Maybe someday Ubisoft will release a side by side, split screen video of the scenes as they were filmed, with the computer animated game version next to it. They captured my performance almost exactly.
Well If you are really the guy then man... I gotta say I have never seen a more realistic and convening performance in any game In my life. Both you and the Ubisoft team deserve some kind of an award for what you all did. Thank you for participating.
NIGHTMARECRIPT yeah me too . The snot makes it look more real . Like that little snot effect goes a long way helping you believe he is actual crying now just acting
Hes actually the good guy, he didnt know how awful his family would become in the end. But the main character and his friends arent all that good either
Sparier Caribou They may not be all that good but i do not blame the main character and the people. How should they know what Joseph and his family went through plus it is wrong to fight ones past by treating others like you were treated. The people in the village had their family also taken by Joseph and his followers. I do understand Joseph`s and the peoples view. It is kinda the same. The reason why Joseph and his cult are worse is they started with all of this. I think this story is also about the faith of people. If Joseph and the others would approach Hope Coutny different with a peaceful way to explain their plan, the world would not ebel but the Seeds used mad rituals and insane things to force the people to join them so it is obvious everyone wanted to destroy them. I would say the truth was that they reflected what society did. I did not hate Joseph but i found him strange and hard to comprehend until those special scenes where he mourned his family but also where he explained what governments do. I knew that deep down he wished for peace only. His family was growing up in absue and Joseph probably as the child in the middle kinda was affected by the environment. What people did to the Seeds was reflected on innocent people of Hope Coutny who did not have anything to do with it. I come to the conclusion that Joseph`s goal is something i support but the way how he wants to achieve that is fucked up so i would go against him. Someone who really desires peace would not choke someone to death because they do not want to be converted. I noticed when Faith said "you made your choice" well the irony is that Joseph losing his family and not dying is his punishement. Joseph Seed made his decision and so actually God punished him. Joseph was the nleader but he never really damaged people too much unlike John, Jacob and Faith so i assumed he will not die. The death of his family is his own fault for going against innocent. Far Cry 5 is fictional but is inspired by reality. In reality there are also people that are extremely devoted and use extreme methods to convert others. They talk about everyone as sinners but the truth they commit worse sins themselves. In the end Joseph Seed is totally contradicting himself in my opinion at least.
Holy shit, some of the lines in this... "John was not perfect. And sometimes he wasn't even good. But he was my brother." "He fought our parents. He fought the goverment. He fought me, heh. But mostly he fought himself." So well written and delivered
Fuck the whole religious bit for a second. I think the whole point of this storyline is to make you doubt. We started off thinking Joseph was a disgusting piece of shit and he definetly was, but when we reach the end, meaning Joseph's booger scene, by that time, we are mass murderes ourselves. Except mass murder, what have we accomplished? Was it worth it? Because we still haven't changed the cult's mind. We haven't stopped or changed Joseph's mind. Same goes for Joseph. There is still a resistance against him, no matter how many people he's killed, tortured or starved. By the end of the game, the player and Joseph aren't really that different as far as I am concerned. Our goals are totally opposite, but our methods have proven similar.
How many more times do we have to hear that vengeance is pointless? How many more times do YOU have to hear it, for you to understand that it is pointless? The people that have exacted vengeance usually cry out in misery that they still feel the same pain as when they're loved one was taken from them. Killing the killer doesn't make things better. Your loved one is still gone. You won't get them back. And all you've done now, is spread pain in their name. Is that what they would've wanted?
JefErickson Yet we've become a monster, But the people we save are worth saving and they don't see us monsters. You're right about we're all the same because they also wanted to save people. But they are the ones who took it to the extreme themselves. If we took ourselves to the extreme, then it is their fault. If they want to prepare for the apocalypse and people won't listen to them, why not save themselves? I know they have been through bad shit all of them, yet they burned homes, killed innocents, NO I meant SLAUGHTER INNOCENTS for their damn cult. They're insane.
JefErickson You're right, the killed won't be alive and we won't feel better after. Yet but by murdering murderers like the Peggies, there is a bright hope and good chance that it would be a brand new peaceful life the residents of Hope County could experience as the Peggies won't harm other innocents anymore and never again.
I really don’t get how people can sympathize with the cult or think that the resistance is the real villain. I understand that these monologues of him are emotional, but at the end of the day he’s still a kidnapping lunatic who murders and drugs people to satisfy his delusions of grandeur.
I think this character was fascinating. i'm dissapointed he didn't feature in this game as much as he should of. I'd love some form of DLC exploring his backstory and how he took hope county.
7GamesUnlimited7 awwwwwwwww you know he didn't kill not one fight? Only his family did admitting they took it to far. Or do you only focus on "HES THE BAD GUY SO HES VERY BAD" it's a shame that kids never listen to the actual story. From the very beginning I knew he was going to be good.
JakeTheGreat first of all it would be better to cut the insults if you want to have a proper discussion. Now did you know that he was the good guy before or after he killed a man in the BEGGINING OF THE GAME. Thats what far cry does they make sympathetic villains that are still evil and dont you dare tell me that he was the good guy all along did you even play the game? Look at pagan min in far cry 4 he turns out to be less of a bad guy than the so called heroes now does that make him a good guy? Of course not he still tortured and killed people. Hell if you dont count the guy at the beggining or you claim that it was his fault for being a traitor joseph was a killer way before the cult was a thing since you know he killed his daughter because "god" ordered him to do so. Theres also a theory that he was the one that set off the nukes but since its not confirmed im not gonna bring that into the argument. So go ahead tell me how was he the good guy?
