I SO appreciate that you made this video! I am personally extremely encouraged by what you shared! More than you could ever imagine! I have really struggled with getting SO far behind with having health issues, lack of energy and then motivation…that is So needed to take on organizing and categorizing what needs to be sorted! ❤

Katherine, I can completely understand and empathize with that! It helps me to just do one little area at a time-a drawer, a shelf, etc. Sometimes it’s also fun to set a timer for say, 10-15 minutes and do all you can to tidy up in that time limit…you get to racing the timer and challenging yourself to finish. I don’t know if that will help you, but just do what you are able, rest as needed and give yourself plenty of grace! ❤️blessings to you.

It's actually gratifying to see that every room in your house is not picture perfect and that you have some of the same disorganized spaces that we all have. And it's inspiring to watch you tackle those spaces with shelving that looks fairly easy to put together and doesn't cost an arm & a leg. It makes me feel that cleaning up & organizing my disaster of a basement is possible and that I better get to it. Thanks for the push to get going on it!!

I could never judge you or anyone for a cluttered space because I have had such spaces in my own home. I'm pretty sure most of us have had such a space at one time or another. May God continue to bless you and your family.

You wanted comments, I've learned from professional organizers thst the way we can keep a space organized is by putting likes with likes ( cups with cups, cans with cans, panta with pants) to give it a designated permanent home. That way even in the dark you can find it because it's it's home. Another thing I've learned is to periodically revise the space by purging. If I buy something, I have to really, really need it or really, really like it. And when I bring it home, I have to get rid of something to replace with the new item. Another words substitute not add if it makes sense. I'm applying these principles and is working. Hope it works for you. Thank you for sharing your life with is. I admire you and learn a lot from you also.

I’d put the pillows on the top shelf because they are so light. Then you’d have more useable shelves for the heavier items below. Yes, we called it the fruit room.. my parents had a huge cabinet in the basement where my mother stored her home canned fruits and veggies along with her unused canning equipment and supplies. It was always full. I remember she’d ask us to run down and get a jar of beans or raspberry sauce. My favorite was the raspberry sauce which I still make to this day. I don’t can it, just eat it. She had peaches, pears, plums, apricots, blueberries. That’s when you could buy a crate of fruit for $2.00 so it was economical to can. We had a huge garden and grew our own vegetables and raspberries. She’d also make different kinds of jams and jellies and syrups. She was a marvelous cook and a wonderful mother, an overall kind and gentle woman.

Everyone I know {Utah} calls those rooms a "cold storage room". And, if someone is building a home they put it in the basement level under the front porch area so all the walls are concrete, no windows, just a small vent for air circulation {covered by a mesh so bugs don't get in}. I go to Parade of Homes Shows all the time all around the state and that's what the builders call them also. Thank you, I love your videos!

When I was growing up, we had a "fruit cellar" under our front porch that naturally maintained a consistent temperature of about 50-55degrees. My Mother stored all her canned fruits and vegetables, as well as a couple bushels of Northern Spy apples in the Fall, as they would stay cool and fresh for her wonderful apple pies.

My basement is now two rooms. A home gym took over the garage area and laundry room and I put a wall up between that and the food area. I needed to keep the food area secure as well as the stairs to the upper floor that was accessible from the garage. Nerve racking worrying about anyone getting in the house from the basement. Now my food is secure. Your basement area is about the size of my food area. I’m a prepper. There’s about 4 years of food down there. The attic has the storage for my excess stuff.

Hi Mary, we have an entirely different culture over here in Australia. The younger people tend not to store nor recycle as in donate. They just dump stuff. I try not to hoard and will donate. I do however love antiques and like you, are nostalgic and have had to train myself not to buy unless I 'need'. No 'wants' involved. Although I have a 5 bedroom home I still don't have enough room for storage. Do you have mice plagues over there? We do over winters. Consequently, we can't store things like our camping equipment in the garage. Lucky there is only the two of us, so I stash that kind of thing in the wardrobes. I really enjoy watching you exploits. Oh, I keep my collection of kero lamps on to of my fridge. They are more for decoration as I haven't used any of them for nearly 20 years. Keep up the good work and stay safe

I love your videos, from trash to treasure to organizing like this one! Growing up, we called your fruit room the "coma". I'm not even sure what it means, I grew up speaking Low German. (Susie)

I enjoyed this video. You gave me a bit of a kick to clean up/organize a room in my home along with a store room just off our garage. I call them, "My Disasters" As always your videos are always wonderful and motivational for me.

I think all of us have one of these spaces. I have decor I rotate so totally understand. I finally organized it but watching this, I know I need to get in there and clean it up a bit.

We always had a fruit room downstairs where mom kept the vegetables and fruit she canned along with other food sttorage so I’ve always had one too. Now there is just the two of us, the shelves hold more large serving dishes. I need to sort thru that now and put more canned items. It’s nice to have in an emergency. Your basement looks great! I’ll bet you do love to walk in there. Upstairs looks organized even though you have a lot of stuff!!

We can all relate. You’re human just like the rest of us. Love your videos. I had a room just like that. I put on organizing videos to listen to for motivation and started to clean it out. I was happy with myself.

I loved watching you organize your space. Most everyone can benefit from encouragement to tackle our own spaces, and even the ideas you give on organizing it all.

The rope on the picture holder is cute, but some people live in a more minimalist styled home, but still like to have that pretty smooth wood effect. Maybe drill in the back some holes to hang it up on the wall would be cute too. just a thought. I loved this organizing video. Can not wait to see your canning videos coming up later in the year. Just do what you do, because we thoroughly enjoy it.

Always interested in organizing and decluttering videos. I have similar shelves that I bought at Walmart unfortunately, I placed heavy ceramic pieces on the top shelf and one day the entire shelving unit came crashing down. So maybe that was the universe's way of telling me to declutter. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mary TFS love your new project with the rope hanger.
I am so encouraged by this video because I’ve let my craft room pile up so that it’s not usable and I now feel like a hoarder. So you’ve encouraged me to get some shelves and get organized again.
Blessings and much love from California. ❤

It is so gratifying to see the before and after picture of your room organizing. I wish I had taken pictures of my own “before’s” so I can appreciate the “afters” of my own organizing! But that would add clutter to my cloud storage! 😂I totally agree with the addition of those shelves that snap together. Affordable and helpful. I actually prefer the new hanging art without the rope as I think it might be awkward looking unless one has relatively high ceilings. I’d have liked to see them hung, I guess, rather than being held up. They are so attractive!

I LOVE organizing and decluttering videos. I clean homes and help people organize and declutter as well. It’s good for the soul. Moving items to different places in the home to organize is a great way to take inventory of what we have. Weed out things we no longer use. I do this seasonally. A bin fan myself. Containment of like items is always a good thing. Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait until you share any canning!
