Best suggestion I received for electronic groupsets is to charge them at the beginning of the month. A good habit to start to ensure never having a dead battery.
I don't know how I missed the memo on the coin batteries in the shifters or didn't notice them in the app. I just checked their level and one was low, and I am about to head to an Ironman! I watched the video because I wondered if I was missing anything on the battery maintenance. I also didn't know about the LED lights on the shifters. Happy that they used the fairly common CR2032s on those because I have spares around the house for other gear. My husband (road biker) liked to work on bikes and took care of mine for me , but he passed away from cancer last year, and I only had the bike for a couple of months before he passed; he never mentioned it. Thanks so much!
Recommend removing batteries when putting your bike on a car -- they will be active when in motion and thus draining the battery. Had only ridden on mine a few times but done a bunch of driving with it and they died on me without my charger.
I synced my new SRAM rival sensors to my Wahoo Roam v2. Roam displays an alarm when the derailleur battery leval drops to a low level warning you to charge your batteries after your ride.
@@prestachuck2867 I'm not saying you're lying because maybe that is the only experience you have with the batteries. When I had eTap I had a battery break for no reason. The tab design is garbage. And the batteries I had needed charged every 4 or 5 days. Shimano's battery is well protected hence a much better design and the charge lasts me for two months. Now which which one is better fan boy? I have the sram red axs for a year now. Better than the invention of sliced bread. I have two chargers. Makes charging much easier. Carry a third battery in my saddle bag. Never had to use it. I leaves the batteries in the derailleurs when traveling. Keeps the ports clean. You can buy port blocks. Hard to get. The sram axs is great. Went from a sram force mechanical. I would NEVER go back. I have been riding/racing for 50 years. I have seen it all.
Hi, can we charge these batteries anytime or should we wait until their below 10 percent with the issue of the battery going flat before complete our ride, many thanks
Anyone have issue with the rear derailleur battery draining so fast. I charged mine before a 30 mile ride and haven't ridden since and now battery is low on the rear. Does the rear derailleur use battery even tho the bike is not in use?
Do you know when there will be a replacement for the Campagnolo Power Unit CH EPS V2 PU15 cheps Chorus Athena, mine is dead and the bike shop can not find a replacement......I have only had the bike 6mths from secondhand ..
As far as the shifter batteries go they do not last one year I’ve had my SRAM force e tap for 4 months about 170 miles a week and it’s dead already left me stranded with no shifting in the middle of nowhere. Sounds like I’m complaining but I’m not I love it
Does anyone know how to get accurate battery readings on the app. When I check my components in person they are all green but on the app they are showing red. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
I have one question..If I charge the battery , the led light shows red...not amber and never turn to green for fullt charged situation,,,even after many hours of leaving it charging. Does it mean the battery has lost its shelf life already ? Its only less than 2 years since I purchase the bike.
I never use the red/green lights; between the SRAM app and the Garmin Edge I have two different notifications on if the battery is getting "critical." Also, as I tend to use the rear derailleur much more frequently than the front, if I get a "battery critical" notification I simply switch the front and rear and have several more weeks of charge if necessary.
This bike was really easy to assemble ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
Not sure this really warranted a video. Note that this was ETAP AXS. The original ETAP is essentially the same but the shifter cr2032 battery cover is held on with 4 little screws. My shifter batteries took 4 years to generate a battery life warning on the Garmin. In terms of the derailleur batteries, i carry a spare. Fairly light and quick to change which isn't that often.
The battery charger does come with the bike. A usb charger that you plug it into does not, but pretty much every single living human being on the planet who can afford an eTap equipped bicycle has at least a half dozen usb chargers laying around the home. Most Usb rechargeable headlights and even some expensive (Wahoo) computers do not include a usb charger with the purchase. It’s not an issue unless you’re a hoarder.
Is there any way to get a percentage charge status on either the shifter or derraileur batteries? I'm sure I've seen this somewhere (maybe on my Wahoo head unit?), but I cannot find it again - just the green/red indicator in the AXS app or the LEDs on the components themselves.

Honestly really basic info here…was hoping for tips like should you drain the batteries fully before recharging? Should you swap front and rear regularly since the rear gets used a lot more? etc. etc.
The best range for lithium ion batteries is from 30-70%. Meaning you only charge to 70% and let it drain to 30%. In my opinion, this would be a little impractical though, because that way you can only use 40% of the batteries. That’s why I keep them in a range of 20-80%. As for swapping them around, yes that can be beneficial, because with every charge cycle you damage the batteries a tiny amount. By swapping them, you can even out that wear. If you’d charge them up to 100% and let them drain to 0% I would do this more often, because li-ion batteries *really* don’t like being charged and discharged fully. Other than that, I’d say there’s nothing else to say.
Run the battery until the red light comes on. Charge away. As to swapping them round, you can do this, but with the battery type it isn't neccessary. BTW, I'm about equal front to back as many shifts require a micro adjust of the front as well as the back throw.

I’ve had several of the batteries on the rear break in the past where the tab perishes and snaps off. Fortunately SRAM keeps replacing under warranty.