7GamesUnlimited7 the guy was still alive in the begging bro, you can see him moving, Also I'll admit him killing his daughter was fucked up. Another thing is his family members were the actual fucked up ones, Joseph even condemned them saying they were taking it too far. Remember the scene were John was about to drown you but Joseph told him that's not the by killing? He tried to tell his family how to do it but THEY took it to far. Now, put yourself in his shoes. If somebody killed your only family left would you offer forgiveness and offer them one more chance? He could have easily killed your friends. But he didn't, if you look at it he is probably the most least villain than any other Farcry
Greg Byrk, if you're out there seeing this, I offer a standing ovation to your performance. Every word, every sigh, every draw of breath has a weight and burden that comes off as just so genuine. Bravo my man, for being the best Far Cry villian to date. Bravo.
@@a.k8185 alright, so this was a long while ago, but the way I understood it was that the preparation for the end times was something the cult didn’t want anyone to interfere with, so sure the peggies try to murder you all the time. But the father thinks what he’s doing is “saving non-believers”. He is enveloped by the idea that no one is beyond salvation, which is common Christian dogma, and he cares about you seemingly no matter how many unnamed cult members you kill. So: the father loves you but the cults not gonna sit around and let you steamroll them
Magical Hermit Crab The snot was real. After we filmed it, Dan Hay insisted that they put all of my messy breakdown as captured on camera into the game. The Ubisoft artists caught it beautifully. Or grossly.
In my opinion, John was the closest to Joseph he wanted to be him and Idolized him. He even looks like Joseph and tries to preach like him. Jacob was a traumatized war veteran who fought against his parents and government, and after those fights he wanted to believe in something he felt he had no purpose and Joseph gave it to him. Faith was a recovering drug addict who wanted to die but later was taken in by Joseph and gave her a home and something to believe in. Ubisoft really stepped their game up
People are comparing the villains to Vaas which is not a fair comparison. The villains here feel real and like they have weight and backstory to their character. They come off as believable and that people would follow them.
Vaas was great, over the top video game villain, no one can deny that, but Joseph and his family were great and believable villains. Who is better is case of preference, I choose the latter.
The Father takes the throne but Vaas is really believable too. He talks like a real nihilistic fatalist maniac. His most famous quote of "madness" is what a crazy histrionic motherfucker irl would say. I actually met an ex-con who expressed himself the same way Vaas does. Hoyt is also believable. The only one that doesn't feels that real to me is Pagan Min.
Undoubtedly fantastic villains, but Vaas was still great. His own back story isn't in any way unbelievable. In fact it's not much different from Faith's. And people follow him because he's strong, and they can fulfill their selfish desires if they follow him.
random person on youtube You'll do fine. On my run i hardly hit him. He just crashed into my plane having us both fall. I have no idea if that is scripted or not though.
The scene where snot drips out of his nose caused me to get 15-9 frames, whereas for the rest of the game I pretty much only got 30-60 frames. His snot took up 94% of my gpu by itself, what an amazing feat
You'll notice how he say "My brothers, my sisters" not "My brothers, my sister." That was an error but I think that take was so good they wanted to keep it anyway.
Good thing about a mute protagonist is you can give them the chance to surrender. I only shot John when he shot back after the plane fight. I shot Faith after not hurting her as long as I could, I only hit Jacob with my hands (not shoot him) and I walked away from Joseph. I wish there were more endings. The last thing these people needed was a cult.
The Three Doggieteers thanks for that comment. If you didn’t reply with that then the whole reply section would be full of cringy quotes and long fan theories
“My brother Jacob was a fighter; he fought our parents… he fought the government… he fought me… but mostly, he fought himself.” Despite Jacob being a gruesome villain, that’s still one of the most heartbreaking lines I’ve ever heard in a game.
Patz joseph isn’t right actually. If u look inside the bunkers that the bosses are in you can see that they are missile silos but the missiles are missing, I think Joseph buried those missiles around the map and detonated them when he lost to rook. This is why the missiles don’t go off if you decide to leave at the end of the game he left them there as a last resort to defeat rook.
Nope he was. The nukes weren't Joseph. www.polygon.com/2018/4/2/17188486/lets-talk-about-the-ending-of-far-cry-5 Update: Shortly after publication, a Ubisoft rep reached out with a correction on the ending. “Wanted to clarify that in reality, the ending has been hiding in plain sight. Joseph Seed continually says that the end of the world is approaching. The radio news broadcasts hint of a larger problem unraveling outside of Hope County as the game unfolds, like increasing tensions and a world in chaos, stating that nuclear war seems imminent.”
I honestly felt like the deputy was in the wrong the whole game, every encounter I had with the main antagonists I felt a sense of sorrow, they were all in terrible events that shaped who they were (John getting molested and abused as a kid, Jacob starving to near death in the desert and then resorting to eating his friend, Faith being ostracized by her community and abused by her parents so she resorts to being a herion addict, and Joseph having his wife die in a car accident); Even though they had big flaws in themselves, I wanted to help them because of the things that they went through. They didn't deserve what happened to them, and who am I to say or the resistance in that matter that we were the good guys? Because the deputy killed hundreds of Eden's Gate members yet is called a hero, by being so aggressive the deputy made things so much worse, if there was a more passive stance on taking in the Seed family and a negotiation as well then the whole confrontation and all the killing could have been avoided
I kinda disagree with that. But again I do. You see, The Deputy needs Joseph to surrender, and be arrested for all those he and the Cult had killed, because they means they were sinners. If the target won't surrender the first time, then you need to force him to surrender. Killing the Cult was nothing I would feel guilt for, not the same way i did when killing Royal Army and Guards in Far Cry 4.
