I don't often get it right but I remember seeing this pitch and not understanding why dragons were intrigued by it. It seemed like a very premium and niche product; I don't know how it could have been anything else.
When peter shows interest first, most others do. After seeing every single episode thus far - this is the pattern. The richest man says its good first? they all follow.
£3.95? Ouch! I'm not sure the chilled route is correct for this product, it needs to be ambient, in a tin, with a very long best before date, and MUCH cheaper.
Seemed great just one glaring issue almost 4x the price for a product that is higher quality and fresh but at the end of the day they are still only beans
Beans come in a tin, they are cheap, have an amazing shelf life, taste great and are very nutritious. This product is none of those things. Very strange that the dragons were so interested!
Peaches come in a can, they were put there by a man in a factory downtown. If I had my way I'd eat peaches every day. Natures candy in my hand, or a can, or a pie.
Googled him, this is on his website unfortunately: UPDATE: Masons Beans stopped trading in May 2016. Despite incredible hype and strong customer demand, we weren’t able to secure the mainstream supermarket listings which are imperative for a fresh product. Thank you so much to everyone that supported us.
Somehow can't believe Nick would have failed to secure listings. Or did the deal not go through? Also if demand were massive, you betcha every shop would have wanted to stock it. Sounds like coming up with bs excuses.
On their website: "UPDATE: Masons Beans stopped trading in May 2016. Despite incredible hype and strong customer demand, we weren’t able to secure the mainstream supermarket listings which are imperative for a fresh product. Thank you so much to everyone that supported us."
How? How did they determine he is good? The only evidence is his sales which are abysmal. They have chewed up other candidates in the past for such projections but this guy seems to have put a spell on them, especially Debbie.
No idea why they all was so excited for that deal. Was just beans and they was all desperate they even was dropping half initial offers. This guy smitten them all because anyone else offering the same wouldn’t of got that response. And proof is in the pudding and never seen this product ever
This is what I don't get or maybe it's my mentality. I'm not going to spend £3.50 on beans for dinner when I get to add on other items. I could go to McDonald's to be more fulfilled than spending money on this.
These sound delicious, wish I had got to try them but it seems they're not for sale anymore? Ben Mason's presentation is one of the best I have ever seen on this programme, the way he answered the questions was very impressive.
If they haven’t changed since the war it’s cos they’re amazing. Having said that I would definitely have wanted to try them! Seems a really nice guy hope he found his niche.
Standard beans are never going to TOUCH the store brands, not today. One of the reasons is it's just labeling and not a different product. You have no chance of getting a flavored bean on the shelves. You can't touch Bush's or Glory in the US.
I make my own flavoured beans. I used tinned, and then add whatever I want. Chilli, fresh garlic, Worcester sauce. It works great and doesn’t cost 3 quid. More like 50p
$4.80 for one serving of beans. And this episode is ancient. Bush's classic: $2/16 oz. tin on Amazon Glory seasoned: $3-6 on Amazon and I know I can get them for $1.99 at the grocery. Today's prices.
Its funny when the dragons lose, they say "its over a tiny" 5% or dont lose it just for a tiney weeney 5%. However When somebody asks for 5% more its massive to them, they have even stated in other episodes that they have had blazing business arguments over 1% in deals.
not competeing with big name brands but they see you at £3.95 and DO want beans with their dinner then go, Heinz in 45P ill walk along 3 ailses.... muppet.
Ah yesssss! Another battle between: the unusually critical Peter Jones, the unusually generous Nick Jenkins, the unusually spacious Touker Suleiman, the unusually Waitrosey Sarah Willingham and, of course, the unusually flatulent Deborah Meaden... 😋😹😁
I'm starting to think how many people go to weight rose or whatever the over priced places are called tbh Adli and Asda even if I was rich I would still go to them stores. Why pay more for the same product when I can get my normal stuff I like for lower price.
Deborah always says when you say something "you didn't mean" you had some meaning... she had to take back a lot of what she said so many times 🤫🤫 she didn't want Touker to get an investment mb 😆

Eat it, Sarah. The customers will be buying it to eat it.
ahahahaha
Lol
Almost four quid for a tub of perishable beans?
Yeah, this is going to be a real success. I don't think so.
It isn’t a bad product but the price point was ridiculous
Exactly what i was thinking almost 4x the price for a product that is higher quality and fresh but at the end of the day they are still only beans
It went bust a year later in 2017
Funny thing is it's very close to the price of a coffee today the way coffee shops are going o.o

This is an older DD. I don't know how old, but I can't see spending 4 quid on a bowl of beans even today.
This was a little absurd.
Sarah - "one of the big boys will come in and bulldoze you into the ground"
Jenny - Ooooh, In that case i'll make you an offer
If you live in London a simple lunch costs about £12 so these beans are a good price.
Far too expensive for beans in a supermarke, not shocked to hear they went bust
