Small detail i noticed at 2:01 As each robot is starting up, you can hear the sounds of different engines cranking up, as if each robot required a different motor for each of them. I like how much depth was put into this trailer, even viewing it 10 years later.
In mvm you can hear the engines of giant robots (not small robots unfortunately) and different class robots have different engine sounds Scout sounds like a high reving motorcycle while heavy sounds like a big truck

You're not overthinking it, you can see later on before heavy screams that both demo and scout look anxiously at heavy to see what they should do next, so yeah Valve definitely intended to be communication just through that alone

What I love the most is that the 6 six classes featured is accurate to what an mvm team would be today, medic for healing, scout for money, demo for stickies, soldier for banners, engi for sentries, and heavy for damage

So for anyone wondering, this video is actually canonically a (mostly) accurate representation of what was going on with the mercs at the time gray mann invaded. Pyro, spy, and sniper werent there at the start because pyro was running a very successful company, spy was off doing spy things, and sniper was searching for his real parents. Also, Heavy didnt have his minigun because Mann co. shut down, he gets it back later tho. Im fairly sure this is accurate, but correct me if i missed something.
The stuff you're thinking of are things from after this video. RED and BLU all got pooled together for Mann vs Machine, what you're describing (like Pyro being a CEO) seems like stuff from the comics, that are set after the robots won

Apart from the shotguns getting pumped multiple times, this trailer is excellently choreographed. 0:20 has the camera cut synced to the bell stab in the music, 0:38 has the guitar portion of the song kicking in with a camera cut to Engie’s guitar, and my favourite, the reveal of the robots at 2:02 synced to the music transitioning to the low bass guitar (is that the right instrument?). Very cool how the song had basically only acoustic instruments up until the reveal of the robots. And the camera work is great too. Good choices of angles, panning, foreground and background, etc. The sequence of movement does a good job at making it feel like Heavy was on a literally unspoken march to recruit these teammates. 0:28 has a distant shot of Heavy and the edge of the baseball zooming out to reveal Scout much closer to the camera showing that Scout will be Heavy’s first recruit, and at 0:41 while Engie is the camera’s focus there’s Heavy and Scout’s legs in the foreground to remind us they’re going toward that big threat in the distance. Then the camera very slowly pans right until the camera cut at 0:46 that continues the camera pan to the right at a faster speed. 1:08 shows Heavy’s boots marching alone before they’re joined by the other mercs’ boots, and 1:17 after Medic was just established in the immediately previous shot, there’s a very nice pan from the left side of the screen where we know the Medic will show up from, zooming out to fully show all 6 mercs walking toward the camera side by side. There’s probably more cinematography to analyse here, but I could be here all day, so to summarise, this is an impressively satisfying and detailed choreography for a 12-year old trailer in SFM

As each robot is starting up, you can hear the sounds of different engines cranking up, as if each robot required a different motor for each of them. I like how much depth was put into this trailer, even viewing it 10 years later.
In mvm you can hear the engines of giant robots (not small robots unfortunately) and different class robots have different engine sounds
Scout sounds like a high reving motorcycle while heavy sounds like a big truck

I could be COMPLETELY overthinking this, but at 1:16 when Blu Medic walks out next to Red Scout, both of them give each other a side eye and keep it there for a few seconds, just to see if both teams are really one for now. Love it
You're not overthinking it, you can see later on before heavy screams that both demo and scout look anxiously at heavy to see what they should do next, so yeah Valve definitely intended to be communication just through that alone

So for anyone wondering, this video is actually canonically a (mostly) accurate representation of what was going on with the mercs at the time gray mann invaded. Pyro, spy, and sniper werent there at the start because pyro was running a very successful company, spy was off doing spy things, and sniper was searching for his real parents. Also, Heavy didnt have his minigun because Mann co. shut down, he gets it back later tho. Im fairly sure this is accurate, but correct me if i missed something.

Apart from the shotguns getting pumped multiple times, this trailer is excellently choreographed. 0:20 has the camera cut synced to the bell stab in the music, 0:38 has the guitar portion of the song kicking in with a camera cut to Engie’s guitar, and my favourite, the reveal of the robots at 2:02 synced to the music transitioning to the low bass guitar (is that the right instrument?).
Very cool how the song had basically only acoustic instruments up until the reveal of the robots.
And the camera work is great too. Good choices of angles, panning, foreground and background, etc. The sequence of movement does a good job at making it feel like Heavy was on a literally unspoken march to recruit these teammates.
0:28 has a distant shot of Heavy and the edge of the baseball zooming out to reveal Scout much closer to the camera showing that Scout will be Heavy’s first recruit, and at 0:41 while Engie is the camera’s focus there’s Heavy and Scout’s legs in the foreground to remind us they’re going toward that big threat in the distance. Then the camera very slowly pans right until the camera cut at 0:46 that continues the camera pan to the right at a faster speed. 1:08 shows Heavy’s boots marching alone before they’re joined by the other mercs’ boots, and 1:17 after Medic was just established in the immediately previous shot, there’s a very nice pan from the left side of the screen where we know the Medic will show up from, zooming out to fully show all 6 mercs walking toward the camera side by side.
There’s probably more cinematography to analyse here, but I could be here all day, so to summarise, this is an impressively satisfying and detailed choreography for a 12-year old trailer in SFM
