!
These two cars shouldnt be compared. M2 is outstanding perfect about best drivers car👑
nice, love the RS3.
Welcome back Ciro...
TT RS w/ manual and RWD option would be amazing
You couldn't afford 2 microphones ? One for the Audi, one for the BMW ?
Somebody please explain how push to start is an attractive feature.
Great video ... straight to the point... but it presuposes one should know a thing or two about those cars .. 😎
RS3 it is!
M2 has a way better styling and stance. I like the look but the engineering behind the RS3 is phenomenal I hate the RS3 wheels. But I love this car.
my 2017 RS3 has keyless start! dont know why its an optional extra when they give you virtual cockpit as standard 🤔
AKA PARKS I thought all a3, s3, rs3 were keyless start apart from the 1.8L a3
Thanks god u back ciro
BMW guy: “woah it’s nice to drive a turbo engine that revs to seven”..... lol is this your first time?
..hahaha, aerial shot at 0:14 & mr-oldfield gave away the road's location, so the road is not so secret anymore!.. now i know where my next drive will be at!...
Dozer Drives do you know what road this is?
..they'll kill me if i tell, bruh...
RS3 All Day, every day, any day. The Wolfsburg Beast will not be tamed by that Bavarian machine, even though it is a monster. I guess in terms of class and caliber they're equal, but some beasts are just more equal than others.
///M2-4ever 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
There is no comparison. The m2 you need to teach your wife to drive and the rs3 is just the same as what she had before with a bit more guts. M2 all the way that's I bought one!
@ollyoxenbourg lousy BMW fanboy!!
In 24-Hr Nurburgring race the RS3 will take the chequered flag because the easier car to drive.
Rs3 has been clocked from 0-60 at 3.9 not 4.1. I know it’s not a big deal but facts are facts.
IMO, BMW 2series is not the same segment as an Audi A3. It is: M2 vs TTRS and 1series vs A3. Simple as that.
Observation i noticed about bmw fanboys on cars.co.za-
M4 Dtm loses to Amg Gtr on track by 2.6sec: M4 is a 4 seater daily, Gtr only for the track -- BMW Fanboys.
Rs3 loses to M2 by 0.2 Seconds on the same track: 0.2 sec is a HUGE difference on a short track, M2 is the better engineered car - same Bmw fanboys. totally ignores the fact RS3 is a family hatchback to be used in all weather and snow, for a family of 5 NOT meant to be used on the track
BMW fanboy logic.
(a genuine observation from someone who owns both a 08 S3 8p Fsi and a 02 S54 e46 M3. i love both of them)
"... it has to be the M2." 'nough said
improve your sound quality
i like the cinematography, but it breaks of trying to be like topper. Find your own presenting style
Audi RS3 for sure 😍👍
In Australia you can get push button starts for the RS3...
guys when can i help make a review??
Shocking quality
An RS3 owner will not let anyone drive his car, so why bother with electrically adjustable seats, steering wheel and other unnecessary things that add weight to the car?
I love RS3
Reshoot with better sound?
The m2 driver seems a bit awkward , a new reviewer?
For every day driving on any roads in any condition RS3 for a weekend blast on a well known dry road M2 it's that simple!!!
It has a push button start dude.
The Audi is a great car, but as a car person I most definitely love the drivers car known as the M2. And that is what most Audi fans don't get or understand is that as every review on a BMW shows, it's a drivers car. Love BMW
Armandt Vorster yes you are smarter then every Audi driver 😂😠
Fact is: If you are not on a racetrack which is 99,9% the RS3 is the faster and way better car...
Armandt Vorster ok - i prefer the RS3 - but the M2 with the manual 6 speed is pretty cool aswell 🙄
ya love bmw and replacing rod bearings nonstop fuck bmw after my 2014 m5 i will never ever buy piece of shit bmw
Lol the rs3 isn’t a drivers car? The 4 door awd smooth powerband yet sick fast beauty isn’t a drivers car? If that’s true then idk what life is
Video is nice, but, could you guys also do a proper *review* of both these cars? You know, like show us under the hood, tells us which one has better lap times, which is a better value? What kinds of tires do they come with? Some more pros/cons between the two cars, do they both have practical rear seats? How quiet are the interiors? How do they feel in hard turns, and what about when the road is dry?
