      Where I live Accessible charging spots are priority but you are allowed to use them. If disabled badge holder shows up you are to move. ICing in general needs more fines and should be triple fine for disabled

      When there is only 2 charging spots and 1 is handicap, I wouldn’t expect non-handicapped to cue up on only one spot for charging. Use it and if a placard car shows, move. Agreed about ICE car parking there, pretty shitty.

      Accessible parking spots make sense for those that need a shorter physical distance to transport themselves. But Accessible charging spots? Why can’t they wait like everyone else?

    I cannot believe that the Lucid won't do lane centreing without mapping. My 5 year old cheap chinese suv (MG) does this on any highway, and most straight roads. As for efficiency, that is great at 85mph, you cannot escape the speed squared law regarding energy used! It's physics...

    For the night drive Jordan can just do a time-lapse for your drive and some royalty free music over the top as Taylor Swift isn't royalty free unfortunately probably not for another 300yrs+ or so anyway. Good to see you again on another road trip video. :)

    I watched the whole video and love the road trip content. BUT, how many people that can afford a lucid is camping in it lol. It would be cool to see a sub 50k car on a camp test. You all have inspired me to do ev road trips, about 9k miles now. Please don't ever stop roadtrips!

    1:00 on a 3 hour trip the difference in arrival time between going 75 mph to 80 mph is only 15 minutes. 4 hours of travel versus 3 hours and 45 minutes if however, that 80 mph uses a lot more consumption to the point that you now need to add a charging stop you’ve lost any time savings and you’re most likely better off doing the entire drive at 75 mph.

    I stopped at this exact Starbucks earlier this year on a trip up 97, I remember it being weird to get into as well. Didn't charge there ('15 Volt), but was pleasantly surprised to see charging available.

    I figure an ideal road trip is 3-4 hours, stop to eat, run 3-4 hours, stop to eat, run a couple more hours to a hotel with L2 charging. The range of the Lucid means you get to pick where you stop more than the car gets to pick. A good road trip allows a stop between food stops for fluid pressure management.
    As for stop and go traffic, my Mach-E handles that well. It will auto-resume unless the stop is longer than 5 minutes. (And it will tell you about it when the time runs out.)

    “Why is Lucid not class leading charging?” - The class leaders (Taycan, EGMP) here use “pouch” cells, Lucid uses cylindrical. Tesla claimed to achieve pouch-like performance with Cylindrical 4680 cells, but sadly that has not been observed in anything they’ve actually shipped with those cells.

    If the port doesn’t close when there is a charging error you then get the car confused and it throws a fault about the charging door not having closed. At the 1:19:56 mark I’ve seen that error and you have to bounce around until the car finds a charger it likes, also your app might think you are at a different charging location than you currently are at.

    You asked about interesting things you saw on a road trip. On the road between Nashville and Bowling Green, if you get off the highway and take a side road you get a really twisty road through farms, and you can see a huge literal fork in the road, a gigantic knife, and a gigantic spoon roadside attraction along the way.

    1:06:03 This is exactly why I used to pushed back on the Tesla group think of "cylindrical cells are better!" All the best, fastest charging EVs -- especially in terms of average charge rate across the charging profile -- use pouch cells. That is not a coincidence. This is the consequence of received opinions.

    I heard Lucid chose not to allow access to the trunk from inside the cabin to prevent the smash and grab degenerates from getting into the trunk. I think it makes sense.

      No warranty will cover a cracked windshield unless you can prove it was a manufacturing defect, which you never will. Cracked windshield is almost certainly due to a rock impact, which is damage. No car warranty covers damage, nor should it.

    ADAS not as fast or as safe as me when driving and paying attention. How much cheaper would the car be without any of this tech. Cheaper to insure and fix in a collision. Cannonball record with fsd will rival a human? I doubt it.

