I have C-parts now .. and I wasn’t sure that I liked how it was parted in the front because my “middle part” was so jacked up … but it looked so nice in up-styles … and after a few weeks following my retwists , I fell in love with its fullness and how it all fell together
I started mine with c parts but I also made sure I established a middle part and 2 side parts. I find that since my hair is 4/b/c not full this parting system definitely makes my hair look full. I have about 92 locs and people think I have more than I do because it looks full.
I have fine hair and have the block parting and I hate it too much scalp for days! I will be getting my locs cut off and starting over for the C parting system. I am 14 months into my journey and rather start over now than later.
I have freestyle/random parting, started with comb coils, I’m in my 6th year closely heading to year 7, and I love them!! Started and never looked back.. unless I’m doing a length check 🤣👏🏾🙌🏾
I started mine with freestyle/random parting as well. My first set I wasn’t happy with because I did square parting and it didn’t have the organic look that I was wanting. This time I am happier with the results (from Freestyle/Random parting)
@@readingmells sorry for the late reply, no I went to a loctician to start them and then after 5 months I did them myself. I wish I started them myself. 🤷🏾♀️
I started mine following more of a box braid kind of pattern and I think it makes it easy for me to do many hair styles because the locs can move easily in either direction. To keep my roots full, I retwist once a year
Thank you for this informative video, I plan on starting my loc journey in three weeks, I’m so excited 😆 I have been researching for weeks. Thanks for sharing this information 🙏🏾
I’m hearing more and more people talking about starting their locs with diamond parts. It is a really great parting system. All the best on your journey ❤️
I have diamond/triangle parts...its pretty much diamond all around until the top middle and left side which are straight because I HAD TO HAVE a middle and side part lol. This made those loc parts triangle. I'm 5 months in...no extentions.
Great information, I have been scrolling through the internet looking for information on which parting system allows me to style my hair with a side and also centre part and couldn’t find anything. Your comment has answered my questions, thank you 🙏🏾
This video was very informative. I've just started my loc journey 1 week ago (Dec.5). I have 64 locs which were pre made before my appointment. I'm obsessed with my hair and my new bold look. look forward to more videos!!
I started off with a part. I hated it. My locs were small and it was very hard to determine where to twist. I’m taking them out now. I’m going to restart them bigger with the brick lay
Many thanks for this simple informative video, getting locks done today, just wanted to make sure I had chosen the right partying system. So thumbs up 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾for your video!! Stay blessed 🙏🏾🌞 Update: I had the diamond pattern for my instant locks, it’s perfect for my hair type (fine ), my scalp is well covered and it looks fuller! So it’s perfect Thank you so much for your explanation
I have had multiple journeys but my current journey I have the c/fan parting system. My last journey I had the brick lay pattern and I didn't enjoy my dreads at all and I ended up cutting them around the three year mark.
I Have Decided I Want Dreads Which Method Should I Use If I Want A Really Full Look Like I Have Lots Of Them But I Don’t Want Them To Be Skinny But Kinda Thick
I am going to start my second Loc Journey in October. Hopefully I will have diamond parts. Glamazini here on RUclips has the diamond parting system for her locs.
My location didn't ask me about parts she just asked me how big I wanted them. I told her medium but I'm not sure if they are, some seems pretty small to me. Pretty sure my hair just isn't long enough yet, hopefully they will thicken up.