Ah, you've already done it (mostly) here: ruclips.net/video/VCyh8eLDVaw/видео.html
Nice!
They are both German cars. That’s enough for me. 🎉
I wish they did an M2 touring or fastback.
This video was great apart from the cringeworthy Top Gear style 'banter'. Guys what were you thinking?
not my favourite review. apart from the relatively bad mic sound in the car, the thing that annoyed me the most is that the guys got some things wrong. first of all be happy when you have manual seat adjustment, 95% of the time you will be the only driver and you have a lighter seat. sure you wont notice but cars get unnecessary heavy because of such stupid creature comforts everywhere just to make the car suited for everyone and give away sportiness and excitement in return. which brings me to the second point why the audi rs3 is such a loser of a car, its an RS, the most sporty audi has to offer and it still is just a stupid Golf with hang-on all wheel drive and good engine. they need another platform at vw for cars like this and refocus on whats important for driving excitement. but now it can only score with everyday suitability because they made it weak by creating it for everyone. bmw is still too heavy, but at least it has proper focus on driving pleasure and thank god no dual clutch.
If you are looking for a comfortable daily, then why pay all that money for the RS3? Even S3 would be fine.
But if you want a fun sporty car to enjoy, a true drivers car, then there is only M2.
Looks like he's at one of those lonely Nevada highways .
Where's the damn drag race, isn't that what we all came here for?
+LikeDa Boss Drag race just launched! ruclips.net/video/L87OsWqfNQo/видео.html
Cars.co.za Thank you sir, we asked and you listened. Drag race went as I thought it would, that Beemer is a beast for keeping up though.
How i wish u used the M-DCT M2 not the manual! And please we need a track race and a Drag please
drag race: rs3 wins. on track probably m2 wins
Why not the manual ?
+Khehla Shabangu For them to be competitive
Abulele Kufa equal footing ? Though I understand where your coming from as neither of as far as my knowledge goes are professional drivers
Just wanna know the colour name of this audi s3
Unfortunately reflects in price as they don't seem to lose money second hand so I can't afford one of those :(
This is the only review I’ve seen where you have to use a key. Pre production model?
Also the Pirelli tires that come with it are junk tires.
You are a Bmw guy or an Audi guy. Beemer sounds better... but Santa I'll apreciate an Audi for Christmas.
2018 APR stage 1 E85 outputs 404kw & 668nm, 0-100 2.8 sec, is there any confusion we need to have about the selections between them? LOL
Sorry i forget to mention that it is RS3 lol
Mm, I'm a massive audi fan. Always have been. But that really disappointed me when he said 920 000 and the seats are manual, and it has no start button. Come on audi. That's bloody sad.
Been waiting for this one 😊
the cla 45 amg should be added to this because it has similarities to both and is as fast
If you own the road for the day, where is the race? I bet everyone who watched this, waited for the face-off. In the wet I am sure the RS would have taken it. In the dry I would have loved to see the result!!
I guessed they summed it up .. The beamer is the driver's car !
BMW FANBOY
One bar for a glorified A3? That's ridiculous. I'll have an M2 and a Vivo for the daily commute
lucky Shindongo why a Vivo though?
Super01113 it's small, light Clutch, reasonably fuel efficient, parts and service is cheap.Just what the average person would want in a city car...Unless you can afford the premium of a Polo tsi or other premium city car brands.
Reon Storm fair enough though I think even an m2 could be a good daily driver depending on where you stay.
lucky Shindongo The m2 is just a glorified 2 series by your logic
Take a look at this video again and take note of the not so subtle flared wheel arches on the M2 and then consider your statement again. Those flares arent just for show, the M2 is significantly different to a regular 2 series coupe.
Where is Ciro?
