My first float was a porcupine quill float. I was about ten years old. Sadly it went the way of a lot of my floats, in an overhanging willow tree. I still mourn its loss 63 years later, ✌❤ Bob
I, too, love a porcupine quill float. If I had to pick one float to use for the rest of my Angling days, it would be a porcupine quill. On the bright side, you now have the opportunity to recreate that float and relive your youth... but mind that tree! 🤣 👍🎣👍
Great video once again! Thanks for the advice. As for the word gentles. This is what I discovered The term "gentles" comes from the "Middle English" period. French (Gentil) and Latin (Gentilis) both made up a much larger proportion of our language at the time (don't know which language directly influenced the naming?). The term gentles came before maggots. Maggots Gentles were described as "soft, easily yielding to pressure", hence, gentle(s). The term gentle has always meant the same, as in, to treat softly, easily damaged etc...
A great series of videos and I really appreciate the information on the products you use Just one question you don’t seem to have covered though you suggest using NCP thread but I would really like to know what make and what size ( A or D ) thread you use.
Hi there. Thanks for the kind words and support. I tend to use D thread as this is a bit stronger. Although to be perfectly honest, I just go for any thread that takes my fancy. The NCP means that the colour won't change too much when you varnish. If you're not that bothered by the darkening when varnish is applied, you can use any thread. I also go for nylon threads as cotton threads can be a bit fluffy. There are all sorts of silk threads, but these are a bit too fancy for my tastes! 🤣 Hope that helps? Tight lines. Andy.
Hi. Yes. The Revell paint is oil based. I like the colour and finish. I've never got on with acrylic paint and much prefer the enamel type. But, that's just my opinion. 😁🎣👍
Really enjoyed this video. Very well presented thanks. I shall have a go myself😀
@@craken1811 Thank you. The aim of the films is to encourage people to "have a go"
