I'm a congenital amputee, i have been training for almost 9 years. I am a purple belt, ever since i was a green belt my coach advised me to start using leandro lo's guard style. I looked him up and saw all his guard playing and saw that his guard style was my answer to my guard getting smashed. All i can say is thank you leandro lo for making my jiu-jitsu get to where it is, thanks to your jiu-jitsu guard game! May you rest in peace.
OSS. Leandro was and always will be a legend in this sport/martial Art. Sad that something so violent happened to someone so young and with still so much to offer.
Had the opportunity to meet Leandro earlier this year. Taught a seminar at my Academy. Lo was very humble and easy going personality. He will be missed but not forgotten....RIP legend 😢
I can’t believe this… I still can’t believe it… Lo was always a go to guy I loved to watch and learn from and I’ve been watching him since I was like 16..
He came to do a Seminar in Las Vegas at Roninjitsu inside of Smash Iron Fitness. Rafael Domingos had him come out and he was super humble, a great guy, and great to be around. A true loss as a person and as an athlete in the sport and Martial art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. RIP Leandro.
The story I heard was that he was at a nightclub or party. Some guy (an off-duty cop) took a bottle from Lo's table. Lo goes up to him and asks for his bottle back. Things escalate and Lo takes him down pretty easily I'd imagine. Lo gets up thinking the fight is over and begins to walk away. The other guy, clearly being a pussy, pulls out a revolver and shoots him in the back of the head
These matches made me sort of lose respect for him because at this point he was trying to just win on points. BJJ is about going for submissions. Sure, they were exciting matches but celebrating wins by advantage or because you score two points is just silly. When Faria actually submitted Lo Bernardo actually celebrated less. Also, the toe hold; Lo should have tapped because they guy was not trying to hurt him and he was caught. In reality the guy could have twisted and ripped through the ankle but didn't. Notice in his last match at heavyweight that when on the back, instead of trying to secure the choke, he just leaves it and celebrates like a fool because he is ahead on points. Lame. Tap someone first and then celebrate. But win all matches with no submissions is not a reason to celebrate.
Why no RIP with maybe b'day and final date at any point in this vid, especially lacking at the end? A real question, not judging you. Ya insecure grappling media company you
@Hugh J. Null it casts a shadow over the match for me personally. I'm hoping the meet again at ADCC. I don't think it will change the outcome all that match too much but still
Rest in Peace, legend!
Flo is doing such a good job at making the history of BJJ accessible. Thank you, Flo!

Legend. One of the best to ever do it
Watching this makes me feel sad. He worked so hard to accomplish his goals and for his life to be taken away is a complete tragedy.