I am on my 3rd.... the first didn last long she gave me 52 comb coils and c parts... my friend did em.... then I got home like ummm yeeeea so these will too damn big and my hair is too damn fine! The second time (I considered the real first time) was pretty much immediately after the first she did free parting but they looked pretty square... they were cool but we settled on interlocking (which I never really wanted cuz of that textured look they have) since my hair is so fine and soft... I had those for 4mos and due to the fact I jus didn want my hair interlocked (and the fact my hair was sooo damn short and b/w retightings it just looked ridiculous! I was starting on like a lil 2.5in twa!) i just could not with them lil bitty damn sprouts!!! That set was medium size... Now I’m on my 3rd set (I let my hair grow out to 8/9inches) I said fuck all this “advice”... I’m doing them myself using the two strand twist method and did a grid parting system (which took forever)... I went a little smaller jus to be safe (can always combine but I’d rather not try to split)... I use to didn’t want the brick parting system because I did NOT want the scalpy look but wen I realized it was only during a fresh retwist I was like ok... I can rock with that... I want a fresh look wen it’s a fresh retwist... and I wanted to be able to part my hair certain ways... So this journey so far has been all good... I still feel cute... I’m able to maintain my hair easily (I’ve always wanted to self maintain)... I didn’t have to use anything but oil and water to do the twists... I can style it a little... And I was able to do my hair EXACTLY how I wanted them and the size I wanted... From what I’ve heard diamonds are pure ascetics... they have no purpose other than being cute... I’ve noticed they only stay diamond/triangle if you continuously go to a loctician. I’m happy with my choice... sometimes you really gotta go with your gut!!! ☺️
Thanks for this!!! I using a comb and since I can't see I just wing it and check with my mirror to make sure my twist arnt to small or parts not to big and so far its full in the back....
I’m starting my second set next month, I think my first set was random but also c shaped but also square, idk what that lady was doing lol I cut them a few months before I made it 4 years, I was considering brick layering but I really want my hair to look full lol idk what to do after this video lol
I took my starter locs down due to my parts being different sizes (some big, some small with different shapes). I asked the stylist for diamond parts and while she did do that for the back of my head, the front didn’t even come close to looking the same as the back. Thankfully I am getting them redone because going on this loc Journey is so important to me.
I started my locs in 2012 and cut them. I wasnt a fan of the parting system and I could never do anything with them. Getting them done again soon. Hopefully the fan style works better and looks more filling. I dont want to cut them again.
Hair density also matters. With thick and high dense hair, it seems to be easier to maintain your locs yourself if you have like a square or diamond shape verses the C shape because it's easier to know which strands goes where. With C shape, over time your strands is just every where in the wrong loc base plus the locs marry easily. If you plan on styling your hair it matters, if not then it doesnt really matter that much. Another thing is that it'll be hard to clean it back unless you go to a professional. I know from experience. If you have thick hair that's high density hair, you're less likely to get that easily visible neat look vs those with less dense hair. Oh... Retwisting takes longer with C parting because for each locs youre trying to figure out which strands belongs to which loc base by just the sense of feeling alone. With C parts, the scalp doesnt really show much even after a retwist. it's not a problem if you get your maintenance done by someone that can see your entire head. I can't speak on how it's like when it's interlocked tho.
I had this c parting. I cut my hair after a year! I have thick hair. I started with shoulder-length to. I also felt like my hair was to small and it took to long to retwist myself between professional visits. I asked for small-med size which I guess was pretty accurate when she parted my hair but I always went with interlocking because I knew it was hard for me to maintain myself so they seemed smaller than I was happy with. I didnt like the size of my locs even thou they were thickening up. Mostly I cut because of the frustration and time it took to retwist my hair myself. I just wasnt happy with it. I had to many locs to. I think i will def go with square or diamond. I think diamond looks BEAUTIFUL when styled!
@@shilohk4597 If you loc your hair again, and want to interlock, I suggest asking your loctician which interlocking pattern she will use. Most people use the 4 pt rotation but that causes you to have smaller/denser locs. You can look into using the 2 or 3 pt rotation if you don't want your locs so condensed. Or just switch to interlocking. I just started my locs with two strand twists about a month ago and I got my first maintenance done with interlocking. Check out my channel if you'd like to see them. But I'm waiting to see how it grows out on if I will switch to retwisting instead

Diamond parts are not so great for thick locs. Only medium or small unless you want to look very organic. Also it’s good for people with thicker and stronger hair. Not so much for thin hair.
Why would they not be good for fine hair? I have fine, small/micro sized starter locs and I love the diamond parts. I feel like they fall really nice and give me volume without looking scalp-y lol. I have some videos to track my progress on my channel but haven't shown my grid yet.

I think the brick pattern covers parts. The hair falls in between the parts. I normally do my box braids in that pattern also when the hair is sparse.
