Until Tekken came and showed how bare bones they were. No endings, obligatory 8 base roster characters, with just 2 characters added per new game, and almost no other game modes. But at least Sega noticed they were being left behind by episode 3. But around that time Namco answered with Tekken 3.
@@DontKnowDontCare6.9 Tekken was so cutting edge that it couldn't stop stealing ideas from VF even up until the latest entry. From mechanics, to stage designs, to customization, the ranking system, quest mode, and more, and they still never made a better fighting system than VF, which is what actually matters in a fighting game anyway. And VF3 is better than Tekken 3 by far.
To be fair, there is no way the game looked that good on the initial release. I am almost 100% positive that the version shown is the PS2 re-release from 2004 or the PC version which is running on newer hardware than on initial release was available. Almost 10 years after the Sega Saturn release. The fact that the game shown after, Virtua Fighter Remix, actually looks worse and runs in less frames per second should be telling.
@@rowdyjansen8159Not true at all. That’s exactly what the arcade version of VF2 looks like. It was a milestone in 3-D graphics and looked absolutely amazing when it was released, that isn’t some upscaled version. It’s the original arcade game.
came back and found the game of my childhood that i played with my brother. i am so amazed at how far this game came. Hope i can play it sometime in the future again. Thanks for this video man.
I didn’t know about these games but recently. I was searching for the anime to bring back some nostalgic memories from my childhood, then I learned that the anime is originally adapted from a video game and not from a manga.
It would've made more sense if the designers used the same animation style from the Virtua Fighter anime to make that 2D version, like the Master System/Game Gear ports.
It was always overshadowed by the 2 juggernauts of the the 90's. Mortal Kombat & Street Fighter. I remember playing this with friends back in the mid to late 90's. Akira, Jacky & Kage main right here. ^_-
I remember playing Virtua Fighter 1 and 2. Great games. Years later I put my hands on Virtua Fighter 5 but didn't play it that much. Turns out I stopped enjoying games as I got older.
A primeira franquia de luta 3D. Sem ela, games como tekken e soul calibur jamais existiriam. E curiosamente, é a única franquia em que o chefe final, Dural, nunca muda. E ano que vem, as lendas estão de volta...

As much as I love Virtua Fighter, it's a bummer that Sega has just been re-releasing VF5 over and over for almost 20 years. I mean, you can't call you game "Final Showdown" and then dip back into that well one more time with "Ultimate Showdown." What's left? "Marvel-Post-Credits Showdown?"
i remember you could fight robot boss at the end which is extremely difficult, but i never reached to this level but my cousin did and win, i was sooo jealous about it lol
@@fernandomartins7471 That's because you're used to endless jugggling, wall bounces & special moves. VF is more grounded & only for the purest of fighting game fans.
Good 3D graphics... but very limited style of fight and storyline, so generic. Maybe a good point for those who like a game close to real life..."without magic flavor"

Fun Fact:
Sega's originally planned protagonist for Shenmue was Akira Yuki.
Yes, Shenmue started out as a Virtua Fighter for Satur but was canceled to be released on the Dreamcast.
Akira Yuki?
The Father of DragonBall!

The leap from Virtua Fighter 1 to 2 is huge. That must’ve been one of those times when people thought “graphics will never look better than this”.

Here because a new VF was just announced! So hype.
Wow I loved playing these games when they first came out. I still own Virtua Fighter 1-5, Virtua Fighter Kids, and Fighters Megamix.
VF2 on Sega Saturn was ahead of its time.
I didn’t know about these games but recently. I was searching for the anime to bring back some nostalgic memories from my childhood, then I learned that the anime is originally adapted from a video game and not from a manga.
Honorable mentions:
VF 6 coming soon.
Virtua fighter, Virtua cop... Takes me back to the arcade.
I Miss Sega so much
You're in luck, they're back!
IT IS BACK!!
Yeaaaaaa
Who’s watching this after seeing the new virtua fighter trailer ?
I still remember how stunning Virtua Fighter 3 was upon release, and how blown away the gaming world was by it. Good times.
There was also a VF1 port for java phone, i remember it has one particular song that sounds weird and stuck in my mind like forever, lol
I honestly thought Tekken is a spinoff of Virtua Fighter
The lead designer on the original VF went over to namco and worked on Tekken
Im still so impressed by Virtua Fighter 2 on the Genesis and Virtua Fighter on the 32X

Still without ANY doubt the best 3D fighting game series!
Absolutely loved VF2❤

There is a charm to virtua fighter 1&2's graphics and music.
I had NO idea there were sprite based Virtua Fighter ports 😱 Feels like looking into an alternate universe
The music from the first one will always be more iconic than the others.
Sega seriously needs to release arcade perfect ports of 1, 2 (again), and 3 in one collection
0:13 that beat. My favorite
it started to go towards tekken gameplay, I hope they go back to basis for VF6
I cant believe VF4 was 2001?!
Virtual fighter 4 nostalgic ✨
Never heard of 10th anniversary but omg more series need to do special releases where we see newer characterd in older artstyles that is so cool
back in the day when it's between virtua fighter or soul calibur that i should play at the arcade
当時、1から2への進化に度肝抜かれましたね。

I will play and record all the games again when Virtua Fighter 6 is released

I own Virtua Fighter 2 for PC. I really wish they have the version 5 out for PC
they do now! ❤

When videogames were simple but exciting and amazing. Now they have better graphics, but boring and empty...
Virtue fighter 1994 sega Saturn was the best one
For all matter and purpose, Virtua Fighter was the very first Shenmue game.
Is it me or the hitting sound effects sounds the same? Like hitting metal or something, and char hovering a bit after juggle.
14:43 bro ive been trying over a decade lol
5:39 there was no wind
5:34 VIRTUA FIGHTER *KIDS*????!!!
evolution from virtua fighter to tekken style
Best is 5 FS.
Sega trying to make Virtua Fighter a 2D fighter for the Genesis and Game Gear after canceling Eternal Champions was laughable.
street fighters x tekken = virtual fighters.
5:31 Was it really for the kids😂?
It's for babies
Those VF2 graphics are insane for 1994 , I've seen worse looking PS2 games.
No one can beat bloody roar series
NO ITS FROM 1993 to 2006. 2021 doesn't count because it's just a remaster and the textures and bloom effects from the 360 and PS3 were dumb down.
If you think that way, you haven't played all the games.
I like VF2.
Good Joel vf6
The Sega Genesis version of Virtua Fighter 2 sucked.
32x* VF1
they should make more fighting games for nintendo switch this year
Wo ist Virtua Fighter 2 ??????
Did you see the video?
Except for the iconic Sarah Bryant, all the characters' outfit design throughout the years have been boring
Why do i feel that virtua fighter was a tekken rip off
Virtua Fighter came out first, without this game Tekken would not have existed
Tekken is newer but is pretty better than VF for me

That's because Virtua Fighter was the first ever 3D Fighter. Sega wanted to recapture the essence of physical martial arts.
Virtua Fighter 1 (1993) - PS1
Virtua Fighter 2 (1994) - PS1
Virtua Fighter 3 (1996) - PS1
Virtua Fighter 4 (2001) - PS2
