    Timing could not be better - this very morning (UK) was considering the 24-70-vs 24-90 to then go with the 90-280 which was a bit long for me- now I know - 24-70 + 70-200. - perfect thanks

    Me being lensless between 25mm - 69mm, this focal length has become one of my favorites for panos. Used in the portrait position 70 - 110 mm for most so far. Even changing focal points as moving across looking down a commercial fishing port canal & merged in LR with excellent results. Good to Leica offering more options.

    Excellent overview and welcome addition!
    P.S. I noticed that Sigma had released firmware affording the use of the Leica x1.4 teleconverter with their TC-capable lenses as well.

    Nick. Well done. Cannot find a video here on your channel on the M11D. Can you format SD cards and/or the internal memory via the Fotos app? Thanks.

    Thanks for the lens review. - Concerning that noise thing you're talking about, that would be very nice to have a comparison SL2-S and SL3 if it comes to noise. I use my SL2-S heavily for reportage and other photographers always ask me, how I can dare to shoot up to ISO 25000 (I do almost everything with the APO-Summicron-SL 2/75 and use my legs for zooming). ISO 25000 is no issue on the SL2-S, that's the main reason I hesitate to get the SL3, I'm waiting for the SL3-S, 24 megapixel totally sufficient for reportage and people/portrait. Would be nice though if the SL3-S comes with a 33 megapixel BSI sensor - stacked sensor or even global shutter ;)

    Thanks for the in depth review! - Wow, did Leica organise an event in the Arctic region (Greenland) for testing/presenting that lens?

      Not really, I have been on some assignments in the Arctic and took this lens with me as part of my role as a field tester.

    I have difficulty with seeing any point in selling a rebadged Sigma lens... 🤔
    Other than adding some aluminum and some magnesium (and 250 grams !!), is there any difference !??

    • @nickdardalis3535
      @nickdardalis3535 Месяц назад

      Do your research better and you'll discover it's not '*just* a rebadged Sigma. We won't do the work for you, but it's out there if you look and read.

      if someone buy a Leica you don't want sigma glass

    • @KeeeeenW
      @KeeeeenW Месяц назад

      Yeah! I agree I would not buy them! I am happy with LUMIX lens on my SL2 and plan to buy the sigma 24-70 II. With that said, the Leica version usually has slightly better image quality specifically on the corners possibly due to better coating and / or quality control. Hopefully this lens handles better than the Sigma version but the weight would be reason for me not to buy this lens.

      This is a Leica lens manufactured to the usual high quality Leica specifications. For instance, it is fully weather sealed.

    Will the extender with the apo SL lenses? Such as 35 and 75. Will the f2 lens become f4 with the use. Thanks.

      I have not tested side by side but anecdotally, this lens is as sharp as the 90-280mm.

    Is there one good reason why I shoudnt buy the much cheaper Sigma F2.8 70-200 instead?

    • @LeicaCameraAustralia
      @LeicaCameraAustralia  Месяц назад

      Many reasons. This lens is a Leica lens built to Leica specifications so as to perform to Leica standards.

    I didn't realize that the stabilization in my SL3 will do nothing for me once I put the 90mm Summicron M lens on the body. Isn't that a let down????

    • @LeicaCameraAustralia
      @LeicaCameraAustralia  Месяц назад +1

      It works up to and including 90mm. So stabilisation works with fine the 90mm M as long at it is recognised by the camera via lens encoding or manually set in the lens list.

    When sigma make the 70-200mm F2.8 last year, I was think Leica will bring a 70-200mm at 2024, just a few month early then I expect. And sigma make a 28-105mm F2.8 few day before, so, will Leica make one as well ?

    100-400 not sharp enough, 90-280 too expensive, this is just right.

    • @johnkasianowicz6536
      @johnkasianowicz6536 Месяц назад

      Do you have a 100-400? I do and my first tests w/an SL2 suggested the lens was decent from 100-300, and less sharp beyond 300 (all tests w/the camera on a tripod). I’ll retest it.
