      The trap that most ppl fall into is not making the distinction between being honest and being demeaning. That's the problem these days, no nuance, everything is black and white. I for example agree that obesity isn't something to celebrate or be proud about it but that doesn't mean I should go the other way and use shame tactics. What is wrong with raising awareness while at the same time being kind/supportive/compassionate? That can't be honesty too?

    • @Dakayto
      @Dakayto 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@joeclark1621 She wasn't using shame tactics. She was trying to prove a point because, at the time, obesity in America and the UK was alarmingly increasing, and there's a lot of lazy overweight people who keep making excuses and claiming they could never lose weight, but never even tried. She actually does care about the health and well-being of those around her, and yes, she could have used different methods that would have made made everyone feel more comfortable, but I believe that her method is just as effective.

    • @joeclark1621
      @joeclark1621 9 месяцев назад +2

      Well I never said that obesity is something to celebrate or glamourize. In fact, it's common sense that it may raise health concerns but we can address something and work on it without being demeaning about it. That's all I am saying.@@Dakayto

    Katie Hopkins is ruthless and brutally honest. She is absolutely correct here. Very few fat people have a valid excuse for being fat. In majority of cases , as Katie proves in documentary if you eat excessively and don't eat a balanced diet, don't exercise , the pounds will pile up rapidly. If you eat balanced diet and actually do some exercise you should start to shed a few pounds. This shows that being fat , in most cases , it is self-inflicted.

      @Haylla2008 9 лет назад +10

      18robbie72 Absolutely correct? No. Partially at most (and only through a mix of rudimentary knowledge and blind luck). You can't use someone who hasn't had issues with weight to do an experiment like this and just apply a blanket statement that it's possible for everyone to not be fat based on that one person's body and how it responded to the experiment. Someone trying that in a scientific community would get laughed at. Proving a point with a sample size of 1 just doesn't cut it. She can only see one tree at a time and can't figure out that you need to see all the trees to get an accurate picture of the forest. Ignorance at it's finest.

    The interviewer at 1.50 is missing the point. Calories in/calories out is not a "belief system". It's fact. Being obese carries huge negative implications for health. That isn't a belief system, it's fact. I don't necessarily care if a stranger has health issues but when it's a problem that affects over 2/3s of the population it becomes everyone's problem. No one exists in a bubble and your size (and resulting health status) does affect society and the people around you on a day to day basis.Bravo to Katie for "taking one for the team". She's copping a lot of flack for this and she's a fucken trooper for doing it. It is necessary.

    • @robinlillian9471

      Calories in/calories out is a lie based on a misrepresentation of physics. Continuing to believe in lies after they have been disproven also has a bad effect on society. It makes people sicker instead of healthier. You can also look thin on the outisde, but be fat on the inside. It's called TOFI. It's the fat on the INSIDE--in the liver-- that is bad for your health. So, a very large percentage of you vicious haters have a nasty surprise coming when YOU get sick, despite the fact that you LOOK thin.

It almost seems like a conspiracy! Does America want us to be fat? Well, there's a whole bunch of foods grown from the land at the grocery store! She is talking about gaining weight by eating non-healyhy junk food which contains high sugar and salts which your body actually cannot digest. This results in gaining weight which can cause fatty problems around your organs. There are people who eat junk food on a day to day basis that is the reason why they put on weight. I have experienced it. I tried eating junk food for 10 days n I gained 2 kgs not a joke. I am now nearly in the normal bmi range (need to lose about 3/4 kg) since I’ve lost 8 kg this year. This woman is telling the truth as harsh as it might be to admit it to ourselves; if you’re overweight (unless you’re that 5%) you can lose the weight by changing your lifestyle. I also want to state that overweight and obese are not the same thing. If you know anything about bmi, you’ll know that overweight is only 15 kg after normal weight and then there’s obesity. So overweight is only for people who aren’t that fat. Just wanted to state that since I can see that a lot of people don’t know this

I enquired about the secret and it turned out almost all of them would go back and hog on junk food whereas on the other hand I reduced my intake to 2/3rd of what I used to have. After losing all the extra weight my life changed drastically to the point I started to excel at work. It was quite a learning.

    I actually like her. She says what she sees and doesn’t give a single shit what anyone thinks which you kinda have to admire lol.

    She may be mean and harsh, be she does have some sense in her thick skull. Like so many 'fat' people in the UK are taking advantage by receiving benefits from being 'unable to work' because they are 'fat'. The money my family pays should go to the NHS and care services not for people who -not put put in a harsh way- are too lazy to loose the weight and admit that they are 'fat'. Not hating on 'fat' people, just stating the harsh truth.

    I do find it annoying how Katie says that it's rude for others to call her a b*tch but then she goes on to call another person disgusting to their face smh

    "Don't you think that that is discrimination?"
    Yes, of course. It's discrimination based on behavior rather than intrinsic, immutable qualities. Anyone who claims this is wrong is a hypocrite; we all do this. We all *should* do this. I'd love to know if this reporter would be perfectly fine with a surgeon pounding away at a whiskey bottle just prior to operating on her.

    Katie is 100% right. I've had to say 'no' to all my favourite foods, especially chocolates, my entire life to keep myself in shape. It's not easy but it's worth it. So I feel absolutely and deservedly superior to each and every fat slob out there.

    She put her money where her mouth is so to speak. I feel that it's so easy for people to throw half-baked opinions around but the madwoman actually put herself through the gauntlet and backed hers up, and I respect the hell out of that. It's metal af.

    When I gained weight I knew that it was totally my choice of food, amount of activity and calories spent. When someone called me fat, I started to change. I really appreciate honesty. It opens people eyes.

    100% agree with this woman. eat less, workout more, and stop making excuses (the majority of people, who are fat, do not suffer from a disease that effects weight)