The deputy wasn’t doing anything other then his job he is guiltless. Jospeh seed and his cult committed murder in the first degree and the entire world saw it via the RUclips video. Anything that happens to Joseph he brought it on himself.
Apollo 42 I agree but there definantly is a line to draw...like when the cult tortures and murders innocent people who don't agree with their views...how John carves sins into peoples flesh and cuts chunks out of some who disagree with his view...how Jacob kidnaps people and animals and uses musical conditioning combined with torture forcing them to become strong killing machines...and Faith's bliss which drives people insane and makes them do things against their will basically turning them into drug zombies, and finally Joseph the leader of it all the starter of the chaotic cult and the killer of his own daughter, The protag may not be good but He/She is definantly the lesser of Five Evils
So what have we decided gang? Is this man just truly insane, a victim of circumstance or a megalomaniac? Where does The Father land on this spectrum...
Video Game Sophistry Well truly he was correct about the collapse... he just could gone about it in a less evil way. I understand his aggression was to save as many as he could regardless if they wanted to join the project or not over the years but damn he and his followers went about it cruelly. But with that said he does love his followers, his siblings, forgiving, merciful, and is a man of his word. Although unfortunately his vision of the collapse seems to rely entirely on if handcuffs go around his wrist after a certain amount of time when the U.S. Government finally decides to notice and take action against the the cult so they can commence “The Culling” at which point if you play through normally and arrest him at the end his vision and reasoning for the project and his actions proves very fucking true. But with that said if you do not arrest him and give him reason to commence “The Culling” at the start or end of the game then you will just hear how the world is going to shit outside the U.S. via in game radios and papers but otherwise nothing will happen giving the cult and project more time to grow, expand, and prepare. The man himself though while meaning well to save everyone is obviously a little unhinged with ya know drowning the Priest daughter in a river while baptizing her because he had a flashback, trying to kill the priest because he wanted his flock, ignoring the bad that members of his cult are doing to innocents, random sudden angry mood swings, no fear of death, killing his own newborn daughter because voices told him to do it, and the list goes on. Also I’m pretty sure he has very very light supernatural powers no joke because of the bliss, Ubiverse, and other small things that happen during the game that I try to give reason to outside of “Its just a video game”.
None of his motivations made any sense he is just guy who rambles things that sound like they have a bigger meaning there isn't even a resolution at the end it just kinda ends. Interesting charecters but ultimately was wasted on some poor writing and a lack luster story it was close to being really good but it contradicts itself too often it's just a typical nut job doing things in a cult. It's resident evil 4 in the usa
He's crazy but I don't think he's power hungry, at least not compared to his siblings. I think in his own fucked up way he genuinely believes what they're doing are all necessary evils to save as many lives as possible for the upcoming apocalypse I don't think he's not a prophet though. If you pay attention to the side missions, radio, etc. you'll learn that there is already a world war going on that has escalated to the point of being nuclear (Hope County is too preoccupied with the Peggie invasion to really prep themselves for it.) He's literally just a dude who pays attention to the news. I don't think he actually predicted any of his siblings' deaths either. He just knew what they were doing would backfire on them eventually and all it would take was one wronged person to make the dominos fall. That being said, I don't know if he actually feels bad about the suffering he's causing. Is he too broken from a shitty life (broken home, dead wife, killing his disabled child) or is he a schizophrenic whose illness has gone unchecked for far too long?
Sam Dav i actually really like your take on the main villian I think you might be right. I desperately want to like his character more and this defo adds to my own imagination. I might do a 2nd play through now and try to see if I can notice anything else interesting
5:18 This is why Farcry 5 is so incredible to me, the realism. This is the most realistic crying I've heard in a game for a long time, it shows real distress which is honestly even more amazing considering most games like Farcry 5 wouldn't want to show their main villian in such a weak compromising position. The genuine sounding crying and distraught wails send chills down my spine and make me feel a bit sorry for Joseph, that's how realistic it is, it was realistic enough for me to feel sorry for what I've done to the main antagonist who put me through extreme hell, I didn't see Joseph as just a game character in this moment, it was such good acting that I saw him as a person.
GamersGet Rekt I think fc3 bass was apparently driven crazy by his sister (forget her but she is the one driving Jason to his mental breaking point by the end of the story) too.
@@juliangiuggioli7728 he's slightly villainous seen as he murders a guy with a pen in front of you when you first meet him, howeverrr he asked the guy to stop the bus not shoot the bus, so it's clear he didn't want anyone in it harmed, at least no one who wasn't golden path, plus after the ending its clear he would have been a lot better, I love farcry 4 and 5 for daring to give bad endings in terms of bad shit happens to the characters or place, I honestly am so exited for farcry 6 If there was anyone who could compete for the top villain spot in farcry its giancarlo esposito, he's an amazing actor and I can't wait to see how farcry 6 goes
The fact that any of us begin to feel sorrow for Joseph watching the eulogies shows just how great of a performance Greg Byrk did to bring this monster to life. Few characters in gaming really ever bring out your humanity and yet despite being pure evil, we still for some reason feel sorry for the guy. I think the character of Joseph Seed is going to be the standard for video game villains for many years to come.
