Hi there, we're very sorry to hear about your experience. While we don't know for certain what the issue is, it could be a result of having untreated fuel sit idle in the fuel system for too long. Hello, Thank you for contacting the Ariens Company. You can drain the fuel from the float bowl or syphon out the old fuel. We recommend adding a fuel stabilizer to your fuel to prevent breakdown. Thanks
Mine is fairly new. Last year, it didn’t want to start up on the first run of the season. I found a video showing to hold the electric start and press the primer at the same time, and fortunately that worked. This year, it’s not wanting to start up again. Why is that? I didn’t think it was supposed to be this challenging, especially being fairly new.
Old gas? Did you use Non ethanol gas? New spark plug? My family and friends ALL have issues EVERY year and it's that stuff. But, 90% time carberator is gummed up from the ethanol gas left in there. ALWAYS use NON ETHANOL gas and run empty at end of season.
Probably old gas. My dad came over and drained the gas, then we put in some new gas and it eventually started. But I’d been using this fuel stabilizer my dad uses and he’s never had any issues that I’m aware of with starting the next season. But running the tank empty at the end of the season sounds like a good idea to skip that hassle.
It shouldn't matter, because until you press down the drive or auger levers, neither one is mechanically connected to what they control. Hence no torque or load is being put on the engine. I see it's been a year since you asked, and so you've probably already figured that out, but I'm answering anyway in case anyone else is wondering.
Since day one when new, won't start in cold weather. Have tried exact manual procedures as well as less priming & even no prime & less choke. Not even a partial fire, won't even sputter & becomes flooded (blowing gas out exhaust) . So if it's below 40 degrees I have an electric heater stationed near intake & engine block for about 45 minutes and it starts easily every time. I guess I shouldn't expect a snow blower to start in cold weather!!! I use ethanol free gas in all my small engines.
