Vehicle quit driving down the road. Towed into the shop scanned for diagnostic trouble codes, P0300 Random Misfire and P0301 cylinder 1 misfire. Swapped coils but did nothing for it. Pulled the spark plug on cylinder 1 and found it oil fouled with ash build up. Used borescope on cylinder 1 found it is oil soaked from worn piston rings. Exhaust pipe has soot build up from burning oil. Compression test on cylinder 1 confirmed ZERO compression. Recommending a new engine replacement.

Would it be cheaper to open it up and replace the rings and such?
A new engine is around 3500 euro, a engine tear down and rebuild is around 2500 euro. So its better to buy a brand new engine in my opinion
