For those worried about the snow "on" the house, which it is. The snow I'm throwing is below the highest point, building layers... Also notice the neighbor came out & has not said a word, its been done like this for years. Thank U's for the concern but...... 1.) Plow companies have been doing that for years LONG before I accepted the job. Hard packed snow that can only then be moved by heavy machinery... 2.) The client suggested I throw it there long before I even started & this is my 3rd season in with them. The neighbors know because the truck plow was worse & yes, they have complained about them! BOTH prefer someone to use a snow blower. 3.) There is a landscaping bed the length of the house that is graded away from the house. 4.) Putting the snow "somewhere" a lot of the time is the "only" option with what is usable at the time & accepted by the client as the job..... 5.) The new driveway edge has not been filled & acting as a temporary drain, still don't need it. 6.) Because I do a BY FAR cleaner job than a Truck Plow..... I get paid more than I requested, & because it's a mom/pop barber shop they offer free haircuts... So please, some, learn how to be constructive & control ur bias! Thank U!
The Kracken is a beast for sure. I just got to use my Deluxe 24 the first time this season in some wet snow. The Deluxe 24 would throw that snow just as well, but not as fast.
@@paulcondie2520 I could do that, if I wanted to. The stock Deluxe 24 I have does a good job at clearing show. I live in a subdivision and I already have to be mindful of the chute deflector angle so I don't launch snow on to neighbouring driveways. Same thing with the Kracken.
@@bwillan FACTS, I was throwing snow towards a house and thank goodness I lifted the chute. It picked up a rock and completely cleared the top of the house and into the neighbor's yard. Freaked me out but thank goodness Arien's (not only) can really REALLY throw snow
I have one. Best snowblower I've ever run!. Btw, its the amount of water content in the snow that makes it stick. The wetter the worse. A heated bucket would make more snow stick. Thats why you can't make snowballs or build a snowman with dry, powdery snow.
I'm happy u like the machine, glad it's working out for u. We can only assume, seeing none of us has built anything like these, assuming u don't build them too.... But that bucket being warm enough will not cause it to stick IMO. It should slide right off, like butter on a hot pan... So long as the walls r still painted & not rough, it should. If that was the case, that u suggested. Then my handles would be loaded with snow when I leave it running while shoveling a few locations & on the muffler guard. I paint all my machines every season swapping, so roughness shouldn't be an issue here.
@@ScottWhalen81 People who have a heated garage are advised to let the machine sit outside for a bit to allow the metal to get acclimated to the cold to prevent sticking. Snow being chewed up by the augers and thrown out of the chute by the high-speed impeller is completely different than falling snow instantly melting away on a hot muffler or heated grips. That's why before I brought up the contrast between wet "sticky" snow and dry powdery snow.
@@smallblock412 Thanx for ur thought but I still believe it will help. With the housing being so warm/hot, it won't take long for the snow/ice to slip right off. So long as the heat is consistent like the hand grips. The idea isn't to "melt" the incoming snow as fast as it can..... It's to heat the auger housing & the propeller housing, heck maybe even heat the shoot as well. The shoved snow coming in may stick, but it won't stick for long. Plus whatever snow does pile on top of the auger/propeller housing may have a better chance of slipping off. Especially if they added a pitch on top of the propeller housing, heck the battery may even fit under that pitch. Auger may stick as usual, unless there is a way to warm that up too. If, that's if lol.. If I get the opportunity to, I would love to build it.. If it happens to fail, not a big deal.
I could only wish that everyone had the chance to not only experience this machine but have one. Couple of tweaks I would like but nothing to stop me from being happy owning it.
Nice unit. I have a older toro 824xl thing is impressive i have got only like 400$ into it but i do all my own work im a mechanic love my toros but that machine you have is nice man 👍

