Als tweede stuk speel ik de Toccata in F-dur (BWV 540) van J.S. Bach.
Er zijn wat mooie shots genomen van het voetenwerk.
Je kunt een kleine hapering horen in de tweede voetpedaal solo, want ik kwam een pedaal tekort, sorry...maar verder toch wel een mooi filmpje van één van de mooiste orgels van Nederland.
Met dank aan de organist Christiaan Ingelse die het registreerde en aan de man die het organiseerde en het camerawerk voor zijn rekening nam, Bedankt, John!

Ok, right now I don't know who I love more; Bach for writing, Gert for playing or Moreau for this beautiful instrument.
Well, I turned 78 today, July 20, 2019, and just discovered your videos of performances today - what a wonderful birthday present! I am grateful that in today's world, such instruments as these exist, there are cathedrals and churches in which to play them, and such a fine and incredibly gifted young artist such as yourself to bring us such magnificent music. Thank you.

What a wonderful birthday present for you to spend an hour playing this great organ in Gouda! The sound of the organ is especially good for the large works of Bach.
The Rheinberger Cantilene sounded very nice also. I hope you plan to put more on You Tube from this hour of playing.
What a wonderful performance! This young man knows what he is doing. I've been struggling with this composition and...."it ain't easy".

This was the best version I ever heard! The registration was impeccable! It was very filling and think, as this Toccata should be! Bravo from Oregon!
for me, the 540 is the single most difficult composition in the bach literature, and this young man breezes through it... with GUSTO... truly a magnificent performance!!!

i found him playing it "improved" at age 21, on you tube "concert at victoria hall"
his first piece there. marvellous, such a talented born musician, heart and soul.

Wonderful! According to Gert's website, the occasion to play on this famous organ was offered to him as a gift for this 16 th birthday! Tht's what it means to live in a truly civilized country such as the Netherlands. If he had been a US teenager, he would have been gifted a car , or a video game instead
Excellent. I think this is my favorite Bach Toccata. One of my organ teachers told me he heard "baptism" throughout the piece particularly beginning about 4:09 - down into the water; up out of the water.

Slechts twee jaar orgelles heeft Gert nodig gehad om dit hondsmoeilijke stuk van Bach zo te kunnen spelen. Daar staat mijn verstand bij stil. Wat een enthousiasme en drive. Heerlijk om naar te kijken en luisteren.

+rittervoneschenbach I was in Bavaria in May, 1985, when I was 15. I did not know that Bach would have been 300. I still have the box of CD's bought in Mittenwald. CD's Einzeln DM 37. I still have that box and the CD's. Edition Leipzig. I don't know why it was not discarded after 31 years.

If I could have even thought of tackling this work at 16 years old. This piece was a challenge for me at almost twice his age.

Sixteen years old... you know what? when I was as old as you, I just knew how to play the _tee-doo-dee tee-doo-dee-doo-deee daaaa_ from BWV 565.

I don't know what there is to not like about this. 35 people have given it the thumbs down so far. 284 like it, So that's about 8 to 9% noise in the channel. No biggy! Given your age -- well no, I won't patronise you! -- at any age that is an achievement. I can't play that, and it's not for want of trying. It's an extremely difficult piece. There were some wrong notes, but not that many. I think that all you can do now is play it a lot, and play it on different organs, record it and listen to the recordings, listen to what people say, (except for me, I know nothing about this particular piece as far as playing is concerned! But I did enjoy it). And just keep going. :)

Those down votes and the critical posts in this comments section are made by the people Virgil Fox used to describe as having so little talent that they could not get into the “House of Music” any other way. He made no bones about it and he was right. We are listening to tremendous God given talent here that should be encouraged not denigrated.

If no one tells him what needs improvement, how is he ever going to progress and achieve greatness ? (cause honestly, with the promise he is showing, it would be a total shame to not achieve greatness and worldwide renoun)

Prachtig (o, die heeft kokkieamiga al gebruikt, nouja haha) Nee, maar echt waar ik vind het sowieso een schitterende toccata, maar met de klanken van het orgel, en de manier waarop je jou even los ziet gaan, ik vind hem echt helemaal te gek! Jij hebt me toch een dosis talent van Hem gekregen, onvoorstelbaar!

Ik denk dat u de Franse/Griekse film Phaedra (1962) bedoelt. Het is Anthony Perkins die op grote snelheid een smalle kustweg afrijdt in zijn Aston Martin. Hij draait de radio aan, de Toccata speelt; hij zegt tegen de auto, "Bach -- nothing but the best for you, old girl," rijdt sneller en sneller; dan komt een grote vrachtauto hem tegemoet.

Dear Gert; when you're 40 you will hear this great work in an entirely different way. This work, when I first heard it played by Fernando Germani, changed my entire life. I'm sure your wrists were in great pain playing that with all those manuals linked!? That was a real job to get through to the end. Great work, you are very talented and I'm sure the tempo will sort itself out in time. We all race our toccatas- Widor 5 is the worst for that.

Zou je niet eens willen spelen op het orgel in de Oude Kerk van Delft, een Batz orgel. Mijn vader speelde daar als organist in de jaren 60, t/m 90 en had ook elk jaar een concert daar.

I don't think there is anything this kid can't do!
Je loopt een bijna verwaarloosbaar beetje, en inderdaad een paar haperingen, maar voor je leeftijd speel je echt wel heel knap! Ook heel mooi orgel, de klank is prachtig!
I hoop dat je in je latere studies nog veel openbloeit! (Net zoals ik moet doen ^^)

Have you or did you accelerate at bar 176 and at the end the pedal line becomes masked and thus should you not add some upperwork to the pedal !
Prachtig gespeeld, maar ik geloof dat dit stuk je wat beter af zou gaan als je het wat langzamer speelt. Heel mooi uitgevoerd en ik zou het zeker niet kunnen nadoen!
