DIY Closet French Doors | You Can Build This
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Hey everyone! In this video I'll be showing you how I built my closet french doors from start to finish. The size of my opening is 30"x80" and I'll be custom building them since I don't have the room to install a swinging door or sliding door. The only other options I have are bi-fold doors or french doors. I decided the french door was the best option for me. I ended up spending around $200 on...

DIY LVL Beam Install / How I Installed a New Beam for a Kitchen Remodel
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.Год назад
Hello, everyone!! In this video I will show you how I installed a 12' LVL beam to remove a load bearing wall to support my new kitchen space. This is for Phase 2 of my home renovation. I ended up using a microllam LVL beam for an 11' span. This was engineered by a third party, but I honestly feel I probably could've used (2) 2x12s since there wasn't a direct load on top, only ceiling joists res...

DIY Garage Mobile Workbench / Miter and Table Saw / How I Built In 10 Steps
how did u anchor your miter saw? super video!!
building this exact table this weekend. only thing i have to adjust for is I have the larger 10" table saw. Also want to leave room for a slide out planer tray on the bottom
I like your method best. Simple is also easy when you have to repair
This is absolutely fantastic. There were a few bits of missing info, ie, how you framed for the miter saw. I wish you had written drawings/instructions so a beginner like me could more easily follow.
got 10 mins then got tired of hitting my volume button to adjust blaring music with barely audible vocal. Do yourself a favor. Leave the music out. Most people do, and it is perfectly ok.
Love this setup will definitely be trying to make this
WoodPrix includes very useful instructions with all details I need
I'm pretty sure the best instruction is on WoodPrix.
Nice build I’m looking to build something similar just a little bigger but very nice job 👍🏽
Why didn’t you remove the flooring and subfloor and attach the pony wall right to the floor joists? This would have allowed the pony wall to be even more secure and the entire structure would have looked as if it had always been there. The flooring is never supposed to run under any cabinets or island. If someone wants to change the flooring at some point in the future. They have to either remove all the cabinets or cut the flooring and leave the old flooring under the cabinets and island.
Good point, but it’s preference at that point. It all depends on subfloor, structure and finish materials. Flooring does run under cabinets in some instances. Not all the time but it does. Yes you’re right, you will have to cut the flooring around all the cabinets if you want to replace it, but the likelihood of someone doing that is not worth it. I would not go directly to joists, subfloor would do just fine, but I just went over the flooring. Again it’s preference and up to you what plans you have for your flooring in the future. 👍🏼 If I had tile, I would have removed it first. That’s just a no brainer. That’s just my opinion on it and it’s been holding up very well.
Good Job
I have a question about the miter saw area measurements. When the MS is underneath, the table top will be flush. But when the MS is up there is a 1/4" difference. Why is this important? You did not explain and i don't understand why.
I bought excellent e-book from WoodPrix.
What if you don't have large enough access to get a beam that large fed into the attic? Do you just shore up with temporary walls and remove the existing wall ant then feed the beam up from underneath?
Yup. Exactly like that. It’s another way it can be done that way too. You’ll slide the beam from below, temporarily shore it and then installed the posts.
@@jbuildsdiy, cool, thank you!
Might also be helpful to cut a hole under the table saw to catch sawdust then put a bucket underneath to remove it when it gets full.
Wow. Well done. Thought the framing was a bit elaborate for a workbench though. Still trying to figure out why? I’m the same way, though. I got myself bogged down sometimes on the job and I had a boss woh would come along and go, “we’re not building a piano here…”
Nice design and I am building it now with some mods. Question on the table top, why not just set it on and clamp it, trace the underneath side, then remove and cut out the pieces? This would save a lot of time trying to make sure you have an accurate measurements. Updated: I did use a combination of both methods. I am doing a table saw, flip-top miter saw and flip-top planer. I traced the underside of the flip tops and measured the table saw area. My table saw had several offset cuts to due a newer model than what was shown in the video.
@jbuildsdiy thanks for the lesson. Fully explained and simple enough for me to understand
Excellent video that anyone should be able to understand! Best video series so far with very clear instructions! I appreciate and thank you for sharing your wonderful and professional experience with all of us and keep up the good work plus the nice videos you are providing! By the way, what's your location!
How much 2x4 did you buy
Amazing job especially all by yourself! The whole place looks amazing.