I feel like I’m the bad person now, because as a main character I killed a lot of people(his cult) and including his family. At least my family was not killed(Rook’s family)
@@doomleika actually, i don't know if you know this now since it's been a year. In the walk away ending, Rook's family get into a truck, planning to bring an army to fight the cult. The Sheriff wanted to calm things down so he started to play the radio, but it was a mistake, as the radio was currently playing Only You, the song that Jacob brainwashed you into that triggers you into a rampage. In that ending, Rook most likely killed his entire family in that truck.
5:07 I got up to take a piss right before this video came and I stood there, seeing him rocking back and forth I was forced to sit back down and from there on I spontaneously combusted by the overall power of the scene, nearly pissing myself...
That's a good order. It feels the most correct storywise. Faith's region feels the most...aged. Like its hard to imagine there could be bliss clouds and angel zombies everywhere the day after Joseph's Seed's bungled arrest. Jacob's region also feels like things have been happening for a while since White Tails have been captured and brainwashed and Pratt has become Jacob's bitch. I think there's a reason Dutch suggests you start with John's region.
I honestly wish Joseph Seed was a good guy, but let's just remember that he suffocated his daughter, allowed the cook to play his sick games, and gouged out a person's eyes just for recording him, all before Rook tried to arrest him. Eden's gate brought this on themselves.
Joseph Seed admitted his siblings "fell into sin" in his diary in New Dawn. We don't know how much of Jacob, John, or Faith's operations he was aware of. Also God told him to suffocate his daughter and its pretty clear in New Dawn that he does talk to God.
Naomi River Zabala I think when Joseph says John was easily "preyed upon". That could mean John was either a easy target to bully, or John was molested
John does say in one scene that he "opened every hole in his body"... chillingly hinting at repeated sexual abuse, and possibly the sexually promiscuous lifestyle adopted by some victims of rape as a coping mechanism (an attempt to re-assert the control of their sexuality that was taken from them by becoming hyper-sexual.)
It actually shows that Jacob is the most mentally strong of the brothers, as Joseph says "He fought our parents" implying that he tried to start a resistance towards the Seed Parents. Maybe he even killed them, I kinda hope so.
Watching this all again legit made me cry. That last clip was probably the most emotional scene that I have ever experienced in a video game before. I won't go into a full blown rant about my feelings on Joseph Seed and the cult, but I will say this: Far Cry 5 made me feel very uncertain about what defines somebody as good or evil. I came away from every cutscene, every backstory and monologue with more conflict and sympathy for my enemies growing in my heart despite hearing all the terrible things that they've done. It really is a tragic story, no matter the outcome.
Father is special to me, because every other villain I can think of either enjoys what they do, or at least does not seem to mind. Father is different. He's a...reluctant villain. You can tell he's tortured inside. He does not enjoy cruelty. To me, that makes him just as ground-breaking as Heath Ledger's Joker. What made Joker so unique is that he had no instinct for self-preservation. What makes Father so unique is he takes no joy in what he does. He has no desire for vengeance (at least that he acts on), no sadistic streak. It's just his intellect leads him to rationalize these things. Maybe part of the reason I sympathize so much is because I've suffered with severe scrupulosity for most of my life, and its brought me very close to acting out some crazy ideas.
Ubisoft knows how to fucking write villains. Vaas, buck, pagen, el sueno, and all of the seeds I’d say maybe faith was the weakest but all were very strong.
@@dougersonify Hoyt was spooky in a realistic psychopathic sort of way. He wasn't a tortured individual, he was the torturer, there was no conscience to begin with. Vaas was just all kinds of fucked up by the drugs he was put on and the horrible shit he's been through.
I almost cried during the final eulogy, especially at the first part. I understand he’s a villain, but the way he screams in pain “My family, my brothers, my sister, they’ve all been taken from me!”, gets me every single time. Seeing the almost menacing and nearly emotionless leader breaking down like this mainly because he loves and cares for his family, it’s both surprising and so incredibly sad. This all goes to show how amazing and talented Greg Bryk is along with the whole team during this game. I was genuinely caught off guard by how amazing these scenes were. Greg’s line delivery in everyone of them was fantastic, but most especially in the final eulogy.
Ubisoft did amazing in creating an antagonist that I can feel for. He's shown to have real emotion for other's lives and those close to him. Unlike Vaas, Hoyt, and Pagen Min who show no real interest in the preservation of other's lives nor their own. Say what you will about the game but the characters were given immense detail.
Joseph Seed is showing a lot of emotion and Vaas is only angry or acting insane. Yeah that's his character but if you think about it that way what does that make Vaas.
Couldn't help but laugh so hard when that snot started dripping out of Joseph's nose in the last one. Actually felt kinda bad for Joseph when I killed the last Herald though
I think Vaas is a little higher than Joseph but Joseph is still one of the best video game villains I’ve ever seen. His speeches are all thought-provoking and have a bit of sympathy to most of them, especially his finally eulogy. Greg Bryk deserves some big rewards for the work he put into Joseph’s character. Every line, every sigh, every sound he makes has depth. I sincerely hope we see Joseph again at some point. He’s just such a fascinating villain in almost every sense of the word.
