Watercraft are inspected when crossing the continental divide, particularly in states like Montana, to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS) like zebra and quagga mussels, which can easily hitchhike on boat hulls and in bilge water, potentially damaging ecosystems in new bodies of water if not properly cleaned and inspected; this is considered a key preventative measure to protect native aquatic life across different watersheds.
It's an annoyance, but a necessary one. I will say I got delayed at a WY checkpoint because they didn't have a record of the existence the major reservoir I had my kayak in last, and they refused to simply Google it. Not exactly the brightest bulbs working at these stops. But those zebra muscles are no joke.
For folk wondering why it needs new tires so soon; when it was picked up in LA from Lucid at the start of the loan it went straight to a vehicle proving grounds facility where Kyle demonstrated how well it drifted. For a long time. Much smoke was had. Most of those tires was either left on the skidpad or released into the atmosphere above the skidpad... So very, very much not representative of typical tire wear.
Loving the drone footage, out of spec needs more of this in your videos, for those outside of the usa like myself we get to see a whole lot more of the difference in terrain across the USA .👍
In 5-10 years, when every EV out there has Lucid-like range, you'll probably be able to find some used Lucids for quite cheap. Until then, there's RUclips.
Love these road trip videos. It is the reason i first watched Kyle. Excellent music selection. That car is very quiet inside..Seems silent in there at 80mph+
Also, loved the view of the Vantage bridge crossing the Columbia river. I grew up near there and it has been a long time since I've seen that area. Reminds me of my childhood
Man, the amount of construction and traffic jams at that bridge the past year have been frustrating. Pretty much traffic jams from ellensburg east unless you get on the road super early.
Washington resident here and when I heard your route at the beginning of the video I cringed for you in anticipation of the I-90 west bound traffic just west of Ellensburg. This is every Sunday here in WA…
Its kind of funny how when you guys actually do road trips a 10% challenge scenario never happens but when you do 10% challenges you always describe it as a real life road trip scenario.
10:47 I got my Air GT in the early Spring of '22, one of the first. One of the most exciting parts of this car has been waking up to see that i have an OTA update waiting. Many have been "To improve update communication" or "Bug fixes", but more often than not it has been "Surprise, you now have CarPlay". OK, not those exact words, but Lucid has steadily added real and meaningful updates that improve and enhance usability. I still can't make the seats fart but I can now change lanes by signaling, run the AC for my dog or for camping, and have phone-as-a key be reliable. You asked about owner service experiences. I've had two in two and a half years. There was a recall to replace a contactor in the battery pack. Lucid called me to arrange picking up the car around my schedule and drop off a loaner. I had them adjust a hood latch that sometimes didn't fully latch on the first try. They did that and checked some other minor items. They worked with my schedule to bring the car back. Just recently I had a piece of trim on the front that was loose and a mobile tech came out and made the repair. In both cases Lucid was very professional and easy to work with. They left the car in perfect shape.
What a great road trip. So much beautiful scenery out there. ❤ I love road trips too, they're my favorite. I keep looking for places to go just so i can road trip. Lol
That traffic is normal from Ellensburg to Snoqualmie pass. I was charging in Ellensburg and Yakima on the way to Walla Walla that same weekend. I did come back 410, though, so I avoided that I90 mess.
LOVED THE VIDEO! I just did the White Pass Route 12 just three weeks ago. It was gorgeous. Chinook Pass also. If you ever come to Tacoma in the summer again, I recommend thinking one of those two passes. Highway 18 has been under construction since 1990.
I’m so glad you are showing how far the EV infrastructure has come in Wyoming. I live in northwest Wyoming with a Mach-e and I can go everywhere. Cheers!
34:42 - should have got the $5 meal deal, added some fries and a drink to that McChicken, and kept them for later (road tripping for me means always taking my insulated lunchbox).
great video. I think a car camping channel is due soon. I thought Jordan was born with a hat on as I think this is the first time ever seeing him without one....
Fantastic road trip Please make a video that tells us where Lucid needs to improve like the Navigation problems and the screen viewing while charging. This video will help the community delivering those improvements to Lucid Devs. Safe travels Jordan
I take those roads between kalispell/missoula/spokane/seattle all the time for work. Beautiful scenery but you better be a competent winter weather driver when the snows come!