Fun to see how you work. A little busy during your 180 degree turn 🙂 I like to see your throttle technique but wonder if sometimes a more steady pace and using the handles to control the traction (by pushing down) are more effective than jerking the throttle. But I will for sure test it myself on my Rapidtrak PRO!
@@dagjohnsen I completely agree with you about the turn, it was funny. However there was a vehicle that snuck out nowhere down the road I thought it was coming my way (main road), which ended up turning before it got to me..... As for the throttle control on my model but on some other models. It is a variable control throttle, it does not have teeth to stop at each speed. Also the rapid track is variable controlled as well and not done by a brake control like mechanism that most the models have..... So as I go I'm both controlling the variable tracks along with the variable throttle. When the tracks are down on this machine, there is no pushing the handles down. In fact, I can stand on the back of that machine and that front end is not coming up unless I really really forced it.
@@dagjohnsen If I remember correctly.... No other models, Ariens or not, do not have the variable track controls. They all use a brake cable system to drop the track. & Push up the track to lift it.. The Kraken, which is the one I have, seems to be the only model with an electronic variable control using a piston.
@@ScottWhalen81 I have the Rapidtrak PRO myself and the biggest difference is your variable tracks. But since my machine are at my cabin I have to remove way bigger loads since I may have been away for a month. So if you check my videos you will see me removing up to 30 inches of old packed snow. With a wooden floor underneath with less traction I can promise you that you also would have needed to apply downword pressure at the handles to remain traction. I had Yamaha 1028 before and it had way more traction than the Rapidtrak PRO. By a huge margin. But the Ariens is much stronger and has enough traction, and with the autoturn as well it is all in all a better machine imo. Very happy with it. If they made Kraken in 28 inch I would consider it, 32 is too wide where I use it. Keep up the good work, I will for sure test your throttle trick. Most Ariens PRO machines all have hydrostatic drive as the KRAKEN, so I can do that as well.
@@ScottWhalen81 You are almost right about that! The machine I consider buying has electric lift of the whole front,either the WADO 1070 or WADO 1270. Check them out! Really top of the line with the open front bucket as well, less resistance into hard snow. It is a project for next year. To replace my Simplicity at home. They have way better traction than Rapidtrak and much better for scraping hard stuff. 390 cc engines. I understand the fast turn of yours, you sure need to avoid traffic 🙂
@@dagjohnsen no matter the machine, u put downward force on the handles ur lifting the front end, that's not how it works. Unless I'm misunderstanding ur point but the piston on my rapid track does all the work for me. The only thing that makes an Ariens Kraken a "Kraken" is just the variable controls for the piston of the tracks. I love all Ariens but my business allowed me to get this one, so I share the experience.. Rather than the point of the video to show what the machine can do, I get coached more often than about the machine. It's amusing.
I can see you were a contractor by the ramps on the back of your pick up truck. Nice machine! No drift cutters? I noticed the NEOS outer boots you had on. Are they the studded ones or the non studded. I wear the studded boots! Great boots to go with a great machine!
I personally hate the drift cutters & the wing nuts for them. I can get closer to things without the wing nuts & the wing nuts tend to stop the machine when going through the high heavy plow mound at the end of the drive. As for the Cutters themselves, what they cut down falls back "on" the machine & a lot of th time back into the shoot clogging it. I go through high snow, allowing the drift to hang, then I come back knocking it down in various ways, then re-do. I tend to cut a sharper angle in to avoid it "as much" in the future. As for the boots, mine r the Cabelas Dry-Plus with the BOA tie down. The only thing I don't like about any boots like this but I can deal with is the ankles tend to be extremely hard to bend, driving tends to get annoying. However, the BOA is a game changer for me. The trees on these r pretty intense too. Warm & cozy, I can not complain, I treated myself to these after about 2yr or so of research.
@ Point taken. I only put them on after the first snow. I have not experienced the issue you had with them. But I’m not using my snowblower for anything but my own driveway & maybe a neighbors if I know he’s at work. Thanks for your insight. As for the over boots. NEOS are company issued where I work. We get a new pair every few years & I find them to be soo warm I only wear summer boots with them on. The traction is great & with the gaiters up they keep snow out of my boot. I haven’t done any research so I have to defer to you on that.

No clue what a SnowThro is. But this machine I'm using now, throws well beyond what I need. In fact, when I 1st got it, it scared the shit out of me. It grabbed a big rock that I obviously couldn't see & cleared the top of the house into the neighbor's yard. Plus during the storm when I could barely see, I unintentionally buried some of the neighbor's driveway. I cleared it for them, explained, & they paid me anyway even tho I told them its free at 1st lol. Yeah, learned my lesson that this thing can throw.

2.) The client suggested I throw it there long before I even started & this is my 3rd season in with them.
3.) There is a landscaping bed the length of the house that is graded away from the house.
4.) Putting the snow "somewhere" a lot of the time is the "only" option with what is usable at the time & accepted by the client as the job.....
5.) The new driveway edge has not been filled & acting as a temporary drain, still don't need it.
6.) Because I do a BY FAR cleaner job than a Truck Plow..... I get paid more than I requested, & because it's a mom/pop barber shop they offer free haircuts...

How do you know that's not his house? Or the owner gave him permission? Besides, if snow piled up against the foundation floods your basement you have bigger problems.

I was told to do that because the plow shoves it there anyway, as a messy mound they can't move, & they have been doing that for years... My work is BY FAR cleaner, these people pay more than I requested... Also because it's a small business hair shop they offer me free haircuts...
