"One thing I'm good at is getting things done". This video testifies to that truth! You did an excellent job of planning out the many details, capturing the project on video from start to finish, and provided good oral explanations of what you were doing along the way. I'm impressed that you were able to do this by yourself but you demonstrated that it can be done...therefore the "DIY" in your channel name. P.S. I also love how your son also had some hands-on involvement. Well done! :)

Nice design and execution. Impressive to do it all yourself, too. The video itself is helpful!

I love this. Looking for something similar for my pergola deck. Wondering about water drainage and how it holds up in climates with snow. 2 feet at times. Are there gutters/downspouts?

If you have snow in your area, I recommend a bigger pitch. I followed the manufacturer's recommendation for my area, which is 4% or 1" every 24". It doesn't snow in Houston, so I didn't have to worry about that situation. My install is an Apollo roofing system, but if you are having to deal with snow, then I would recommend the Hercules system from this company. The Hercules System is more durable than the Apollo System and can handle up to 40 pounds per square foot (psf) of snow on a structure with the correct slope and rafter spacing.

Curious, why not joist hooks? Why u relied on screws only?

I ended up installing joist hangers on a couple of areas only, not the entire area. I used structural screws for the majority of the areas. My engineer buddy recommended the structural screws in lieu of the joist hangers. Joist hangers are just an overkill, especially if the deck is low to the ground like mine. If it were at least 2' off the ground, I would have used joist hangers. That is if the code required them in my area. It's just case by case situation and following local code.

Hello. I purchased it locally and it’s around $450-$500 a piece. Each piece is 6’x15’. They also sell 4’ pieces as well. The size can ordered to your roof cover needs. My pergola is 18’ long so ordered 3 pieces at 6’ wide.