    I’m lucky to live in the PNW. While the scenery isn’t quite as good as the Rockies, the drive through the Cascades (like Snoqualmie pass) is still really beautiful, and it’s super interesting to go from the forests west of the cascades to the high desert east of the cascades. We also have the benefit of having a relatively short drive from the Cascade mountain range to the coastal mountain range and then to the Pacific Ocean. You can go from the Pacific Ocean, to dense forest to mountains to high desert in about 5-6 hours of driving.
    If you guys ever do the drive from Denver to Seattle again (or opposite direction), you should do a slight diversion to visit Leavenworth. It’s a Bavarian-themed town up in the cascades and a cool place to stop for a day or at least a few hours. There is an EA charging station and a few others in the area as well, if that matters to you.
    The northern parts of central and eastern Oregon have some really large scale dairy farms, maybe that’s what you were smelling. Along I84 tends to smell like a cow’s backside quite often.
    Wildfires are the new normal in the PNW unfortunately due to climate change. We get basically *no* rain throughout the entire summer, which is not normal for us. So, it rains almost continuously for most of the winter and a lot of fall and spring, so lots of vegetation grows, then we get no rain all summer and all that vegetation turns into flash powder. We used to get small fires during the summer and maybe 1 major fire every year of 2. Now we get several major fires every year, and wildfire smoke blankets the area most of the summer.
    My partner has a 2018 Model S 75D. It’s a nice car, the efficiency of the Lucid absolutely destroys the Model S, even the new ones. The hatchback on the Model S makes it substantially more functional than any typical sedan. It’s really a bummer that Tesla didn’t put a hatchback on the Model 3 and Lucid didn’t do it on the Air.
    I regularly camp in my EV9. It’s too big of a car for daily driving but it’s nice for camping. An ID Buzz would probably be better for car camping, but the EV9 is better for most other things imo.
    Putting nicer restaurants and other places that people stay longer at high power chargers encourages people to camp at chargers. Honestly, if getting people in and out of charging stalls as quickly as possible is the goal for high power fast charging, you want people sitting in their car the entire time. They’ll be less likely to stay there longer if there just sitting watching the car charge. They will be more likely to stay a long time if they have something to go and do.
    The Lucid seems like a car where, on a trip that requires charging stops, you might be able to get there faster by driving slower. It seems to suffer from high speed AC losses, basically the motor is spinning so fast at those road speeds that it starts working against itself. All AC motors have that issue to some extent, and automakers will select their final drive gearing to operate the motor in its efficiency range most of the time. They probably picked the most efficient motor speed to align with whatever the EPA tests at highway speeds, and it drops out of its efficiency range after 70mph. My old Ioniq5 used to do the same.

      My perception is it is the conservative steering wheel, lack of seat bolstering, and the butt end of the vehicle end which gives this perception. Regardless, the vehicle's overall design, performance, and range has grown on me.

    I rented a Niro EV in SoCal a few months ago and as I pulled up to an EA charger at Walmart there was a BMW i4 a few spots away that actually caught fire and the fire crews were there and the car was black and covered in soot and the air smelled of sulfur. I don’t know what you were smelling but definitely be cautious!

    Love these videos Jordan. I’d love to see a slow charging EV race as you mentioned. You guys can use my Bolt EUV. Maybe include a Leaf (with CCS adapter), a Kia Niro EV, and then a faster but not super fast charging EV like an older model S. I know first hand how slow my Bolt charges on road trips but I’d be interested to see how slow it would be compared to some faster charging EVs.

    Yes I think the 150s are more reliable then the 350s as well. We can pull 165 on these 150s on our Ioniq 5 as well vs trying to charge a several 350s that either don't work or give 68kw for whatever reason so you end up moving chargers 2 or 3 times. Be nice EA would tell you on the charger it's derated or show last 10 charge attempts have failed. You don't know that until you looked at plugshare and see the recent comments and everyone says #3 won't start.

