- Ever since the first apes climbed out of the trees, there were apes who did it faster. Some apes just fell out of the tree. It's a sad fact that all apes are not created equal.
Presenting our newest tree-climbing-down simulator, matchmaking. Play alone or with your friends against players of similar skill levels. Climb out of that tree at your own speed, confident that the apes around you aren't beating you to the bananas. Which technically grow IN trees, but maybe the ripest ones probably fall to the ground? Yeah, that makes sense. Look, this isn't a banana simulator, people.

4 years later and they still don't fix that bug where you can't vote for the next map, takes hours to find a match in competitive, cheaters still can't be kicked from competitive matches, you're put into games that are about to finish and in the loser team... by far the most worthless update yet.
Well, when I used to play tf2 in 2010 I was wishing you could play at 3 am, but every server was empty at 3 am. Now you can play even at 6 am and you can find server with players at any hour, this update made me come back to tf2 after being years playing DotA

When the vote doesn't work, type either one of the following
Next_map_vote 0: this will vote for the same map you've played on again
Next_map_vote 1: will vote for the map in the middle
Next_map_vote 2: will vote for the map to the right.
No one knows about this despite how many people I tell it to but hey, it's fun being able to literally choose the next map the whole server has to play on now :3

It might be a cost thing. With Casual mode they can just load the map players are looking for, instead of having to keep ten empty Hydro servers running 24/7.

They just go there for the annual winners party straight after the battle. No healing or anything, just how they were when it ended to flex on the years losers (thats my theory)

I don’t think anyone within Valve was necessarily forced to work on HLA. The company’s structure means that staff naturally gravitated to the next big thing and left their usual projects of interest, i.e. TF2, to work on said big thing, for which they’d be paid the same wages as if they hadn’t.
@@jockeyfield1954 I'm pretty sure a lot of tf2 devs went to work on Half-Life Alyx by choice. Now that its published they could be working on some sort of DLC or devs have moved back to to their stations if they wanted to, which likely means that some tf2 devs who worked on Half-Life Alyx have moved back.

I moved to community servers for like a month after this update came out and quit until the Jungle Inferno update. Played the game for 2 months after that update and since then I didn't play at all until just recently. And still, after all this time, the matchmaking is still godawful. The game was in a far better place pre MYM in almost every respect. Half the server typically leaves after rounds end, cheaters are in every game, people vote for the same few maps over and over again, you can't choose your team, almost all of the scout weapons are dogshit for some reason, lobbies are often half full, autobalance is lackluster as hell, the pointless leveling system adds nothing to the game other than a visual glitch that still hasn't been fixed yet. Just awful stuff. They traded an efficient matchmaking system that always got me into a game in 2-8 seconds for one gamemode for a matchmaking system that takes 30 seconds to get me into a half full server if I ask it to search for 4 gamemodes.
Same I started playing tf2 during the gun metal update and then I stopped after jungle inferno this quarantine got me back in tf2
@-KracN- I got into TF2 around 2013 and I left the game totally in 2018 but I came back two years later because of Rick May and started playing around with the Workshop features.
I quit and am never going back. I moved on to TF2Classic

Dark Souls, which people still consider to be very much alive, can't even reach 5k.

I was referring to how poorly the meet your match update was rolled out which has been the "start" of Valve's continuous mistreatment of TF2, even today. I still consider TF2 killed in spirit but the game is by no means dead. I am saying this as a fan who still plays the game since 2014.

Blu team is an accurate representation of all tf2 players right now
Fun fact: Canonically this is what happens in the comics, none of the mercenaries from Blu or Red actually die in the lore, they're simply beaten up and then sent home after the winning team laughs at them and takes their stuff, hence why they face each other in so many skirmishes and all of them are still alive even after the fights. They only start actually killing when they fight Gray Mann's robots and the TFC mercs

i think they sped up spy so he could backstab medicz, since medics run slightly faster than the spy b4 meat ur match
EZ Games Now all medi guns have the ability of the quick fix, you run as fast as your healing target. So if you heal a scout you negate the spy buff I think.
Spy might be good on pubs, but if you play comp spy is the weakest class.

@@Tf_Kid dedicated servers owned by valve that had alot more functionality compared to the servers in casual we have today. Back in the pubs, you could switch teams if you wanted, autobalance wasn't busted, rounds were pretty much infinite as there was no set ending to the amount of rounds a map would end on, connectivity was much less of an issue compared to today.
I'd rather have this game remain infested with bots if it meant getting pubs back.

I have 3 suggestions to break the bot crisis slightly in a new update:
1. Get rid of everything that was part of Meet Your Match in 2016

Tf2 became popular because it's free. Paying 30$ for a 14 year old game in which valve doesn't give a shit? No one's gonna buy it