"My brother Jacob was a fighter. He fought our parents, he fought tyranny, he fought a war; even fought me.. But he mostly fought himself." That one got me.
I love how Joseph constantly looks at the camera letting the player know they are there in the eulogies, but when he’s lost everything he loves he’s done making you question whether he knows we exist and just straight out tells us he knows we’re there.
I DIDNT REALIZE IT SKIPS WHICHEVER SIBLING YOU KILL LAST! I was wondering why he was calm for his brothers and then started screaming and crying when I killed Faith😂
As someone who's struggled with scrupulosity his entire life, I really identified with Joseph Seed. I understand his pain. He doesn't enjoy what he does, but he's convinced himself its necessary and anything else would be cowardice. That's why I could never hate him, I think.
When you see snot dribbling out the nose, you know the devs put heart and soul into the character. Far Cry villians never fail to disappoint, and I'll be excited to see Anton Castillo in Far Cry 6.
@@ReiSyre62 I think Anton Castillo is a well-thought out villian. He's not crazy and composes himself like Hoyt Volker, he has a clear vision like the Seed family and Pagan Min for how he wants to view the world and control his kingdom, and he's also sadistic and unfeeling like Vaas. Is he better then Vaas? Probably not. But he's still up there with Vaas and above the Seed family when it comes to the best written far cry villians. Also I love Giancarlo Esposito so I may be a bit biased, but he's still a great villian.
I just wish the story was better though out yes anton is a great villain, but what is a great without a good story to back it up you know? I know you may disagree with me but it’s my opinion and i will respect yours.
What I really love about that last eulogy is that when he starts talking, you can really hear the pain in his voice, it makes you feel sorry for the guy.
Something I like about this game is if you kill somebody who’s actively fighting the cult (like in a fight or has a gun) doesn’t give you the innocent killed message saying that there not innocent and neither are you
The bit where he talks about John made me cry a lil bit cos I can feel for him as I am an older brother to an absolute nutter of a boy and I know how I'd feel if anyone were to ever hurt him and when he says he's gonna punish those responsible for his death and then looks at the camera I felt disgusted of myself for doing the thing I'd hate most to another guy... Ironic how my names Joseph aswell like heck might as well start a cult by this point he's so relatable from a brothers point of view lol
I can't imagine the pain he felt knowing all his siblings died it had to be emotional not just for him but for anybody especially if your close to them.
Eulogy for Random Brother #123: We are gathered here today to honor one of our forgotten brothers. A man who gave up his name and devoted his life, his whole being, to keeping our flock safe While his death saddens us all it was kind of funny watching him get swatted by that helicopter rotar as it was crashing to the Earth
Cody Baker he wasn't going to do that. .. As you saw he split everyone up with all his siblings. You got away, I think that you would've been with joseph.
When I first saw one of these, I saw john seeds first, I thought he was faking it like it was propaganda to get more people on his side and he didnt really care but by the last one I saw that he really was sad and felt bad for him
All three Seed brothers were cripplingly poor, severely beaten, and neglected as children by their religious zealot of a father. Their mother, as told by Joseph, was no more than an entity in the home, having become a shell of a woman from living with their father for so long. During a particularly cruel whipping Joseph received from his father, he first heard the voice, prophesying the Great Collapse. This revelation allowed him to find solace from his pain. It did not speak to him again. When John's school teachers noticed whipping injuries on his back, and the police found scars on the other two brothers, their parents were jailed, leaving the children at the hands of the system. The boys were all 3 taken by a family who used the children for physical labor and made them sleep in a barn with the animals to which they tended. Jacob snapped, after trading one life of misery for a new one. He burnt it all, barn, cars, and the farmhouse with the adoptive family still inside. They were separated, Jacob into juvenile detention, John to a rich, no-name couple, and Joseph, passed around as he would continue to lose each foster family's good graces once he spoke of the Voice. None of the brothers remained in contact. Eventually, Joseph grew out of the system and began working menial jobs. He would marry. His wife became pregnant, but died tragically, leaving an injured newborn daughter to Joseph. Seeing the innocent, injured face of his baby, Joseph understood the situation as a test from God. He ended his child's life by restricting her breathing tube. Joseph continued life as a poor drifter, finding work where he could. He was mugged in the streets of a city one night, beaten after the attackers realized he had no money. He heard the Voice for the second and last time that night. He knew his mission. He was to build back his family, and recruit all who would listen, so they can be saved once the earth has been cleansed of its sin. After searching for some time, Joseph found John under a different last name, leading a life as an extremely successful lawyer in their hometown of Rome, GA. John told Joseph that he had been abused by his extremely devout adoptive family, where they had psychologicaly tortured him by making him confess to his sins every day. He would lie and say he had sinned even if he had not, and spend days at a time praying to appease them. After their death, John inherited a small fortune, and in his career's success he funded himself a lifestyle of drugs, sex, and shady dealings which provided him blackmail on nearly every important figure in the city. He confessed to Joseph he hated himself and what he became. Joseph welcomed with open arms as the baby brother he had known and loved. Jacob had joined the marines after being booted from Juvie, and every time his service ended he would join back again. Countless lives were lost at his hands. Physical and mental scars from having lost so many fellow soldiers, killing innocent people and being forced to canabalize another man wore him into nothing more than a body, lacking spirit or soul. The two younger found Jacob at a homeless shelter, so plagued by PTSD that he was muttering his brothers' names in his restless sleep. Reunited, and invigorated by Joseph's prophecy, they vowed to never leave each other again, and to journey on in the world, saving as many souls from the Great Collapse as the could. Thus began the Project. I have an immense amount of sympathy for the three seed brothers, and to Faith herself, although she is not explained as in-depth. I understand why a lot of players will resent the Project and it's leaders, since they are very harsh in their ways. But I think it's understandable. The world after the collapse will be harsh, and the weak, those who lack devotion and pure trust, will not survive. The actions taken by the project are necessary to ensure the survival of the family who joins them. I love this game and the story so much. Praise be to the Father.