Awesome build! Is there a way to get the plans for this?
Love this setup!
Great job. I really like the order in which you added the bottom and saw platform. I’ve watched several of these builds and this was the smoothest I’ve seen.
What were the dimensions of the piece you cut out for the miter saw?
I'm a woman and am 5'4" how tall are you, so i can subtract accordingly?
I would make your height 36”. That’s the height if countertops. 👍🏼
Did anyone ever end up with the plans for this build?
Curious, why not joist hooks? Why u relied on screws only?
I ended up installing joist hangers on a couple of areas only, not the entire area. I used structural screws for the majority of the areas. My engineer buddy recommended the structural screws in lieu of the joist hangers. Joist hangers are just an overkill, especially if the deck is low to the ground like mine. If it were at least 2' off the ground, I would have used joist hangers. That is if the code required them in my area. It's just case by case situation and following local code.
I love this. Looking for something similar for my pergola deck. Wondering about water drainage and how it holds up in climates with snow. 2 feet at times. Are there gutters/downspouts?
If you have snow in your area, I recommend a bigger pitch. I followed the manufacturer's recommendation for my area, which is 4% or 1" every 24". It doesn't snow in Houston, so I didn't have to worry about that situation. My install is an Apollo roofing system, but if you are having to deal with snow, then I would recommend the Hercules system from this company. The Hercules System is more durable than the Apollo System and can handle up to 40 pounds per square foot (psf) of snow on a structure with the correct slope and rafter spacing.
this is what i will be making this fall when it cools down here in AZ... looks exactly like i was wanting. i just dont have a plainer to smooth things out..
Very nice design. I would recommend putting some diagonal bracing on it though, to prevent the bench from racking/moving over time. That would greatly improve the longevity of the bench.
Hi Jamie, Love this plan how can I get a copy of them?
Can i get the plan to
i am interested in the price of the roof cover
Hello. I purchased it locally and it’s around $450-$500 a piece. Each piece is 6’x15’. They also sell 4’ pieces as well. The size can ordered to your roof cover needs. My pergola is 18’ long so ordered 3 pieces at 6’ wide.
Simple, functional, I like this. Great job man! 👍
What app or website did you use to design your add on which you shown as 3d modeling
It’s SketchUp. 👍🏼
Can you show the calculations or the formula you used to determine where to put the bolts for the miter flip top?
Could I get the plans?
I've been looking for a video on just this topic - how to remove cedar siding with the goal of putting it back after adding a moisture barrier etc. I will give your method a shot. Thank you.
Good Stuff, thx for posting this, am about to add a new entry door to out place, this vid covers most of my questions on how to approach.
I have watched quite a few of these builds and this one is by far the most practical, and looks amazing too, love the content mate, keep it coming! a follow from me 100% - keen to get started on this very build myself in a few weeks!
what are the measurements for where to drill the hole pivot point for the miter saw mount? Would you be able to explain that?
I want to build something just like this so it was really helpful seeing your build. I love the flip miter saw section. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your build. I can definitely identify with your space issues. I have use of one side of a two car garage, so the ability to easily move equipment is vital for me. I enjoyed the way you included your thought processes while moving along with the build. Thanks again and keep building and filming!
Just a little constructive criticism you should face the camera. A little humor is good. The bench idea was good I’d like to try it out.
Your bench is great, exactly what I have been looking for. Do you have plans that I can download. Thank You Jon
Nice design and execution. Impressive to do it all yourself, too. The video itself is helpful!
@jbuildsdiy any idea what the clearance needed to flip that saw? I have the same saw was curious since you never showed the saw mounted. Thx
Did you figure this out? Just bought all my supplies yesterday to start this. I think I have the same model looking at it.
This is exactly what I'm looking to do with a miter saw station I want to build. How is it holding up with the lag bolts? I've seen other videos and people used 1" pipe for the spin factor. Overkill? Anything you would do differently now after using it for a while?
Such a great video to following alone with. Especially for beginners like me
Does anybody want to share the plans with me? I reached out on instagram but he is a busy man and I have not heard back. Please and thank you!
Hey Jason, let me know if you got them. Not sure if I missed your email. Please shoot me another email if you didn’t receive them.
@@jbuildsdiy Jay- Please help me out! How do I get these plans from ya, I am not seeing an e-mail address anywhere.
I need the plans & measurements. Would you kindly share them?
