I've been looking for a video on just this topic - how to remove cedar siding with the goal of putting it back after adding a moisture barrier etc. I will give your method a shot. Thank you.
If the fire starts in leaf debris behind the siding, up by the attic and extends into the attic, the home will likely burn to the ground.. Maybe better to use a compact hacksaw blade holder so the blade can be inserted behind the siding. The is as fast or faster than the oscillating blade and does not produce sparks. Use wood shims to open the bottom edge of the siding board. These can be hammered in pretty far without damaging the siding and provide ample space for the hacksaw blade. Make sure the blade is mounted in the right direction.

I’m doing this exact same thing in the future. Will be following.
Well done video
If the oscillating blade produces sparks, this can be a fire hazard.
Agreed. I did have a fire extinguisher near by and I recommend fire watching for an hour after use.

Is it just me or is there no insulation in those walls? Kind of like mine!
No insulation in this old home. But I added it in this area. 👍🏼