ALUMNI ¿¿¿ Faith is not related at all. There were actually other "Faiths." the one that you see's name is actually Rachel. The other ones were either killed or became angels.
Maybe someday Ubisoft will release a side by side, split screen video of the scenes as they were filmed, with the computer animated game version next to it. They captured my performance almost exactly.
Greg Bryk Father.....is that really you?
ps The snot was real.
Video Game Sophistry Yes it is. Glad you all are enjoying the game and my performance.
Greg Bryk So Greg, what’s your take away? What was the Father really searching for in Hope County?
Well If you are really the guy then man... I gotta say I have never seen a more realistic and convening performance in any game In my life. Both you and the Ubisoft team deserve some kind of an award for what you all did. Thank you for participating.
Far Cry 5 is the first game I've seen that has a scene where someone is crying, and snot is also coming down their nose. I'm impressed.
NIGHTMARECRIPT yeah me too . The snot makes it look more real . Like that little snot effect goes a long way helping you believe he is actual crying now just acting
Exactly, it overall was an amazing performance. He may be no Vaas, but damn, does he have a lot of character to him.
Wolfenstein had Hitler spit out a lot of mucus, though not as detailed
Same tbh
NIGHTMARECRIPT yep
"I thought I knew God's plan, but I was wrong" legit brought a tear to my eye for a second.
TheLastCommunist 😭😭😭😭
your not the only communist man
trust me
The one about John did it for me
I came to this video just for someone like you 😭same man it was so fucking sad
The last one caught me by surprise. The voice acting was beautiful.
And that snot effect. I've never seen a game capture that before.
Yeah last one was pretty powerful
Joseph should have brought some tissues.
ALUMNI ¿¿¿ I know, I don't like joseph but it honestly made my heart churn.
When he was crying, music looked perfect for that emotional scene.
Damn Ubisoft really knows how to make a loveable villain.
Hes actually the good guy, he didnt know how awful his family would become in the end. But the main character and his friends arent all that good either
Sparier Caribou he kill his daughter so you know he is crazy son of bitch
Yep a crazy sum bitch.
Not to mention about Ull (Far Cry Primal) had a family, but doesn't get his grave out of his tomb of ice.
Holy shit, some of the lines in this...
"John was not perfect. And sometimes he wasn't even good.
But he was my brother."
"He fought our parents. He fought the goverment. He fought me, heh.
But mostly he fought himself."
So well written and delivered
Even though he created monsters and his cult did crazy things I still can feel sorry for him, he really loved his family
JefErickson look at what the cult has done if they killed your family what you do fight back or run away
The last cutscene made me feel like I was the bad guy
Nope
we were...
You kind of are.
I really don’t get how people can sympathize with the cult or think that the resistance is the real villain. I understand that these monologues of him are emotional, but at the end of the day he’s still a kidnapping lunatic who murders and drugs people to satisfy his delusions of grandeur.
Well we are the bad guy in the end
I think this character was fascinating. i'm dissapointed he didn't feature in this game as much as he should of. I'd love some form of DLC exploring his backstory and how he took hope county.
Sadly, Ubisoft dumped all development of FC5.
@@ponyempiresunite9702 Not necessarily, he could have alot of backstory in new dawn
I reckon he'll make a return in new dawn as a fun for hire, would be interesting to see him try and gain redemption for what he caused
Play as the father or a random customizable peggie
That would be awesome, and you could get your siblings as guns-for-hire!
That last one really got me, I honestly felt really bad for him, having watched his family be killed right in front of him...
Zavien Franklin i didnt, think about all the families he had killed. The more i see him suffer the better.
7GamesUnlimited7 uh.... he cried, that means... uh................... he was good guy because he can sing
That acting was fucking beautiful. I wasn't expecting it
Greg Byrk, if you're out there seeing this, I offer a standing ovation to your performance. Every word, every sigh, every draw of breath has a weight and burden that comes off as just so genuine. Bravo my man, for being the best Far Cry villian to date. Bravo.
*He was hard to hate because he forgives you for everything you do.*
This hits hard man
He often, seemingly, rallies a war against you.

Wish he didn't kill his daughter ar least maybe that would have given him the ability to have more mercy
Such a spectacular villain, the voice acting was phenomenal.
Yes Man yes man is that really you
I read that in yes mans voice lol
Agreed
DAMN, the animation in that last one... i was not expecting boogers.
Magical Hermit Crab The snot was real. After we filmed it, Dan Hay insisted that they put all of my messy breakdown as captured on camera into the game. The Ubisoft artists caught it beautifully. Or grossly.