Also, you may be able to get the windshield replaced at a Auto Glass Now location... if you got that in your location... they do Lucid Windshields just call and ask if they do that... see how that process would be is a factor of rather I get the vehicle or not... but if I get the aluminum roof version of the vehicle I should be able to get that changed out faster than the open glass version... LOL
Best Western has been leaning into EV charging at least around Texas and surrounding states, not my favorite hotels but I’ve had good luck with their chargers and free juice for a not overpriced hotel is usually worth the slightly less high end hotel.
@58:30 In case this is still a mystery, the "My Route" section is displaying estimated SoC arrival using the currently selected route, and the section highlighted in red is indicating insufficient range for the alternate route in the darker blue color. When the routes overlap at the end the system does not do a good job at clarifying this. It would probably be better to only show the red section/0% warning if you actually select the alternate route. Hopefully Lucid will fix this!
When i roadtrip to WA DC and PA.. i researched the charging stations along the way. Specifically the type of chargers they have and reviews that were written. Helped a lot with route planning.
My Air GT, was the reason 2.4.10 for the GT came out. While updating to 2.4.4 my entire car updated except the the main chip, and then it bricked. When the jump the battery failed, myself and my Tech had to break into the car, which I do not recommend. Holy Cow what that a nightmare. Once in, we were on the phone with the OTA team, and flat out could not get the car to download the update. Locally we showed the car connected to the WiFi, but the OTA team didn't. They hauled the car down to Houston, and while in transit, the car started to download the update. No one knew why. My Tech and the OTA team were stunned, and frankly the only difference was that the car was in transport mode. They weighed the decision on confirming the update because the failure also caused both AGM batteries to fail, but in the end they chose to do the update since it was at their facility. It updated the main Chip, and the car fired up without issue. But they did identify a communications failure with the main chip, which lead to 2.4.10 being release. They also replaced both of my AGM's, but sadly the car suffered damage during transport, and I'm having to deal with that now. :(
Awesome video! Seems you could use some more Kempowers over there! Those chargers say if it's the car or charger that is limiting, when x% is reached, draws you a charging curve which you can take with you via QR code and most importantly they work!
Jordan, great roadtrip video! Watercraft inspections are very common out west in WA, OR, ID, and MT to prevent invasive species from being introduced, the biggest concern at the moment is zebra mussels.
I've lived with an EV in Seattle for three years now, and I can attest that Ellensburg has always been a charging bottleneck. Nice to see that the Lucid has enough range to be able to skip it, as not many EVs out there do.
I would get the aluminum roof version should be a cheaper process to get that changed out cracked windshields... actually should be a stronger version of the glass v canopy version, better sound system response, quieter on the interior, and no heat soaking while driving means less use of the AC unit.... verse the glass canopy version the aluminum one should be way better option... LOL
Awesome car Jordan and nice to see you back in a motoring video as this is one of my two subscribed channels after Dave's channel from the OOS family. So who pays for the rock chip, new windshield, assume it's OOS as it's a press car signed over to you until return time?? Waiting for Peter to launch these outside of the US/Canada for the rest of the world to experience them. Suspect Bjorn's 1000km challenge this car will beat his favourite brand of EV.
I hope Lucid and Rivian succeed. But both are a long way away from selling 100,000 vehicles annually let alone having hit vehicle with over 100K sales in USA. Hopefully they both can get their new vehicles out soon (R2S , Gravity)

Ea needs service reps actually driving around the country to make sure each EA station is working properly..
Sadly EA doesn't seem to really care especially considering they where basically forced into existence as a punishment to Volkswagen for the diesel gate scandal I don't think they'll survive long term I think charge point and some of the other charges Providers will end up putting them out of business at this rate
45 second charging handshakes multiple stalls and no preconditioning, lucid you’re doing great 😂 my plaid is so effortless I’d almost say too easy just plug in 6 sec handshake and good speeds every time no fuss no fight.
The charging handshake is more of an EA problem than Lucid. As for the preconditioning, Jordan had to turn on the auto feature since Kyle disabled it for the 10% challenge. Once Lucid is able to charge on Tesla stalls, the charging experience will be much better.
@@TheReal_JGI agree with your comment if you are referring to the new style type 4 1000 volt Superchargers, but how many of those are out there? OOS have always pointed out that a Lucid EV charging speed is limited to approximately 50 kilowatts per hour, when connected to a typical Tesla 500 volt DC fast charger. Am I wrong on this?
@@kiwi335d on the slow Lucid charging on the older Tesla chargers, yes that’s what I understand too. And as to how many v4 chargers there are, there are zero. The v4 dispensers we see some places still have v3 chargers and they are the limiting factor.
