I just want to thank everyone for their lovely comments and support on the channel. If I don't get round to answering your comment please forgive me! There are too many to get to at the moment, but I'll make sure I answer comments of all channel members - and now I must get working on the next video! Happy painting everyone!
Diane, I just finished painting your chickadees with autumn leaves. I painted with you and found it so relaxing. I ended up inking around the leaves because mine needed more form. Thank you for the sketches you make available to us! Blessings 💕
Love the loose oak leaves. And the card with the background circles and small bird on the inside page. I do a lot of cards just for practice, and I will be doing this, too.
Having only gone back to painting last year and never using watercolour before I am quickly learning that the paper is so important. I am learning so much from you Diane so thank you so much ❤❤
Hi Linda and welcome to the world of watercolor! Yes, paper is very important for your watercolor painting, the only problem is that there is so much choice nowadays it’s almost impossible to say what is a good make to use. I think I would recommend Bockingford and Etival as my favorite beginners paper. I hardly ever use Arches because I find it intimidating!!! Even though I’ve got oodles of it. Bad habit to save it for future use as it eventually goes bad.
So very nice, lots of birds. I was a bit sad because the video was not very clear. So lovely having the birds in the Oak tree. It's really nice looking at your video's as you paint, and everyone who does that hasn't got something better to do.
Absolutely wonderful…love the autumn colours & chickadees…it is one bird that stays here for the winter ..amazing since it is such a small bird..about 1oz..there is a park close by where they will eat out of your hand…lovely🇨🇦💗
Hi Diane, I really enjoyed watching you paint this one. the colouring on the oak leaves was impressive, must give that a try. Glad you did not spatter on this one - the picture had everything already. Look forward to seeing what you pain next.
Thanks so much for your lovely comment, I really appreciate it! You're right about the spatter! I have a painting coming up soon that absolutely HAD to have splatter though!
I just finished watching your latest Chickadee tutorial and it was so lovely that it inspired me to watch this one again. What a lovely autumn painting this is and one I'll need to remember for Thanksgiving cards. I love acorns and oak leaves, and of course birds! Your colors are so rich and beautiful! Thank you Diane. - PS - Is that sweet Lottie at the end of this video?
Yummy and so appropriate for where I live (Minnesota, USA). My water brush and I are not getting along so well (I’m currently working on the Autumn Garland and I have gone back to my paint brushes) but I will give it another try for this one😉
Thanks so much for your lovely comment, I really appreciate it! I don't think all waterbrushes are created equal - I think I lucked out with the Kuretake one just by chance!
Diane, do you have Barrett's Esophagus? There is medication that will help and the coughing may stop. Great save with the gouache. I love the many different birds you do. The more we do the better I get. You always challenge us but remember we are still learning. Hopefully one of these days mine will be as spontaneous as your are. Thank you for a great watercolor lesson!
I love my black cap chickadees and mountain chickadees, excited to paint this. Hey where did you get your porcelain cups? I couldn’t find them in the description, probably didn’t look well enough!
Thanks so much for your kind words, so glad you are enjoying the videos ! There should be a link to the little cups (or something similar) here amzn.to/3AEmSLw
I am suffering from PTSD after a brutal marriage, and have returned to watercolour painting in an effort to distract my troubling thoughts. I took in-person lessons several years ago from an amazing woman, so kind and patient with me. But it’s as though my memory of all I learned has been wiped away, and getting back to it is hard, and I admit I’m having trouble doing simple tutorials, but I hope if I persist, my painting will improve. You make it look so easy, but I understand you are a professional with years of experience. Is there a particular tutorial you would recommend to me that I can work on?
Hi Patty, I’m sorry to hear about your stressful situation, and I hope that returning to watercolor will give you solace. There’s more than one way to get back into painting, but I see that you are interested in painting birds. I would suggest therefore that you go to our playlist entitled “Paint a Bird a Day” which you will find if you follow this link. ruclips.net/p/PLVksoedXAAmeSgLelqRDOIMKgMfZy7X0g. The birds are whimsical and easy to do. I always recommend that if you are trying to remember and learn, it’s best to pick one subject (for example birds) and paint lots of them. If you work through the tutorials in this playlist you’ll learn loads of techniques you can use to paint anything, and you’ll have a lot of relaxing fun too. Why not give it a try! Good luck and happy painting!
I have a bit of neuropathy in my hands and legs/feet. My hands jump often. Thankfully it doesn't happen constantly. But, it does take extra effort on some days to control my brushes.
I have tried to purchase the chickadee print and it won’t allow me to put in my card information and it wants me to create an account. I put in my email and it wants a password and I’m not seeing a field for it. Help please. Thank you

I understand. I don't expect you to.

Thanks Susan, so glad you like this! Hope you enjoy doing the card - it was quite fun! Lots of possibilities there!
Your seemingly casual way of painting eludes me. I always get too nit picky. I shall continue to try. Thank you for all you do.

I make veins with an old credit card cut in half.
Yes I use an old IKEA card for that! The best thing to do with an IKEA card!
