Between the IP rating, the straightforward and rugged suspension, mountain climbing torque and added safety margin when absolutely cooking on a trail, the V14 50s was a no brainer for me. Especially since I can break it down and fly on an airplane with it. Fording streams and climbing to the peak of mountains isn't something I thought I'd be doing when I bought my first One wheel Plus a handful of years ago. I've ripped the suspension out of two S18s, blown the bottom of a fork leg off a V11 and fragged a battery pack on my S22. The stock V14 is a mountain goat and has held up to the rocks, streams, roots and generally miserable conditions I've put it through. So far ... Glad to see a comprehensive review on the wheel. It isn't getting as much love as it should on the RUclipss. 🤙
Thank you for sharing your experience. The problem with majority of the reviews is people don’t give time to test them properly and if they found a problem they don’t try to address it on understand the origins of that issue. The v14 is not perfect but one of my favourite wheels of all times
And you are so much right about the feeling it absolutely casual as part of your body in full control. This is one of the reasons I sold my v14 to buy v11y. Because i never managed to get that easy feeling as i had on kingsong 18xl on the 40kg wheel, v14 is maybe really good for its purposes like jumping ramps or trailing the curly trails in the woods with some stones but it really lacks that fun factor of the lighter wheel and no metter how long you ride it you dont get the same feeling anyway.
@@MADpacki had a eridez pedal lowering kit, it makes side stability better because it makes it no so sensitive and reactive, but at the same time wheel becomes more dump, so this lowering kit can only be useful for very beginner to start riding a wheel, then better to change to standart height to be able to feel the full potential if the wheel. I also tried the street tyre, but unlike the default one it does not have the high protectors on it so it feels like a stone even on pretty low pressure) in the end I made a conclusion that the best way to use v14 as it is without any modifications and if you don't like it you just need another wheel. For example I would prefer it to be 18 inch for better stability on speed and riding bumps more smooth and at least 8 kilo less. In that way it would be close to a perfect wheel for me) and overall with my height 193 cm 14 inch feels a bit like a toy in size, while having a huge 40 kg weight)
Hello some questions 12:05 whats with the off road tire frying the motor? I need a visual showcase because I'm not sure what inmotion meant when they warned users about it, I just don't see how the kickstand is going to get stuck...? Is there no problem if I just remove it? Also at 13:15 I thought the top fill up was only on the v11? Because I've been riding my v11y for months and only filled the bottom, and it still runs fine, I just looked at my manual and it does not say nothing about the top other than that, do you think the v14 is worth the small upgrade? I really want something more powerful, but I can't decide if the lynx is worth the extra 1k on the battery range or not
First question it get stuck between the rubber of the tire. The top chamber is there also to fill it up. Never try the lynx but the v14 and lynx will be a very different wheel. And no is not a small upgrade is big but you lose things like I shared on this video
hello Madpack, I bought a v11y after watching your vid, I start getting tilt back at around 18mph... out of the box, I know I can turn off, just curious if yours was the same? thank you
hello Madpack, from the inmotion App I turned off the 'wheel clamp' which was set at 25kmh, then when I try to to change the top speed to 55kmh .... it just rolls back to 25kmh! ... btw I also try euc world (changed top speed to 31mph), but still getting tilt back & beep & live data still shows top speed 15.5 mph, any help appreciated
@@tedbundy-p5u Try changing it to Performance Mode or try changing any settings you can find to adjust speed control. You can try updating the firmware also if you havent yet, it may have an old firmware that doesnt work with newer app and so its not connecting properly
I ended up selling my V14 50S, the range just wasn't enough for how heavy and big it is. The most I was able to get out of if was 60KM with very gentle riding. The constant range anxiety wasn't worth it. Such a shame as it was a really fun wheel to ride (and it sounds amazing!). But yeah, range matters!
@ZultanUK is not so weird you have more V plus the wheel is heavier and also you are 95kg if another ride have imagine 75kg is normal to have more range and depends how you ride also so is not so linear :)
For my use, really ill stick with my v8f honestly lol but my dream upgrade is the 11y for sure. I don't need massive power or range it's just for recreation. One day, one day! Lol
I appreciate the cast pedals, the cheap pads, the low-amp charger and the lack of a seat because these items are necessary upgrades for experienced riders and the quality of aftermarket parts exceeds what is reasonable for the manufacturers to include given the weight and price constraints. All reviewers seem to complain about the poor quality of these upgradable accessories but I’m 100% on the side of lowering the cost of new wheels by skimping out on the replaceable features. Preferably, the manufacturers would offer these wheels without chargers, without trolley handle (yeah, Apex), without pedals, without seat and without crash protection because all these items are superior if aftermarket sources are available. In the future, I’d love to see wheels offered without tires because that’s a major expense that is more often changed out than kept OEM. Serious performance wheels (above 40kg) should also come completely disassembled to discourage new riders from skipping the vital step of learning on lower powered wheels, which (I personally feel) is essential for developing one’s own anti-wobble skills and lower-speed agility skills. I understand that I’m in the minority with this opinion but ultimately cheap accessories are better for the consumers because a greater percentage of the manufacturer’s costs can be applied to those parts that are mission-critical, like motherboard quality, firmware quality and battery/motor power. ❤
@@MADpack The lowest hanging fruit in the EUC business is to upgrade all performance EUCs to an Axial Flux motor, instead of the radial flux motor that is industry standard. This reduces the motor & weight/volume by 50%-70% for the same power output. A-F motors are beginning to be mass produced for scooters and motorcycles and there are “off-the-shelf” options that could be implemented by next year… if anyone wants an easy competitive advantage at only a slightly higher cost. If you’d like lower weight/ higher performance EUCs, advocating for Axial Flux motors is the path of least resistance w.r.t. incremental improvements that are inevitable. Keep your eyes open for this becoming the norm in the next 3-5 years.
I agree with everything you say about these wheels, however neither is the wheel for me. While i loved my v11, the top speed is just not high enough to allow for safe commuting amongst cars through speed matching. Ive test ridden a v14, and it felt smooth and powerful, but also bulky and top heavy with a good bit of wheel inertia making quick launches hard at the time. Now I have upgraded to a Begode Blitz, and while some of the criticisms i had with the v14 before were actually just a result of me not being used to the wheel, I still feel as though the weight and the top speed of it make it not the ideal wheel for me either. @@MADpack I suppose I mean more perfect than what they've offered before. More lightweight metal instead of plastic, higher speeds, ease of maintenance. @MADpack to clarify: the contact my knees make with the saddle/chassis at the top starts to make it hard. It's just too high so my inner knees get sore pressing against it and I can't ride it comfortably. I can drive it and steer, yeah, but the soreness and positioning of everything makes me prefer the V14. I can ride the v14 bowlegged or with my legs gripping the chassis like a vise. When I try to grip the V11Y tightly, the ergonomics don't make me feel snug to the wheel and secure; just sore where I grip. It's a preference. I can ride my v14 all day, but the saddle placement contacting my legs with the 11y makes me sore in 20 minutes.
