This is a very difficult piece for guitar. The song is in Ab major with chords Fmin, Db and Eb to play through. Demanding stretches for fingers in 1st position. The intro has two simultaneous rifts played on keyboards with vocals later. Difficult to get the original score, the one I could find that’s notated for orchestra has been transposed to Gmaj which is a semitone down from the original. Well done to Matt Rudd for a beautiful interpretation of this classic tribute song to Marvin Gaye and Jacki Wilson, giants of Motown R&B. Note the lyrics...references, “What’s going on?” and “Higher and higher”🤔. Beautiful, clean Strat tones emulating the human voice, heartbreakingly sad😢. Such rigorous, disciplined guitar work. Beautiful tribute.👍👏 THANKS MARK RUDD.
Wow! Thank you so much. I really appreciate the time you took to reach out and share such beautiful words of encouragement. I'm ecstatic that you enjoyed my rendition of one of my all-time favourite songs. :D
The song is so beautiful and smooth and you sir nailed it. The pacing was spot on. You let the notes do the playing, what I mean is that you didn’t add anything or try to make it sound any different. Great job sir my hats off to you.
Beautiful expressive guitar playing. Shimmering, classic Fender clean tones. You made that melody heartbreakingly sad with your Stratocaster. Looks like an American Special Stratocaster with the large, sustaining headstock or perhaps a 50s Strat? That’s the style, that’s the way, coaxing a difficult instrument to sing👏👏
I found this score for orchestra but it’s in Gmajor, so each note will have to be played a semitone higher OR 1/2 step up eg G>>Ab (G#) and so on. The original is actually in Ab major, a difficult key for guitar players but Matt’s done a fantastic job here. 👏👍 assets.optomus.com/documents/Music%20Scores/Commodores%20-%20Nightshift%20(2).pdf