    I would say the range of the Lucid is not needed. Not for your daily drive for sure, but I'm ready to stop driving after 2-3 hrs for a break anyway. My last road trip was 500 miles in my Model Y and I started with 99% battery. I drove for 3 hrs 15 minutes before I stopped to charge and I had to run for the bathroom, LOL. Then 10 minutes of charging. .... I then drove 1 hr 35 minutes and charged for 37 minutes while I had dinner. After that I drove 2 hrs 17 minutes to my destination. I was really really ready to stop. I love this pase. The charging experience was superb, close to the highway and a 7 second Supercharger handshake. Driving for 5 hrs in a Lucid, and then having a bad charging experience with a charger 7 miles from the highway is not what I want.

      @@alexgruia88 Yes, The Lucid got 4.3 miles/kWh on the 70 mph range test, but Jordan just got 2.8 miles/kWh on a leg going mostly 80 mph. This confirms other tests that show the Lucid efficiency crashes at 80 mph, much more so than most other EVs.

      You know you don’t have to drive 5hrs and not all charging experiences are not bad. I will hop out for 15 minutes and get back to a higher state of charge than a Tesla still. Could I go another 5hrs off that 15 minute charge, yep. Would I, probably not often.

      @@KnikkiBKnice Sorry, "not that bad" doesn't hack it for me. I'll take 99.9% reliability though. ... And 5 hrs of driving is far too much for me. About 3 hrs max is all I can stand, and usually 2 hrs is all I want. The difference in travel time is not that much, especially when you consider that Superchargers are usually closer to the highway than CCS providers.

    Lucid does not have effective battery cooling or heating, compared to Porsche Tycan superior battery pack conditioning.

    Great video! However, greatly disagree with your take on the Lucid ADAS. Teslas model clearly is the better one - since it can actually do all of your driving! Per your video, the Lucid constantly needs to be taken over or adjusted. FSD v13 can run flawlessly for hundreds of miles.

    Just travel from Houston TX to Disney World FL on CCS with the EV9 and it required so much planning with ABRP and dl every manufacturer apps to check if if the station is working and how busy it is. Far worst compare using Telsa. If they want to push this out more they need to put 4 charging stall at every rest stop along the hwy. The government can do this without private party. The rest stop is ideal for this because of ample space and restroom and there are people that clean there as well.

      I traveled from Long Island, NY to Disney World in Florida last summer and it required no planning. That’s because I took the trip in our Tesla Model Y. There were so many chargers on I95 that I picked and choose my stops if I wanted certain amenities. Plus, Tesla has chargers directly in the Turnpike rest stops on the NJ Turnpike, Delaware Turnpike, and Maryland Turnpike. To be fair, there is some CCS there as well. I agree though about the lack of chargers in non-turnpike Interstate rest stops. That’s because of some obsolete laws about commercial establishments in and along Interstates. IMO, these laws are outdated now. I see no downside for allowing states to produce revenue from Interstate rest stops, especially as EVs get adopted more.

    You said you have doubts with tesla vision. But i think FSD V13.2.2.1 has proved it is more than capable. Today Morning. It Drove me 20 KM without intervention on City streets with traffic. I love this section of i90. Absolutely Goregeous.

    I remember in one of their earning calls, Lucid boasted they hadn't wasted money investing in a charging system like Tesla had. Seems real stupid now. Lucids are very nice, but you'll get less than a premium charing experience with EA, Chargpoint, and EVgo in your Lucid to say the least.

    You can't say modern EVS have enough range when you drive in EV that is $100,000 and is also losing $100,000 or however much per vehicle that's sold and has to be billed out by Saudis every year and still cannot charge on common networks.

      @@samuelolmscheid4808I assume @DblOSmith is talking about Lucid not yet being profitable. If you divide their current losses by number of cars sold it’s around $100,000 per car. For now they are able to keep doing that because they’ve gotten large angel investment, and a large amount of that funding came from Saudi interests. Of course, that metric isn’t entirely fair because they’ve also been developing Gravity and similar on that money. We don’t know what it actually costs to make an Air and we are unlikely to know as long as Lucid is private.
