I was shocked when I realised I had started to sympathise with Aegon halfway through Season 2. I almost fooled myself into believing he is a good guy. Until this point, Rhaenyra was straigh-up the hero and Aegon the villain. She continues to be goodie-goodie but the difference is that now it's becoming annoying. She spent the entire season whining about not wanting men to die for her and war being bad. It's not relatable anymore after the thirtieth time.
@@parkbahce100, I don't think this crossed their mind. He became sympathetic because we saw him being insecure and genuinely trying to be a good king despite being bad at it. We also saw him mourning his son's death and trying to prove himself worthy of the crown by going into battle against everyone's advice, which led to him being mutilated and nearly killed, making us pity him even more. Also, they contrasted him with Aemond, who is far more evil than him and makes him look good in comparison.
honestly if they do 3 or 4 big book events in season 3 HOTD could redeem itself in the next 2 seasons. since there's still so much left for them to do.
Aegon is supposed to be a bad guy (because he’s a grapist) while Rhaenyra is supposed to be a good guy. But I root for Aegon a lot more than Rhaenyra because he’s the only character in this season whose actions made sense, while Rhaenyra did so many things that are contradictory to what the show tried to portray her. For example, she kept saying that she doesn’t want bloodshed but she also smiled when hundreds of civilians got eaten by her dragons and she loves to keep her council in the dark. That’s why none of them respect her.
thats the problem cause they clearly want to show some kind of progression with Rhaenyra but episode 7 felt unearned if you look at the previous 6 episodes and then in ep8 she was ready to go to war but she was also all ohnooo should people really die for me blablablabla and then mysaria had to OK it and then HEY luckily Alicent comes along to give her an out
I like your changes I would like to suggest some additions 1. I would eliminate all of Daemon’s visions and prophesies that blatantly predict the future. Instead I would have Daemon haunted be a ghost or monster. Alts would say that he is cursed for being a descendent of Aegon the conqueror and claims that he is being terrorized by the ghosts of harren the black. The ghost of mister looks like the green man and keeps trying to drag him into the gods eye. At the end he discovered that helaena was sending him these visions to punish him for jaehaerys’ murder. I think that would make Halena more interesting. 2. arryk cargyll should be mortally wounded and live long enough to reviel that Cole ordered him to Dragonstone. This would cause rhaenyra to order Rhaenys to destroy Cole’s army. 3. Corlys should be more mad at rhaenyra for Rhaenys death. As the books describe. 4. alicent should blame herself for Aegon’s injuries 5. Some people in KL should be happy that Meleys the dragon is dead after the deaths of hundreds of small folk in season 1 6. If you are having Alicent meet with Rhaenyra in episode 8 then Alicent should be imprisoned for her bad discussion. If rhaenyra is going is going to imprisons Alicent when she captures KL anyway, it doesn’t change much for Alicent to be held at the end of the season. 7. The riverlanders should already be kneeling for Rhaenyra before Daemon does because they already said they support her and not Daemon in episode 7.
What a ridiculous thing to say. Ultimately it's Ryan Condal who is the show runner and he's the one that approves of everything that happens in the season.
3:06 I really disagree. It was really cool to see Oscar Tully come into his own and play the game of thrones. And it would not really make sense for him to apologize for crimes he ordered, and then kill the guy he ordered. It would just not read right. It wouldn’t make him look good to them at all. It’s a win for Oscar, and the development I saw for Daemon was his willingness to put up with the embarrassment of being bossed around by a twink, so that he could get that army.
Here is the issue all of those men know he was the one who ordered willem to do it. Which is why Oscar makes him kill the guy. Daemon does not look good in their eyes already Oscar literally says that in his speech. I think they would gain much more respect for him owning up to his actions and saying he was wrong than him just sitting there. Hell let’s say Willem demands a trial by combat and Daemon steps up to fight him. Like I agree I live what it does for Oscar but the scene does not play right with Daemon for me personally
Ngl the riot in Kings Landing could have easily been because of the conflict between Larys and Aemond. Aemond instead of dumbly trying to kill his brother could have inadvertently done so with Rhaenys choosing to die a badass like her book self and take down Aegon with her. Aemond already reviled as a kinslayer could have rumors spread about him attempting to harm Maelor and the rest of the royal family. So the mob would be attacking the royal carriage on the way to the Sept attempting to protect the beloved Helaena and Allicent (like how they are in the books) from the “kinslayer Aemond.” Aemond could then put down the riot with the gold cloaks. And feeling pressured by the Blacks he’d on his own devise a plan to attack Harrenhall with Cole. This would add more depth to Aemond and making him a better foil for Daemon as both would be loyal to their brothers like how he was in the books.
The reason I dont have a problem with Helaena is because I don't see her as a player in the dance more of a omniscient spectator shes just there and she sees how its gonna end so she just kindof warns everybody but no one listens just how viserys was practically watching everything fall apart but when he tried to fix it no one listened either which would be why Daemon finally listens at the end because through the visions he finally listened to viserys and through that he was able to gain the insight helaena was trying to give everyone else
Well hotd will only have 4 seasons in total and theyll have to rush to the ending in 16 episodes. Season 1 was fine but clearly had issues because they decided to condense 20/30 years into 10 episodes. It was assumed that s2 would have fewer issues because they didnt have to do that but instead it was somehow worse than season 1. So not sure if two seasons can save this show especially when thematically they're weak and that's the foundation that the show is built on
OK grease so I totally understand where you’re coming from. I feel like this season had a lot of filler and I loved episode four that was great. I love Tom Glenn Carney. I don’t know if I said his name right but I feel the same way you do I feel like they could’ve made this season a lot better than they did and they didn’t, right ❤ also since when the hell can Helena basically psychically talk to people hundreds of miles away?
In season 1 they could keep haelena apart of the green council as to further the impact on blood and cheese because although im more sad for haelena but she isnt completely innocent in her family usurpation, keep daemon as the ruthless prince but show growth as in which he no longer the prince who is gonna rush in the battle... after haelena married aegon alicent address her as "MY QUEEN" she actually gave her POWER AWAY TO HER DAUGHTER .. SHE STILL HAS A VOICE AS QUEEN DOWAGER i agree they keep could keep rhaenyra and alicent scene on dragonstone but have alicent suggests splitting the realm and be that same women who says " my son aemond will come with fire and blood". The women who delivers the red keep took an chance on rhaenyra and knowing that her sons will soon rescue them... that she MIGHT be spared..
Also I wish Daemon and Rhaenyra were more of a team, you know. Confiding in each other and raging war against the Greens. They are the focal point of the show to me. Sadly, I feel like the Showrunners (specifically Sara Hess) is shoving Daemon aside and replacing him with Mysaria as her most trusted and loyal ally.
The other thing I don’t like is that HBO Max didn’t release the season pass on Apple Store and Apple Store is selling it for $30 right now. I would’ve bought the season pass instead of signing up for HBO Max but they basically force you to sign up for HBO Max, which is really messed up.
for Daemon's arc I'd cut the scene of Daemon with his mom.
Preach Brother Preach 🗣🗣🗣
that was actually the best scene

Yeah if they’re able to land the next seasons then I think season 2 will be seen in a better light in retrospect