Greg Bryk you where apart of the team? If you where thank you for helping in this amazing game!
XENOCRYPT he played the father
What's your pic from
Amazing performance Greg!
Zac _ If anything Joseph Seed shows a lot of emotion where Vaas is only angry or acting insane.
Truth
Undoubtedly fantastic villains, but Vaas was still great. His own back story isn't in any way unbelievable. In fact it's not much different from Faith's.
And people follow him because he's strong, and they can fulfill their selfish desires if they follow him.
Too bad you don't get to see all of them. I killed Jacob last and missed out this gem
Wreethee Faaangs I killed Jacob first I'm going after after the other brother now
random person on youtube Good luck. John had the best boss fight imo.
Wreethee Faaangs sad thing is I'm so bad at flying planes
random person on youtube You'll do fine. On my run i hardly hit him. He just crashed into my plane having us both fall. I have no idea if that is scripted or not though.
Wreethee Faaangs wait what
The scene where snot drips out of his nose caused me to get 15-9 frames, whereas for the rest of the game I pretty much only got 30-60 frames. His snot took up 94% of my gpu by itself, what an amazing feat
Unfathomably based
5:07
Greg is so fucking talented
Yeah I can't get enough of that scene, I'm telling you :o
It has to be up there as some of the best acting in a game. I can't think of many other scenes (from other titles) that compete with it.
Chubzdoomer It for me is on part with John Marstons last stand.
Chubzdoomer
The acting in the Last of US is also on-par.
You'll notice how he say "My brothers, my sisters" not "My brothers, my sister." That was an error but I think that take was so good they wanted to keep it anyway.
*I ALMOST feel sorry for him, almost...*
*5:39** actually I DO feel sorry for him*

"MY BROTHERS... MY SISTER... THEY'VE BEEN TAKEN FROM ME"
*"BY A SNAKE IN THE GARDEN"*
Bring out the snot!

Snake more like Sinake in the garden.
This guy really loved his family. I kind of feel bad for killing them
Good thing about a mute protagonist is you can give them the chance to surrender. I only shot John when he shot back after the plane fight. I shot Faith after not hurting her as long as I could, I only hit Jacob with my hands (not shoot him) and I walked away from Joseph.
I wish there were more endings. The last thing these people needed was a cult.
But think about all those families he had ruined, because of his obsession with God and The Collapse
Well, the whole game is a critic for EE UU and the rest of the world, but mostly EE UU...
Faith was cool. Her character just freaked me out.
When you could avoid this with the secret ending so you feel worse.

God I fucking love this character / voice actor. Gives me chills man
The last one got me, i felt sorry for him, a lost soul but then it changed when he said “now i see”
“My brother Jacob was a fighter; he fought our parents… he fought the government… he fought me… but mostly, he fought himself.” Despite Jacob being a gruesome villain, that’s still one of the most heartbreaking lines I’ve ever heard in a game.
I’ll admit I actually started to feel bad for him when he reacted to all his siblings death
Dang these made me cry
Gary B Happel it can't make me feel bad they are crazy we can never ever trust them never ever
Patz yes i have playing right now crazy people god does not want this
Patz joseph isn’t right actually.
The nukes weren't Joseph.
www.polygon.com/2018/4/2/17188486/lets-talk-about-the-ending-of-far-cry-5
Update: Shortly after publication, a Ubisoft rep reached out with a correction on the ending.
They made you _Far Cry_ 👉👉
When Joseph was talking about his wife I felt bad for him
Omega X But he said he murdered his daughter during it
Actualy, i'm not so emotional, but watching this i cry like little btch (
I honestly felt like the deputy was in the wrong the whole game, every encounter I had with the main antagonists I felt a sense of sorrow, they were all in terrible events that shaped who they were (John getting molested and abused as a kid, Jacob starving to near death in the desert and then resorting to eating his friend, Faith being ostracized by her community and abused by her parents so she resorts to being a herion addict, and Joseph having his wife die in a car accident); Even though they had big flaws in themselves, I wanted to help them because of the things that they went through.
Apollo 42 Also throughout the campaign you kill hundreds of misguided people
There is a secret ending at the start of the game, so that could help you.
Short answer: yes. The long version could be a whole essay.
I think in his own fucked up way he genuinely believes what they're doing are all necessary evils to save as many lives as possible for the upcoming apocalypse
I don't think he's not a prophet though.
5:18
This is why Farcry 5 is so incredible to me, the realism.
Im my opinion Far cry 5 has the best acting in any far cry game
Far cry Has that ability to make you feel bad for each bad guy like Pagan in FC4 and The Seed family in this game
GamersGet Rekt I think fc3 bass was apparently driven crazy by his sister (forget her but she is the one driving Jason to his mental breaking point by the end of the story) too.

If there was anyone who could compete for the top villain spot in farcry its giancarlo esposito, he's an amazing actor and I can't wait to see how farcry 6 goes

I killed John first, Jacob second and Faith last
Hooded Stranger same, the game felt more natural in that order
Hooded Stranger I went john, faith, then Jacob so I didn't see what joseph says about him. ..
Hey, me too
That's a good order.
Same
I honestly wish Joseph Seed was a good guy, but let's just remember that he suffocated his daughter, allowed the cook to play his sick games, and gouged out a person's eyes just for recording him, all before Rook tried to arrest him.
