- This year's festive ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL episode premieres in the UK at 9pm tonight on Channel 5, and streaming on My5.
In this clip, we see James Herriot and evacuee Eva Feldman pay a visit to Mrs Pumphrey, after she calls for help with a kitten.
We return to The Dales a couple of months on from where Season 3 concluded. It’s Christmas in Darrowby and everyone is trying to make the most of things while the world is at war.

This show is the BEST!
I love Patricia Hodge (have for eons) and this new young actress in the series. It's a great way to change things up to include the war's affect on their lives and add another young person to the cast, alongside the marvelous Imogen Clawson as Jenny.

Sweets were strictly rationed, that was actually very kind of Mrs P. There's a fun clip from Dad's Army when the platoon discover a prewar vending machine still loaded with bars of chocolate. But they haven't got any coins to work it. Walker soon sorts that out with a bit of sleight of hand and Mainwaring insists the bars be distributed fairly. Sadly only the first bar is real, the rest are cardboard replicas. The real one had gone to Fraser who quickly gobbles it, to everyone's dismay. Rationing was strict and some items were rationed into the early 1950s. This is brought out quite often in the DA series, as is Walker's under the counter trading.
Lovely cast. Can't wait for Season 3 👀