Joseph is a face of shit
@@Qourie Yes. He was. He wasn't' born bad, granted, but plenty of people go through trauma and don't do things like MURDER A BABY.
Poor John was molested as a kid ;_; save him
Silmein wdym fam??? :0
Naomi River Zabala I think when Joseph says John was easily "preyed upon". That could mean John was either a easy target to bully, or John was molested
Season Springal holy shit poor John 😭
John does say in one scene that he "opened every hole in his body"... chillingly hinting at repeated sexual abuse, and possibly the sexually promiscuous lifestyle adopted by some victims of rape as a coping mechanism (an attempt to re-assert the control of their sexuality that was taken from them by becoming hyper-sexual.)
It actually shows that Jacob is the most mentally strong of the brothers, as Joseph says "He fought our parents" implying that he tried to start a resistance towards the Seed Parents. Maybe he even killed them, I kinda hope so.
I cried at father talking about Jacob's death it made me cry a little and feel bad a little
Watching this all again legit made me cry.
@@Dennis-nc3vw i completely agree and I can relate
Ubisoft knows how to fucking write villains. Vaas, buck, pagen, el sueno, and all of the seeds I’d say maybe faith was the weakest but all were very strong.

I always wonder if he was talking to the deputy when Joseph took him down to Dutch’s bunker at the end
0:05 John
1:27 Jacob
3:16 Faith
5:07 Final eulogy
That last one made me feel bad for him.
Journeygan until he said now I see
He reaped what he sowed.
Ubisoft did amazing in creating an antagonist that I can feel for. He's shown to have real emotion for other's lives and those close to him. Unlike Vaas, Hoyt, and Pagen Min who show no real interest in the preservation of other's lives nor their own. Say what you will about the game but the characters were given immense detail.
amazing grace, how sweet the sound,
that saved a wretch like me...
Praise be.....to my Lawgiver!!
I regreted killing each seed sibling so much. I just loved each of them so much. They're backstories and personalitys were so good in my opinion
These show that no matter what, everyone is human and everyone has some form of feeling.
"My brother Jacob was a fighter. He fought our parents, he fought tyranny, he fought a war; even fought me.. But he mostly fought himself."
That one got me.
Seeing him cry made me so happy. But then he won.
Melon Lord The fucking ending.
Melon Lord how you see him? You are blind Toph
Melon Lord No he didn’t. At the end of the game when you resist, he’s all that remains of eden’s gate.
The last had me almost crying its just so so so sad i feel realy bad for killing John, jacob, faith.
So now what's your opinion on him since FC6 is here?
I think we can all agree, Far Cry has some of the best antagonists out of any videogame franchise
Agreed. Except for New Dawn's antagonists
The voice acting in this game was phenomenal.
What I really love about that last eulogy is that when he starts talking, you can really hear the pain in his voice, it makes you feel sorry for the guy.
Actually felt bad for what i did by the end of the game, good job Ubi
Something I like about this game is if you kill somebody who’s actively fighting the cult (like in a fight or has a gun) doesn’t give you the innocent killed message saying that there not innocent and neither are you
Yes it does give you that message, you might have it disabled from your interface options
@@sn6oweNo, killing resistance members dosent give the "dont kill innocent civilains" message...
You took my family from me so that l could have yours.
Eulogy for Random Brother #123:
We are gathered here today to honor one of our forgotten brothers. A man who gave up his name and devoted his life, his whole being, to keeping our flock safe
While his death saddens us all it was kind of funny watching him get swatted by that helicopter rotar as it was crashing to the Earth
5:30 i kind of fell bad for him in this part
Please forgive me Father 🙏. I didn't want to kill Faith but the game gave me no choice 😢.
You feel bad until you realize he was gonna cook you like a steak in the helicopter in the beggining
Cody Baker he wasn't going to do that. .. As you saw he split everyone up with all his siblings. You got away, I think that you would've been with joseph.
@@zeroblackfire5001So you missed the line "LET THEM BURN!"
And he killed his infant daughter.
When I first saw one of these, I saw john seeds first, I thought he was faking it like it was propaganda to get more people on his side and he didnt really care but by the last one I saw that he really was sad and felt bad for him
5:17 kinda feel bad
Joseph Seed was a very unique character it’s not everyday you see one like him especially in gaming
Sometimes its better to leave well enough alone
"She was not the first to carry that name but she was the most devoted she was like many of you when she came to me broken... lost"
5:36 sometimes a feel like. When I'm alone in a room, I say that same exact thing. "I thought I knew gods plan, but I was wrong."
God I love that soft music when he reminisces about each of his siblings
5:08 in future games, the voice actors should be genuinely crying as the character is crying
Damn he don’t deserve that last one, well maybe but I low key feel bad for Joseph
I want a Far Cry game where you play the antagonists and in the end you villains win.
Far cry 6 season pass eventually gives you that kind of experience
Oh they are related by blood except faith.
I'm pretty sure faith is their half-sister
ALUMNI ¿¿¿ Adoptive sister
ALUMNI ¿¿¿ Nah, she only met the father at 17.
ALUMNI ¿¿¿ Faith is not related at all. There were actually other "Faiths." the one that you see's name is actually Rachel. The other ones were either killed or became angels.
BORN IN THE WRONG REICH proof?
This is so good, everyone who is feeling sorry for him THATS how he gets you
You would have definitely joined his cult
¿Did I ever told you the definition of insanity?
